    Im getting a flex today! I had been driving an old ford taurus x. It now has 300 thousand miles on it. Still going strong but time for a new car. I've been loving the look of the flex and when my boyfriend said it has same wheel base as my current car, I was sold. Ford taurus x rides like a dream and I drive an hour to work and an hour back home every day. I'm getting the limited with moon roof!

    Just bought a 2017 Flex Limited in Shadow Black yesterday with 60K miles for 19K. Came from a corporate fleet so it had all of its maintenance records. Words can't describe how much I'm amazed by this vehicle. This model really did fly under the radar

    We have an older Flex, have had it for 4.5 years, absolutely love it. The mileage isn't super but it's not a daily commuter so we don't mind. Our friends are always amazed at the space inside. We often have 7 people in it. And it's NOT a van.

    My family has owned a 2011 Limited Ecoboost AWD since 2013, and it's been a fantastic vehicle. Holds me, my wife, and our 4x kids AND our stuff without not needing roof bins or trailer hitch bins (ummm, because the vehicle is big enough to hold people, unlike all of the lame little over-styled sport cutes on the road).
    It drives like a car, has fantastic grip in the rain, snow, and of course at highway speeds in the dry, and it gets very decent fuel economy for a car over 2 tonnes. The engine makes torque EVERYWHERE in the rpm sweep, and the car is pretty much one of the ultimate sleepers. Put some good tires on them (like I did, Pirelli Scorpion Verde Plus V-Rated tires), and aftermarket brakes, and the car responds and performs even better.
    I love that it doesn't look like anything else on the road, and the fact that it will blow the doors off of a lot of other more expensive and (dare I say) pretentious luxo-utes out there. This is the vehicle for the men and women out there that need to haul more than 2.5 kids, and still have a vehicle that is suited to driving enthusiasts.
    Ford was going to cancel these cars back in 2015, and they never did, because the people that own one, are repeat buyers, and are developing a cult following. Speaking of cult-followings, there are tons of aftermarket performance parts for the Ecoboost, and you can easily get one over 400hp and 400 ft lbs without too much trouble (these engines were designed and built to make over 600hp, for durability).
    I am looking to buy a 2nd one to replace my 2012 Focus Titanium (which is a modified sedan with a manual transmission and some aftermarket mods done to it), so that both my wife and myself have his and hers vehicles that will fit all of our kids without issue.
    Cheers!

    Seriously considering a 2018 when my Fusion lease comes up. Great visibility and tons of room. I don't always need the room but it's a pain when you do and you don't have it. The other thing I like is that it''s not all swoopy and doesn't look like it is running don hill.

    We owned a 2011 and now a 2015 Flex, both were purchased new. I can proudly report that the Flex is the best driving vehicle we have ever owned. Access in and out of the Flex is easy with it being low to the ground. Access to the third row is MUCH easier than the Explorer and most any other three row vehicle on the road. Apparently FORD doesn't want to sell too many of this amazing vehicle. If they did, they would advertise it! Has anyone EVER seen a FLEX ad in print or on television? I have not. If they were to get a a Jimmy Fallon, a Rob Lowe, Melissa McCarty, or the like, to be the spokesperson, and actually ADVERTISE the Flex, there would be no limit to the number of units they could sell. The FLEX should, and could, sell the same, or more, number of units as does the Explorer. Rather than kill the FLEX... ADVERTISE IT! Of course... we need to remember that FORD is the same company that stopped RANGER production allowing GM to fill that market. With the return of the RANGER, they will now play 'catch up.' I will be helping FORD... I am still driving my 2010 Ranger as I wait for the 2019. I will also be purchasing another FLEX the moment I hear they are killing it off. My hope is they don't kill it but let it live on and on and on and... Come on FORD.... wise up!!!

    My mom actually wanted one of these back in the day, but it was too expensive for her, so instead she bought a Chrysler Town & Country as the replacement for her 2001 Mercedes-Benz C240 because she needed a car that was easier to load a baby into since my sister was born in 2008 when she was looking at the Flex and a bunch of different minivans, but as of 2015 she now has a Prius

Bummed guess I wont get one … unless someone figure out how to put a Toyota engine in one. Lol!

