Omg, this brought back memories. I was one of the first 12 original hosts hired for QVC by John Eastman Himself in Sept/86. By Jan/87 realized this type of broadcasting was not for me. Went back to my roots in Theatre And Directing, married my long suffering boyfriend and lived happily ever after. You were a nice man, Mr Eastman and So we’re all the other hosts and staff but gold chains and pots and pans were not the stuff that dreams are made. Thanks for the memory. Best Wishes. EL

The QVC morning show and the lucky drawing are what drew me in back in 96. I shop every holiday season with them. I miss the lucky drawings. They later changed it to you won if your membership number came up. I still know my 8 digits membership number by heart. lol
My mom and I didn't start watching until 1991...we didn't get the chanel and it was a favorite to watch even if you didn't buy a thing. Who remembers Kathy and Jeffery?
I used to love the early days of QVC, I used to love seeing the Q bird sitting on one of the letters at the top of the hour, sure wish I recorded that because I miss it.
I won $1000.00 when QVC had a Sweepstakes in the late 90s I think. I never won anything and I bought some gold jewelry which was so CHEAP back then. QVC and some other online shopping networks are fun still to watch. I think though (especially QVC) they try to make their look so fancy..the sets and brand names make prices higher than they have to be. I think a shopping channel can be humble yet still sell good quality things for a reasonable price. It ends up that only a richer customer can purchase QVC now. I still have fun memories though of QVC and HSN back then. That's why I tune in now and again. Some of the early hosts are still there...don't buy things though. Gotta watch my spending!
I remember watching QVC around 94-95 and Levine was the host, she was talking to the caller and the caller was talking, as usual and the camera switched to the item for sale and then switched back to Levine and she didn't know it. She was slouched over with her head turned to the side scratching it shaking her head and mumbling.

What's amazing is how expensive that piece of shit shower clock radio really is. Looking on the bls inflation calc, the "regular price" of $19.95 is equivalent to $43.55, today; the "on air" price of $11.49 is equivalent to $25.08, today. Then again, that shitty thing was probably pretty high tech in 1986.
I had one and tore it apart years later. Wires were held together with paper tape if you can believe it... It was nothing more than a speaker and a small board no bigger than a deck of cards.

I forgot about Q-bird, & wish these simpler times were still around. At least they seemed simpler. More personal. Not all about the apps.

I remember!! My cousin worked at QVC in those days,and she would tell us about Jeffery,Kathy,and etc...My Mom still watches and she's 90!!!
