I started watching your channel on your FE Ford engine build and was impressed with your common seance builds. So I started watching more of your videos and have all of them. I am a old time gear head, 77 years old now. Thanks for the trip back.
It probably wouldn’t be worth the effort when you can buy rims like this from a couple different companies. Maybe selling the pieces to do it would make you a little extra money, but not the whole rim.
I like it better without the rings. I will steal the hubcap mounting idea. I would be interested in buying a set of the steel hole fillers if you decide to start selling them.
I can't tell how many of those wheel's my brother scraped for scrap metal. I like how people dress up there own wheels instead of paying thousands of dollars to buy wheel's that look just as cool when making or dressing up your own
looks good, but isnt it dangerous to weld on a wheel with a mounted tire? seen other videos where the tire can blow due to excessive pressure from the heat
@@phase2projects363 do what you need at your own risk. I kept a close on on how much heat was building on the lip of the wheel. It never got hotter then what I could touch with my bear hand. Because all the welding was on the face of the wheel. But you can do what ever you feel safe with. This is how it did mine
@@Counsilcustoms I had a friend killed welding on a wheel with a mounted tire. He was welding on a tube around the valve stem for a dirt track car. The tire was mounted with lighter fluid and it exploded. You will not know if you put in too much heat until it was too late. Guess where your head is located when welding on a rim. BTW I do like the idea. Just take the extra step and break the bead on the tire.
Couple of months ago, I watched ole pudding attempt to do the same thing. Big cap on steelies. You say smoothies. Took him a few. I like your way better.
Maybe. Maybe not. Steelies aren’t available in too many options. My ADD and impatience with repetitive tasks would make that stressful but time-for-dollars it is probably worth it Grinding down those welds would drive me nuts, and bodyworking them. Phew.

Man, that looks really good!! Kind of a modernized old school look, AWESOME!
Looks awesome. I almost did that myself one time but I changed my mine. Now seeing it I may have to actually do it
Same here just need to see the end result
Man, that looks killer great job
Outstanding!
Thats slick as hell. I was looking at buying a set once and it was crazy high. I could do this easy enough.
never seen that done before!! very cool!! thanks for posting!!
Nice! I need to try this on my Silverado wheels. Can't find wheels I like without spending a fortune. I think this idea is great. Thanks for sharing,
That looks to be a bunch of time. But the results look great. Good job.
That looks damn good, saves money too!
Good job. Prefer it without the plastic trim ring.
Sweet.great idea.
I would think you could sell these since you already know what to make? Great idea to make these wheels work !

great look

Dude! I have been wanting to do this for my ‘52 F1 and thought it might be crazy. That didn’t look terrible. Thanks for showing the hub cap nubs too!
@@bradleyhanlon I’ll be the test dummy so yall don’t have to be! Lol
That was a lot of work! Nicely done
@@_the_Chad_ thank you
Great idea, nicely done
Good job! I like the way that turned out! I just subbed to your channel, so I'm going back to check out this truck build.
@@phillipshotrodgarage I appreciate it. Hope you enjoy! We got a couple more lined up already coming this next year
Great lookin truck sir
nice job, just glue a piece of leather to the back of your prybar and it won't damage the finish

Smart, cheap and looks killer
The nubs worked out great. Did you measure the placement of the square stock with the cap ,on the first set you did?

Nice!
Do you know what size circles(plugs) you had made? And was there any shaping of the face of the wheel or just flat
@@ziggy760 that section of wheel is flat

Where can we get the hubcaps?
@@chucksgarage7165 I’m not sure. I actually pulled them off of a 56 thunderbird

Nice but the caps stick out farther than the originals.
@@jamestone265 it’s on a crown Vic chassis. I’m not trying to make it original just look better then the crown Vic wheels
Looks great, but I think it is far more difficult than you make it out to be. The majority of car guys wouldn’t be able to do this by themselves.
