Update Part 2: Turns out Ludwig leaked the video early th-cam.com/video/44FnFP0vlBE/w-d-xo.html
19:02 It was confirmed the video was leaked, by Ludwig. Comments and upload dates of his podcast confirm that Ludwig leaked the channel three seperate times, so the algorithmic pop off had nothing to do with the reaction, but everything to do with him using his already existent fan base to advertise the video. th-cam.com/video/44FnFP0vlBE/w-d-xo.html

I'd say that i'm surprised, but it would be a lie. So much for not using his face, voice and brand, then saying later that he did the video. Probably noticed how insignificant the " bump " from Mizkif's reaction was and how his experiment had failed miserably.

I don't think most people believe world class tennis players (or at least top level) are good because of luck. So you are arguing that his experiment showed it isn't luck. Having experience is the opposite of luck. The point Darkviper made about needing luck to get the experience stands, but to consider having the experience completely luck is wierd.

Yes, I totally disagree with his video on eletronic ballots (in some parts, ignorance of the population on how they work is a valid criticism and I seeing this in pratice now in Brazil... GOOD GOD I SEEING SH** ON THIS ELECTION, CAN'T WAIT FOR THE COUP, SEND HELP) but It was based upon the shi*** ones in England and USA (?, don't remember correctly), where, apparently, It has little to no difference from a normal computer (Jesus, invest in technology, our counting here only takes a day and in the USA took almost a month [or more, wouldn't be surprised], what the hell, either that or get gud in counting) so It's overral a good video that pass the points very well.

You already know where all the pitfalls are so you can easily avoid them.

A better example of a new content creator came from Ludwig funny enough
Some years ago he did a block where he would slide into streamers anonymously and ask them to do tricks. One of these people with an unknown Super Mario 64 speedrunner named Jacktheali3n. This young kid in a dimly lit room with pretty mediocre capture equipment succeeds and Ludwig donates him $1000 (Good on him, that's a very charitable donation) and Jack begins to break down with happiness. Not only that 1000, but he also gets a fat boom of viewers, one time breaking 8900 at once thanks to that exposure, and it got noticed by several publications giving him even more publicity. Good on the kid, he even did some videos with Ludwig and his circle, so it was far from a one off
Nowadays he can barely break 100 views on YT, his peak is usually in the 30s-40s on Twitch, and so forth. Jack got a great moment to remember and again, props to Ludwig for giving this young kid a chance to grab the brass ring. However if we're looking at growth, he fell off after only a week, and he flatlined. Jack's just an average and pleasant kid who did speedrunning. He wasn't an editor, he wasn't a booming personality, and he wasn't a marketer and it shows in the aftermath.
I've been around on this site since 2006 and while I see trends, thumbnails, editing, and presentation that may garner an audience, it's nothing if you can't put it into practice. A kid like Jack starting 5 days before Ludwig gave him his big chance isn't just ill-equipped, he's a first time dishwasher being put on Hell's Kitchen and expected to just catch that lightning in a bottle and run

That ending line is so true in so many levels. Saw people with horrible mindsets in previous videos of this series saying how they admitedly know that react content is bad and lazy, but because because it's popular, it'll never change, there's no point of complaining about it.
This is not about making a change. It's about spreading awareness and simply standing by what's right. Yes, it's possible that nothing will change in 10, 15, 20 years in the future, but it will never stop being wrong or scummy, no matter how many people support it.
In short, you can't hope to make any big changes in the world if you're not willing to try and change the small things first.

The worst thing about the video Ludwig made is that at a glance, it might seem like a great thing. Telling new TH-camrs that they just need skill to succeed on TH-cam?! Awesome!! Inspiring!!
But the truth is, when these folks sit down and really apply themselves into a video, not realizing its short-comings, and then don't see success, it's going to be devastating. They're going to assume that they just don't have what it takes, and likely get disinterested and unmotivated regarding TH-cam.
I think Tom Scott's advice was a lot more responsible. Basically stating that TH-cam is something you need to put your heart and soul into to become successful, and even when you do that, there's no guarantee. So you need to be appreciative and value all the success you get, because it's something most creators never experience. That makes me feel that if I have a video get 100, a 1000, or even 2000 views, that's an awesome achievement, and something I should value and push for. And that's a way better mindset than thinking that I can get 1k views in 24 hours with $50 bucks--something that is, for new creators, just not possible.

