i literally saw that happen then watched the following episode then skipped to the end. i needed to know that Light didn't win. I'm a bit different in that i saw the netflix film first then the anime. I enjoyed the concept of the death note and loved ryuk and L's character on the film then saw the anime and realised they are 1000x better there. But since i saw the film first and the ending was L considering using the death note against Light, his death really caught me by suprise especially since i knew there were 37 episodes due to having access to all episodes back to back. Even now it bothers me but i guess it was inevitable for the story. I just hate that it came down to Rem doing something so stupid as to sacrifice everything for misa who was going to die at some point anyway.
When L died and N came out even Light started to miss L. I think even the writers felt the same qay we do thts why they pay homeage to him with N saying L was truly the best

I honestly think they would have been friends if Light wasn't Kira. He still would have joined the police and probably would have met L and worked on some cases with him eventually. It would have been cool if L made a surprise appearance, but they showed Rem dying, so that guaranteed that L really was dead. I really like Near though, so I'm glad he ended up defeating Kira. If you haven't already, you should watch the Japanese live-action movies, at least the first two, though I think all four are really good. The first two, Death Note and Death Note II: The Last Name, follow the anime, but based on your comment, I think you might like what happens toward the end. L: Change the World is the third movie. It's based off the light novel and follows L's last days. The fourth movie is Light Up the NEW World. @:D Yeah, the anime didn't really show Near's thought process like the manga did. The manga went into more detail about how Near came to certain conclusions. Where in the anime it sometimes seemed like Near just magically knew everything. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate L, I just like Near a little more. I am still not over L’s death. After ep 25 the series felt...empty. But i really enjoyed Near and especially Mello. I also disagree with people saying Light got “dumbed down” so Near could win. It was obvious that he got too cocky and careless after “beating” L.
It felt different without L, but I still really enjoyed the second half. I also like Near and Mello, Near is actually one of my favorite characters. I loved the ending, too. And yeah, you're right, Light got too cocky toward the end. Especially in the warehouse, when he said, "I win" before waiting to see if anyone died first. He was just so sure that he couldn't lose. Yes, I remember that scene, too. It was pretty dark. I was referring to the first Relight movie, though. L has a private movie theatre at the headquarters. In Relight 1, this is where L and Light first meet. When L smiles at him, it's a bit of a creepy smile, lol. If you haven't seen the two Relight movies, I recommend them. They are basically the anime condensed into two feature-length animated movies. Some of the content is the same of course, but there are differences, too. Such as the scene I mentioned above, L's funeral, and other extra scenes.

If you watch these, watch Relight 2 through the end of the credits. There's a very brief scene of Aizawa and Matsuda finding Light's body. We only see their reactions to it, and it's a very short scene, but still worth seeing, imo. I haven't been able to find these online, but you can buy the DVDs online. If you're interested, there are four Japanese live-action Death Note movies and a live-action TV drama. I really enjoyed all of these, and each of them are much, much better than the Netflix version. The TV drama is my personal favorite of these and can be found for free on Crunchyroll. The entire Death Note musical can be found on TH-cam. I'll include the links for the other movies down below. The first one follows the first half of the anime, and the second one follows the second half. Though there are changes, and L survives, L: Change the World is based on the light novel and follows L's last days. Have tissues ready if you watch this. I have a couple of suggestions you might be interested in. There is a light novel called Death Note-Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases. This is about L and Naomi and it takes place before Death Note. In fact, L briefly mentions this case in the anime, once Naomi is reported as missing. There is another light novel called L:Change the World. Which is about L's last days following the end of the KIra case. I recommend reading this one, too. It's really good, imo. They made a Japanese live-action adaptation of this novel which is also really good. It differs from the book a bit, so you may want to read that and watch the movie. @@corycianangel6321 There's quite a few English Death Note VAs in various Barbie movies: Vincent Tong (Matsuda), Kirby Morrow (Mikami), Cathy Weseluck (Near), Shannon Chan-Kent (Misa), and Brian Drummond (Ryuk), to name a few. There's even more than these. A lot of them do voices in My Little Pony and Ninjago as well. It's always interesting to me to see voice actors from one show, doing another show together.
There was a different feel to the show without L, but I still enjoyed the second half of the series and actually really liked Near. I also loved the ending. Still though, it did feel strange not to have L there facing Light at the very end.

What ironic is that the illustrator actually first designed L to look attractive in earlier chapters before his face was revealed. Specifically in Volume 1’s earlier chapters before L fully showed his face, but then he changed it so his looks would contrast Light’s
L was perfectly voiced in this dub. Reading the manga, you get a lot of personality from L, but the deliveries here really took the lines to the next level

0:10 L honestly looks so attractive when he introduces himself. It’s honestly so crazy to me because when I first watched Death Note, I didn’t think L was attractive at all but my second time watching it I totally have a crush on him.
the reason he looks more attractive when he's first introduced is because his design hadn't been finalized yet. l had first been conceived as a conventionally attractive young man, but obata decided it would be more fun if l and light contrasted each other in their appearance as well. since obata was still learning about l when he was first revealed, certain things (like his way of holding things and his lack of eyebrows) are not present in the first few panels of the manga he appears in. he's noticeably less skinny as well. then his eyebrows disappeared, his eyes became more bug-like and we got the l we know now. how effective all of that was in making him less attractive is debatable, especially since obata seems to draw him either as a wet cat looking guy or a very pretty boy (his specialty).
He has an odd sense of humour, he's weird in all his appearance yet he's lovable, relatable, unforgettable and a true genius! That's how you make an interesting character!!

