- Here, we demonstrate how to open and start a Ford Flex and Expedition with a dead key fob battery. These are late model push-button start versions. And yes this is a back up plan that works to get in and get going, and the start process differs from what the owner's manual shows.
Of course, starting the car assumes that the start battery is good. And if not, we will get you inside and ready for a jump start!

I recently bought a used Ford Flex. My one fob stopped working, The owners Manuel showed a slot in the console however it wasn’t there. I watched several videos and they all talked of the console slot or cup holder. My flex doesn’t have either. I called the local ford dealership and after talking with 3 people who had no idea I finally found yours. Thanks for being the only one with the answer!!!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I replaced the battery in my fob and it stopped working and I could not start car. Called dealer and they told me sounds like a need a new fob. called another dealership and they told me they could reprogram it (probably for a huge fee). I did not even know this slot was in my console. I opened the door with the key, the alarm went off, placed the fob in the slot and the car started right up and now the fob works again!! 2014 Ford Flex.
Interesting. I will note that some Ford's need to be reaquianted with their fobs after the battery change! Thanks!
How do you get the fob reacquainted with the car.I also did what the video said and now I can start my car but the doesn't work the doors
I can start my car but my fob still doesn't work. Anybody out there know how to get my fob working, I have a new battery in the fob
Well, first, make sure the adhesive backing has been removed from the new battery. Won't work otherwise. If its gone look in your manual for "Creating a My Key" on about P 47. Troubleshooting is about P 51 (I don't have a year or model, so the numbers could be different, but it will be close). Follow the instructions...
2015 ford expedition dead battery so key fob won't work. And the extra key that comes out the fob will not open the door either.
Sounds like its the wrong key and fob...
