Henry Rollins is one of the strongest person to ever walk this earth. I can't even explain how much I respect this human being.
Randoodle lee It seems people have been hating on him lately. I have to admit there are times when he seems over critical on current music and technology. Overall I agree with you though and his body of work from 1980 to present cannot be denied. He is one of the most motivated, focused and humble people I know of.

I love him, I look at his interviews when I'm need a push. It's something about his authenticity.
I like that he's not a kid anymore, he's never stopped growing. Here he's not really grown up yet because America IS so dysfunctional. But he earned his opportunities, and he took them all going at full throttle.
It's corny to say it but you can grow up to this person, I can kind of relate. He appreciates and respects things, so we appreciate and respect him, while for some he's even a role model. He shows that nobody is ever lost, and wherever your life finds you is the perfect starting point for the next thing you can go and do. Full throttle.

Jesus Christ, I keep seeing posts about how "Henry must've had a hand in Joe cole's murder". Just stop you guys. Not only was it his best friend, the FBI and LA police WANTED to put him behind bars, if there was any possible way to convict him they would have done it. He's innocent, it just kills me to read these comments. Imagine losing your best friend and then constantly hearing people say YOU did it. You know how much that would hurt?
@@theinnerstation Yep, it's mainly the result of a cognitive bias/fallacy called the "just-world hypothesis". Some people simply can't accept that injustices/fucked up shit happen in the world for seemingly no reason, and so they need to construct these elaborate conspiracy theories to make sense of it. It goes without saying that this reaction is highly delusional and counterproductive, and ends up hurting innocent people and annoying everybody with critical thinking skills.
@jay63811 they wanted someone to blame for it. He was suspect number 1, they detained him for several hours that day even though they had no reason to. The police dont care who they out behind bars, just that they get someone.
@jay63811 well, the FBI may not have been trying to get him at that specific instance in time, i more meant people in the punk scene in general with the FBI inclusion in that. The FBI and police were always harassing and doing counterintelligence type shit on punk artists, like spreading complete lies about them in media. The FBI may not have been involved in trying to lock him up at that point specifically, but Henry was a target by police and the FBI for over a decade at that point already. They would regularly stalk him and other punk artista, and at different points try to arrest them on trumped up charges or would assault them. They would wait outside of punk shows for fans to come out after shows, would just start beating people for no reason but then would have newspapers publish stories that would claim "punk band black flag incites riot". The FBI worked with local police end did a LOT of shit like that.
@jay63811 jello biafra talked about it a lot recently, its totally true. Henry has talked about this stuff too, the worst story he told was when cops waited outside to beat him down or worse and tried to lure him into an alley, and he just got the hell out of there. Jello biafra of the dead kennedies is literally the person i got the info from about the cops beating punk goers outside of venues and them having newspapers claim the punk bands incited riots, he has a channel and he talked about it in the last 2 months in a series of videos called something like "what happens when the police riot?", there were like 4 parts to this series and it was on his channel "alternative tentacles".
But then, the FBI and CIA have been outed as trying to incite violence and frame counterculture movements since the 50s, beginning with cointelpro when different black movements were demanding civil rights, but it branched out after Nixon was elected into even white communities that were counterculture, thats why the drug war was started, it was to break up dissent and stop younger people from actually bettering society.
But then the CIA was outed in the late 70s/early 80s as being literally the biggest dealer of drugs and having propped up drug lords all over the world, but especially for trafficking drugs in poor communities in the US.
They pushed drugs into both black and white communities, in the 80s with the rise of punk and hip hop it got even worse, Henry has talked about how their drug pushing killed many of his friends and that he never knew who could be an informant, they literally had undercover cops that would stand outside of their studio 24/7, doing nonstop surveillance of them.
This shit is all true, none of these bands hide this info and they talk about it all the time. Henry and jello talk about it a LOT and I'm literally just saying what they said. The deeper into about the CIA and FBI being outed as drug dealers and creating drug lords is just common knowledge from whistleblowers of that time, but the rest is straight from their mouths.

I dont remember which interview with henry had him talking about what i mentioned sadly, i have watched hundreds of Rollins interviews so I have no clue which one it was.
I love that he created his own publishing company, rather than wait for others to 'get him' and publish him.

"Music has always been a way for me to get what's inside outside." Couldn't have said it more succinctly. Henry Rollins has always been an idol of mine - tells it like it is, talented musician, writer, and poet, and more intelligent than most people in the record industry combined.
+David Field You're entitled to your opinion. I don't like all of his music - just like I don't like all the music done by other artists (for example, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, The Clash, etc., etc.) - but if you ever listen to him give a speech/commentary/lecture on various topics, you'll see that he's amazingly intelligent, well-read, and far more concerned with animal/environmental/human rights than most celebrities and average people on Earth. THAT is why I like him the most.

I'm not sure why but I could never stomach Joe rogan's podcast. He has had some of the coolest guests on but I can't get through one entire show. Anyhow, I highly recommend Henry Rollins podcast. I think he did 24 episodes with his assistant Heidi and they are all amazing and cover so many topics
I can't even imagine having my best friend get shot and killed right behind me. Poor guy. Then Henry is there to clean up his deceased pals blood 😔 That alone is traumatic for anyone, regardless of your age.
he mentioned in another interview that he cleaned the blood because Joe's parents were coming to the house/crime scene and he didn't want them to have to see it. Super nice of him to take such a morbid task.
I've heard him talk about this story a couple other time, but him talking about it here is definitely the heaviest.
His story of Joe's death is so deep and inspirational as sad as it is. Notice the host Dave Kendall doesn't even say anything while Hank was telling the story, probably just listening and taking it all in.
In a way, Henry is so primitive and so simple, and yet he`s the most complicated person i know of, he`s sincere, so blank, to the point and true.
He`s basically in a way, the law itself(or what it should be)

Joe;s father was a famous actor in the 70s and 80s Dennis Cole. The song Low self opinion , Is one of my favorites.
Not a biggest fan of his music, but Hank is a very talented man.

I remember when this happened, and it was the same year I got shot during a robbery when I was 21. I was a fan but I ignored it at the time because I had too much shit going on in my own head about my own thing. Watching this is pretty bizarre, because he just oozes fresh trauma as soon as he starts talking about it. Looking down, not really in the room anymore, giving this clinical recitation of events including weird, insignificant details like the Alka Seltzer box... it's just strange to see someone else in that exact state. I remember getting told I turned into a robot or sounded like the Weather Channel back then when I talked about it. Crazy.

Erick Belcher I'm more of a fan of his writing and speaking. Although he made me kind of sad. He writes a weekly music column here in L.A., and I used to write to him about it and he'd occasionally write me back. But then he stopped responding to me.
Erick Belcher oh it was an awesome feeling when he'd write back he's an icon. But his poetry I can take or leave, but he writes a lot of nonfiction, stuff about his travels and also experiences in music which I really liked. But I stopped reading him cause it hurt my feelings. But I still like talking about him on TH-cam.