I tried convincing myself that L's death was fake until the very end. I really believed he would make a surprise entrance and shock everyone 😭
It would have been cool if L made a surprise appearance, but they showed Rem dying, so that guaranteed that L really was dead. I really like Near though, so I'm glad he ended up defeating Kira.
If you haven't already, you should watch the Japanese live-action movies, at least the first two, though I think all four are really good. The first two, Death Note and Death Note II: The Last Name, follow the anime, but based on your comment, I think you might like what happens toward the end. L: Change the World is the third movie. It's based off the light novel and follows L's last days. The fourth movie is Light Up the NEW World. This takes place 10 years after the original Kira case and has some twists and turns to it, especially toward the end.

A lot of people wanted to stop then and some people did. It's too bad though, bc I feel like they miss out on so much.
As sad as L's death was, I really enjoyed the second half of the series, despite the differences from the manga. And Near became one of my favorite characters. Plus, the ending was just amazing, imo. Thanks for watching!
@:D I agree that L's death was really sad, but I ended up liking Near, more than L, actually. Near became my third-favorite character. I was never on Light's side, however, I really couldn't stand him. So I was happy to see him lose. I also absolutely loved the way the series ended though. Thanks for watching!
@:D Yeah, the anime didn't really show Near's thought process like the manga did. The manga went into more detail about how Near came to certain conclusions. Where in the anime it sometimes seemed like Near just magically knew everything.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate L, I just like Near a little more.

I am still not over L’s death. After ep 25 the series felt...empty. But i really enjoyed Near and especially Mello. I also disagree with people saying Light got “dumbed down” so Near could win. It was obvious that he got too cocky and careless after “beating” L.
It felt different without L, but I still really enjoyed the second half. I also like Near and Mello, Near is actually one of my favorite characters. I loved the ending, too. And yeah, you're right, Light got too cocky toward the end. Especially in the warehouse, when he said, "I win" before waiting to see if anyone died first. He was just so sure that he couldn't lose. Yes, I remember that scene, too. It was pretty dark. I was referring to the first Relight movie, though. L has a private movie theatre at the headquarters. In Relight 1, this is where L and Light first meet. When L smiles at him, it's a bit of a creepy smile, lol.
If you haven't seen the two Relight movies, I recommend them. They are basically the anime condensed into two feature-length animated movies. Some of the content is the same of course, but there are differences, too. Such as the scene I mentioned above, L's funeral, and other extra scenes.

@@kundaria2 No problem! The two movies I mentioned are Death Note Relight 1: Visions of a God and Death Note Relight 2: L's Successors. If you watch these, watch Relight 2 through the end of the credits. There's a very brief scene of Aizawa and Matsuda finding Light's body. We only see their reactions to it, and it's a very short scene, but still worth seeing, imo. I haven't been able to find these online, but you can buy the DVDs online.
If you're interested, there are four Japanese live-action Death Note movies and a live-action TV drama. I really enjoyed all of these, and each of them are much, much better than the Netflix version. The TV drama is my personal favorite of these and can be found for free on Crunchyroll. The entire Death Note musical can be found on TH-cam.
I'll include the links for the other movies down below. The first one follows the first half of the anime, and the second one follows the second half. Though there are changes, and L survives,
L: Change the World is based on the light novel and follows L's last days. Have tissues ready if you watch this.

Man I miss L, it would be cool if they did some sort of spin off of just him solving difficult cases before the kira case.
I have a couple of suggestions you might be interested in. There is a light novel called Death Note-Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases. This is about L and Naomi and it takes place before Death Note. In fact, L briefly mentions this case in the anime, once Naomi is reported as missing.
There is another light novel called L:Change the World. Which is about L's last days following the end of the KIra case. I recommend reading this one, too. It's really good, imo. They made a Japanese live-action adaptation of this novel which is also really good. It differs from the book a bit, so you may want to read that and watch the movie. The movie is available to watch online. I can give you the link if you're interested.

What ironic is that the illustrator actually first designed L to look attractive in earlier chapters before his face was revealed. Specifically in Volume 1’s earlier chapters before L fully showed his face, but then he changed it so his looks would contrast Light’s
L was perfectly voiced in this dub. Reading the manga, you get a lot of personality from L, but the deliveries here really took the lines to the next level

the reason he looks more attractive when he's first introduced is because his design hadn't been finalized yet. l had first been conceived as a conventionally attractive young man, but obata decided it would be more fun if l and light contrasted each other in their appearance as well. since obata was still learning about l when he was first revealed, certain things (like his way of holding things and his lack of eyebrows) are not present in the first few panels of the manga he appears in. he's noticeably less skinny as well. then his eyebrows disappeared, his eyes became more bug-like and we got the l we know now. how effective all of that was in making him less attractive is debatable, especially since obata seems to draw him either as a wet cat looking guy or a very pretty boy (his specialty).
