Arbhar V2 | The Lexer Method - Reloaded

- For some strange reason I seem to have deleted my V2 video a few months ago. Maybe it was simply because it was too vague to actually help you get your head around it. But after watching it again - as if it was made by someone else - I felt it needs to be on the channel. If you're looking for a deep exploration, there's always the official Instruo epic. I suck at tutorials and demos anyway. The Arbhar remains my favorite granular eurorack synth. V2 doesn't make it twice as good, even though it has more grains, stereo grains and load/save support. But beyond any doubt, the best got better. And a bit more complex with more button combos to remember. The easiest solution to this is to use it a lot.

I finally ordered one, inspired by your videos! Can’t wait until it arrives! Groeten uit Groningen.
Have fun! You will not regret it. Ik heb een paar jaar in Winsum gewoond :) nu weer geboortestad Den Haag.
Instruo is probably one of the most creative eurorack manufacturer.
Definitely. Jason and his team are great! But I am kind of waiting for something bigger than 4 or 6 HP. Something that will blow our minds again.
That should only be a matter of time !
Great video! I'm still getting to know the ADDAC 112 fully before I add any more granular stuff to the rack, but I think Arbhar will probably be the next one, when the time comes. Can't wait to see your deep dive into the ADDAC, I love to see the differing perspectives and workflows people get into with these kind of modules.
Thanks! ADDAC 112 video coming in May, hoopefully.
My all time favorite module, I sold v1 and bought v2 again
Amazing Video!! The Arbhar is my favourite module! The sound design possibilities are endless! Thanks for all the hard work you put in to your videos! Truly amazing!! 💜
You are very welcome! For me, it's a great way to read the manual and learn the module(s).
Amazing video as usual, very inspiring.
I struggle with finding suitable settings for clocked rhythmic use. Like you stated the mess is fun but suggestions for setting it up for rhythmic sequencing would be ace.
Feels like there’s better ways than via vca, envelope and modulating the buffer position with cv sequencer (mimetic digitalis) like I do
I’ve had an Arbhar for a few months, got mine from Signal Sounds in Glasgow (recommended ) what I like most about Arbhar is how it sounds, I think it is clear and warm sounding compared to Beads or Morphagene which sound more cold and digital. I can’t explain why this is, just what my ears tell me. Arbhar is simple enough to use but to make full use of it you will need the manual and watch the demo video made by Instruo both excellent . Plus… I live about 30mins from Instruo HQ in South Glasgow City so have to support 👍 🏴👍
It's not just Arbhar. Instruo's sound quality is top notch. They're not just tech people, but also musicians. This always helps.
Thank you this video gives me hope, I struggle quite a bit with the Arbhar,
I think it requires a few hours of dedication and a cool source. It's so worth learning this thing inside out. If you have a V2, stick to classic for a while. The V1 is more a one button/knob per function and a few combos you'll often use.
That 'spread' stuff really opens another world. I had been using it for doing stuff like supersaws, but I didn't understand that it could basically do chords if controlled with CV. I'm going to make myself a tool in the Bitwig grid to select those spread values accurately. Thanks.
Sir, .. appreciative of your interest in the granular realm. The very first module I purchased was a Grainshift, by Audio Damage. Collecting tasty grains .. and then allowing the powerful electronics that we have now, to manipulate these grains .. the sky is the limit.
Just checked out the Grainshift. Wow, it's a shame it's off the market. I'd love to have one. I don't think I have anything that can do this. Maybe the XAOC frequency shiftor.
@@CinematicLaboratory Hmm, .. I'm somewhat surprised that you said this. When I said "manipulate grains" I was referring to Beads. Grainshift was in my skiff, until I got a MI Blades, .. and ran out of space, so out Grainshift went. And, with Beads being available .. eh, I had the granular covered (or so I thought).
In fairness, .. those first modular sessions, .. all I had was Grainshift & my keyboard, .. no Stages, or Marbles feeds, at that time.
@@CinematicLaboratory Hey, .. I'll keep you in mind, .. there's no reason for me to hang on to this, if you have some interest in this. I just checked on shipping costs .. it seems pretty reasonable.
@@user-ng9uc3vu3k For what I've heard I noticed some really cool pitch shifting of voices while preserving the words. Like a real time Nebulae time stretching. I love that. I think you should hang on to that module and explore it again with 2024 effects and modulation.
@@CinematicLaboratory Trying this again, (1st send failing). OK, perhaps I should re-explore this elderly module. The fact that it made you curious, ..now, makes me curious. ..:)
Man since i've subbed to your channel i've been gassing so hard..
Top content for eurorack for sure.
i have a neutron and a quadrantid swarm and recently bought an rackbrute 6U with some simple utilities, like batumi, tangrams, mix3, bastl ciao and a mult.
I've been building racks in modular grids but struggling with fitting utilities (and sequencing)
Could u (maybe) do a vid or series about your favorite utilities?
That would be super interesting (to me at least)
Groeten uit Dordrecht
If you interested in a kind of a Swiss Army knife have look at droid from „dermannmitdermaschine“ - there is also a vid on this channel.
Just a thought... Why not add an Expert Sleepers ES-8? I have one and my eurocrack modules can happily talk to my iPad for (very) fancy effects and MiRack modular...
Groeten uit Nieuwegein 😆
that droid system, while impressive, is too menu divey for my likes
I own the Mojave and the Beads, was thinking about selling one of them but they all can do something unique. This video made me think I should get the Arbhar as well. ;D Just making things more complicated. haha
Arbhar is no doubt the best classic granular module, all others are granular delays (small buffer for real-time granulation like clouds, beads, Mojave, etc) or samplers that can somehow granulate (Morphogene, Nebula, bitbox) Addac 112 is in between, different approach, but a looper and granular engine with screen, and then there is the Miso cornflakes, polyphonic? which I don't own or tested. Are you going to give it a try any day?
video on the zaps pls!
Indeed, that's another loose end I need to dive into. Super cool module, but not easy to fathom.
Reminded me Silent Hill soundtrack.
You gotta stop costing me money!!!
It's not me, it's the rabbit hole. Sorry for the convenience :).
Hope your pinky finger is ok ❤
It's an old video, and my pinky is brand new :) My wife slammed the door to avoid the cat entering the room. Unfortunately my finger was in between.
