In my opinion, if this thar is to penetrate the kinda luxury suv market at this price point, you have to have a interior like this which feels lux and that too many owners, especially the 5 door ones would not really take it extreme off roading, so while they would have a premium suv which doesnt feel like a jeep one bit from the inside, they have the peace of mind of this being a capable jeep/thar under the bonnet and the exterior too.
A Lotta people complaining about the rear quarter design, interior color, and the roofline. But you know that Mahindra has a winner on its hands that'll outsell the 3 door thar and eat a major chunk of the korean twins market share.
Its to differentiate enough from Wrangler to oppose any lawsuits in the future But the designer they got is the same person who made the macho looking xuv 300 into comparatively less prettier 3xo. The guy is overhyped for the work he do. Not great move at all Get the pninfarina designers for atleast the premium cars of M. Thanks
Had they done the roof flat, then it would look straight up Wrangler and would have to be ready for a lawsuit. Seems like they copied the entire exterior of Wrangler and modified the minor things to avoid getting caught.
My main criticism for this car is Mahindra adding all those comfort and feel good features for the average buyer and this not being targeted towards people who actually want an SUV. So now this is very appealing to all the wannabees in our cities who'll now have all the more reason to drive over footpaths and places where they shouldn't be. Mahindra for sure knows its target audience.
Why is everyone just reviewing the obvious? I would like to know the following: 1. How does 4x2 drive on highways, city and off-road 2. 12.99 lac is just a gimmick. All the variants along with the features should be talked about. Like sunroof doesn't come in 12.99. You just have to shell out a hell lot of money to get that sunroof variant and 19 inchers 3. Is 4x2 gonna skid a whole lot on muddy terrains 4. How much do the dual tone variants start from? 5. For how long a family of 5 can travel in this car without a sore back and butt ET CETRA????

370NM in an offroader! Good for us Indians to play with but sadly it's losing in International markets. Scorpio N is already getting pushed big time by Tank 300. With Roxx, they had a great chance to develop something significant but it's not the case.
Indian wrangler is known as THAR ROXX 4×4 ❤🎉🎊🎉 No other vehicle can compare with its present features and new looks with offroad capabilities... now a family can enjoy and experience on road and offroad without any doubts along Mahindra THAR😊😄😍
Hey Gavin, you are Perfect to review this car loved your reviews as you are my fav in 4 wheels and Rishad in 2 wheels You guys are just about middle age to make youth and elders comfortable about the driveability
While M&M is overselling their suspension story, I notice the camera mounted somewhere on dashboard shaking overwhelmingly, even the front left seat back :) while Gavin talks about the suspension.
The name 'ROXX' is probably a derivative of the currently selling international product, the Mahindra 'ROXOR'. Since mahindra has big plans to go international, I am guessing this name is supposed to be a successor to this.
Hey this might be completely out of line but I have question: The front extension under the grill... isn't that an added safety hazard? The damage from front impact to the opposite party would be much worse because of the pointed strip right?
Why automobile industry is releasing 40 variants for one vehicle with minor seat color changing also one variant and mostly top end is reaching nearly 30+ lakhs
Fantastic review as always. A brilliant move by Mahindra. This could be one of the best modern urban SUV by Mahindra. Giving more choices to buyers. Also if there could be some options for interiors that would make it even more appealing. Hopefully the wait times would not be crazy like other Mahindras.
I wanted to check this out and finally think about getting a MM car but this makes me go towards the legendary cutie Jimny. Simpler, nicer, smaller in city and it can also do city and highway drives of legal speeds.
4:33 As a 3 door thar owner, that rear door lock always gets stuck when there’s anything obstructing the lock, like a suitcase, bags. Mahindra should really have a look into this
Those complaining about the white leather, I can tell few things to note: Most customers will be city/highway users and less often into off-road situations. People want more status, attention to detail, road presence, and comfort. Hence, the white leather can do the job well, but I also agree that brown/black leather could have been an option for off-road enthusiasts.
I think the designing team knows what they are doing. Cream interior in 5 door thar is fine because the one who buy them are those who like to have a suv experience while also having feature confort of normal premium cars. The serious offroaders will go for 2 door as they are good for offroad.
Quick question. When is the Scorpio N upgrade expected. Will that be in beginning of 2025. Can some one give some guidance on that. Also will Scorpio N have ADAS in the upgraded avatar ??
I wonder what would be more practical this roxx with diesel or petrol , or go with the xuv700 4x4 is not much needed and this will be the first car in family 🙂
Just need to add 2 inch lift with 33" mud tyres a nice front bar with winch, rear bar to carry extra fuel and water, a roof rack with roof tent and few more lights. Will make nice tourer.
ROX is a play on ROXOR I think. Mahindra is possibly aiming the US market with this looks like. Lookwise they have specifically addressed the trademark points on which they lost to JEEP and kept a name which sounds very similar to ROXOR which has become a cult ATV in USA.
Thar Roxx is one of the better made machines in the price segment that it is coming in. But I would still prefer my Gurkha (5 door) because I can seat 7 people and put luggage on the roof.
I drive 1000kms a month on an average. Which fuel is better for me? Petrol mileage is low, around 8 i am told, while diesel has dpf issues. I drive mostly in the city.
The new Mahindra Thar Roxx 4×4 has received positive reviews, but there's little mention of the absence of a petrol 4×4 option in the top model. Given its adventurous design, the diesel model may face challenges in extreme conditions, such as -10°C temperatures, due to the higher flash point of diesel fuel, which can cause difficult cold starts. Has the automaker introduced any new technology in this model to address the serious cold start issues experienced in older versions?

I loved everything in this car except for the roof design...it remindes me of Bolero and old Armada...they should have made it flat like Jeep wrangler
Atleast, let Mahindra design roof alone. Anyway, rest of the vehicle is a copy of Jeep Wrangler
