The most surprising car of the year so far is definitely the Polestar 1. Not as fast as the Chiron or Senna, but not less exclusive. In case of a hypercar, you expect them to perform on track the way they do and beyond. Making a 2.350 kg GT fly and handle the way this marvel does however is something that defies traditional principles of automotive engineering. This was my first time in the car ever with no prior experience.
Hey Misha, the car never really passed 210 km/h and seemed rather sluggish around 200. Was that just the combustion engine straining against the 2.3 tons or am I missing something? Cheers mate =)
Polestar should use this video for advertising instead of hiring copywriters to come up with slogans. If a guy like Misha is impressed, average Joe's will be blown away

The Volvo + Polestar combo is seriously underrated in the car world. Such gorgeous pieces of fine craftsmanship. They can easily take on the big dogs each vehicle to their own segment, but people don't consider them as often.

I would say many Volvos have great elegant frame they look really nice. Performance i think they dont actually take everything out of the car as their one keyword is safety. Cant say much about Polestar as i have never driven one. I have had Volvo 850 -05 2.0, Volvo S70 -00 2.4 and Volvo S60 -05 2.5T AWD ( shame none was R )
@@Wispeks Safety was a big thing in the older cars, i don't think their structure is as bullet proof as it once was, Saab and Volvo, both Swedish car brands, were very well known for their durable bodies, isn't just a volvo thing, it's a Swedish thing.

I have been sitting in the drivers seat of the polestar 1 (I know people working on polestar), and It's really a beautiful, minimalistic interior with focus on materials and clean lines rather than being flashy. Imo, the back seats and the speakers with the aluminium trim going all around the entire "cockpit" is the most beautiful design aspect of the interior, but it isn't show much in this video. Also, the dash is carbon fiber and aluminium, and looks really good in person. Look up some images of the interior on the internet and you will see what I mean. Imo I love minimalistic interiors, you might not, it all comes down to personal taste.

Wow... I knew it was heavy and always admiring it for its GT form + that it's a plug in hybrid which gets A LOT of electric miles. Now that I've seen it on track, W-T-F. This is why companies should give people like you their cars for a lap. Now I'm seriously considering one of those in the next years :3

Thank you Misha for sharing this amazing experience with the Polestar 1. I have been driving the Polestar 1 for little over 6000km now and also had it on a track for a couple of laps and apart from the nearly death choking collision warning system acting up at one point I was equally impressed with the performance of this car. Seeing this video and having some experience at the Nürburgring I'm even more impressed. Totally catch your very difficult to describe feel. Looks like you also introduced a new phenomenon, regenerative trail braking induced torque vectoring oversteer.. 😃 Again thanks. 🔝

I think this car is absolutely incredible! I didn't expect it to weight that much and handle the way it does. You were making it look like the other people on the track weren't moving. I don't know how they can't advertise all its abilities to handle, i mean, it REFUSED to understeer, I was blown away! I wanted to buy one before, but this makes me want one even more now

That's one of my favorite laps of recent times. The agility it displays certainly reduces concern about it's weight. If anything it looked really planted and seemed to stay classy even at the edge of adhesion. Thanks Polestar for bringing one for Misha to drive, and thanks Misha for squeezing it enough to hear those Pzero's sing.

Fantastic stuff Misha. I’m a big Volvo fan. The 850 T5 & 850 R models were Epic. Especially as an Estate. Polestar 1 is such a good looking vehicle. Considering it is a GT car that weighs 2.3 tonne, I was seriously impressed with how well it did, on normal tyres, and the Ohlins suspension had not been adjusted. Great video. 🚗 ⚡️. 👍👍

Didnt knew that so nice 0:59 my uncles first car! 850 S70 my dads first own car and V70 R T5 was my first car! Loved it so far 260 hp stock, with some tuning 290 hp and the straigt up 5 cylinder sound is still one of the greatest ive ever heard. 12:00 that was hell of a jumpscare :D
It seems like this is the most fun you had lapping a car in a long time. On a totally unrelated note, Robert, it seems like Apex is missing a hybrid for the more environmentally conscious. I think Polestar 1 would fit right in. Additionally you should look at adding an electric car to the fleet for those even more environmentally conscious. I hear -Polestar- Rimac might have something interesting.
Heavy as a Hippo but giving the feeling is light as a feather , i saw some incredible handling for such a car . Stability is it's best feature i would say safely ! I bet is a thrill driving this awesome vehicle !!!! Thumps up

Polestar 1 is based on Volvo's SPA platform. The car is a plug-in hybrid with a four-cylinder VEA engine that drives the front wheels. On the rear axle are two electric motors. The total system power is 600 hp and the torque 1000 Nm. The car can go up to 150 km on electric power alone. The body is built of carbon fiber to save weight. The wheel suspensions have been developed in collaboration with Öhlins Racing.
Volvo earns it's name "I roll". I had a 2001 S60 2.4T, it was like driving a magic carpet, so comfy, but it's handling was really good and predictable' The engine felt powerful and would surge smoothly belying the197hp number. Swedish magic.

Very impressive considering the weight, the design is excellent. I'd consider this seriously as an alternative to a Merc / BMW. Didn't know about Polestar working for Volvo, it blends in seamlessly.

It’s believe it’s like Cupra and Seat. The interior in the polestar is basically 90% the same as in a standard Volvo.
Polestar got bought by some chinese company, the main designer of volvo now works for polestar
Polestar is owned by Geely. The new model 2 is based on a a Volvo xc40.

Never underestimate the polestar, Volvo is and polestar are just amazing and personally my favorite companies.
Very impressive considering the weight, the design is excellent. I'd consider this seriously as an alternative to a Merc / BMW. Didn't know about Polestar working for Volvo, it blends in seamlessly.