As you've shown, that sort of response seems to be the first and only line of defense that these leeches have. Much like a persistent weed in a yard, one of them gets lucky and roots deeply into the ground. They grow way faster than the millions of little blades of grass because they steal the water, nutrients, and root space that would have otherwise gone to the grass. The grass will slowly die as the weed happily starves out the competition, and all you're left with in the end is a yard full of weeds. My own brother wanted to try and create a very niche type of content. Then again, he's only in it for the money and not the passion. He truly doesn't have the time or the patience to do it. He still tried. My brother looked to me as like a "expert" in TH-cam. Watching and creating are two different things entirely.
The only thing I did to help with my brother, even though I knew it won't go anywhere. Was help with a Thumbnail through Photoshop. Because of my skills carried over from Photography class. And thats just it. Releases the video with a bad mic, not so good voice acting type of voice. Then unedited gamplay of him playing a certain game. It was god awful. Luckly, he did quit when I told him he needs the editing skills, better mic, more time, passion, etc... And of course I am not a creator.

back in 9th grade during lockdown i used to make gaming videos and trust me when i say this, its just passion. you need to have passion for making videos like i knew back then that no one was interested in my videos, yet i made them, no matter how trash my mic was, how trash my commentary was, how trash my editing was, in the end, when i saw the completed and exported video, i felt happy and content that i did something from the scratch and wow its good.
its a painfully slow process, and i was still in school and wasn't too serious abt it so it took my about 3 years to get really good at making content, i made a well edited video with a good microphone and spent many hours editing it, the final product was very professional and i used photoshop to make the thumbnail and I've gotten good at it because of those 3 years of trash i made, the video hit a few k views, i abandoned that channel later because I'm busy but i might go back to it.
point being, for me to make a fantastic video it took my 3 years of slowly acquired skills, now i know abt transitions, background music audio levels, trimming properly, zooms an keying in effects, how to write a script that is appealing cause UK u need to make a script that latches ppl in or else they'll just click off, etc etc. and when i see ludwing just yapping abt how easy it is, it hurt me somewhere lol
anyways, I'm happy those skills didn't go to waste, i currently help out an ngo with graphic designing of their announcements and editing of their events but i might just go back to content creation this year.
but yeah, its all about the passion to make videos and you need to embrace and learn a lot of shit in production and post production.

DarkViper - I first found your channel after the FriendlyBaron hitpiece back in the day, so it's fair to say that I first watched your content with an unfair prejudice against you. It wasn't too long before I realized his claims were unfounded, and I became a casual viewer of pacifist/hitless and your other gta content.
However, to me, this is the best series of videos you've created, and it has grown my respect for you immensely. I came to the series having viewed and believed this Ludwig video, and also holding the opinion that "high quality" reactions were not harmful or even beneficial. This series absolutely changed that.
You've done a great job of structuring these arguments to change minds, and I particularly appreciate that you dismantled Hasan while still endorsing anticapitalist ideals (something I've eseen "more political" leftist content creators fail to do).
Obviously, you've got a great career ahead of you in GTA content, but personally, I would love to see you engage more as a commentator or hear more of your thoughts political issues (perhaps on a second channel).
Whatever you do, I appreciate you making this series and I'm here to see more!

everything matt has said about the algorithm checks out completely. i got several videos that got over 30k views in the first month, and they're just game clips i recorded. the most effort i've put into any of them is a custom thumbnail sometimes. that's it. the algorithm just happened to find a niche audience that would watch them. so when guys like Ludwig say luck doesn't play a big part, all i see is some dude smelling his own farts like "damn look how good i am" like eugh

So basically Ludwig is saying while gaining no experience from the first video in how to make videos you should do it again and again?