    Had to make a trip to Jacksonville from wpb fl. It did GREAT on gas although 3.6l. The flex rides flawlessly for it's size. Although the flex can be a Dad or mom cehicle, but I must say definitely felt the masculinity van vibe (my opinion). My wife who doesn't really like ford was REALLY amazed as to ride quality as well as how roomy yet not too huge as the trend tend to go for SUV's the flex is. I was soo impressed it made me ask myself "why not get a flex as my next family or even my personal vehicle?" Ford deserves a thumbs up for this amazing suv & should consider to keep it's model in line up for years to come. And awesome video/review as well. You pretty much covered the character of the flex

  • @Gohot229
    @Gohot229 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Simply it's a station wagon. It stands on it's Own, not a 'like' vehicle. A roof rack wouldn't go unwelcome. The side 'lines' look good, sort of back to the days of Chris Craft day boats and perhaps 'woody's'. Outfitted with the wheel option that is used on the Mustang, it would look rather smart. Win the Lottery...... I will get one or more! MPG... if you could reach 25-27, that would be ample for the size.

  • @JPVee511
    @JPVee511 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Pros:
    I like the Flex for its utilitarian and stylish design. It has none of the off-road frills I would never need and with the EcoBoost V6 it is a nice sleeper. Inside, the spacious 2nd row (with bucket seats) means my wife and I up front don't get scrunched by the rear-facing car seats behind us. The spacious foot well/floor in the second row also make them a convenient area for placing bulky items. There is just enough space behind the 3rd row for groceries and gear. With the 2nd and 3rd row folded, the Flex hauls like a pick-up truck. Techie things like push-button start, digital clusters, and ambient lighting continue to make driving the Flex a cool treat.
    Cons:
    The doors have a wrap around design along the bottom and when parked next to higher curbs and are opened unawares, are susceptible to bottoming out and loosing paint. The SYNC2 system and touch screen is frequently slow to respond to button presses. At less than 30k miles, its had its share of recalls and warranty repairs, fortunately nothing major mechanically. Currently, I'm dealing with suspension issues and had to replace the original tires with less than 23k miles. I'm averaging around 12mpg around Los Angeles (car is frequently loaded).
    Overall:
    Our 2013 continues to serve the family willingly and comfortably while looking great in Limited form with Appearance Package. I just need to get the suspension looked at and fixed to get rid of noise and premature tire wear.

      Hey Sawai, well congrats on deciding to buy a Ford Flex!!!!! Don't worry to much about the Fuel efficiency the FLEX is similar to the Explorer on fuel consumption. The Explorer is a great vehicle, but you see them on the road all the time here in America. The Flex has its own look about it and its different. I'm the type of person that like to be different than everyone else. So thats really why I like the FLEX over the Explorer. Let me know when you end up buying your new Flex. It is a great ride. I think if you slapped Toyota or Honda emblem on it more people would buy it. Not me, but others.
    The Duratec engine with the chain driven water pump gives me some pause :)
    I'm a Ford owner as well and Ford should blame themselves. Dealers around here have one or none on the lots.
    They don't promote it or even try. I'm currently looking at one now and very few are set up with a tow package.

    • @CarolinaCarVideos
      @CarolinaCarVideos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jim, good point there about the dealers not promoting the FLEX. I think Ford Dealers are more interested in promoting the trucks than actual vehicles like this. I've always tried to put more eyes on the FLEX with my youtube videos, because I really do think its a great vehicle and yes does not get enough love from the dealers/manufacture.

    Please don't use a fisheye lens when showing vehicles, it doesn't make sense to distort the vehicle dimensions.

    • @CarolinaCarVideos
      @CarolinaCarVideos  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I purchased a fisheye lens back in 2013 and I used it a few times for car videos, but never for filming the actual review. It was just for fun action shots etc.. ended up selling that lens for 400 bucks a few years later. The lens I'm using in all my car reviews currently and for the past 2 years is the Canon 10-22mm wide angle lens. I've been so pleased with this lens for walkaround reviews. I don't have to back out far from the vehicle to get the car in the shot and its perfect for filming interiors.

    Low to the ground makes it harder to get out. So I disagree with you on that. But I like the Flex. It is completely underrated and rarely thought of. That is why they are so cheap used.

    • @TJW68
      @TJW68 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Low to the ground makes it the perfect height to get out. Seat height is higher than a sedan and lower than a minivan or SUV. It's freakin' PERFECT.

    Why don’t more people drive the flex? Because it looks like a shoe box on wheels, and most people don’t like them because the people that drive them are the ones taking 20 minutes to order at McDonald’s in the morning, seriously some of us have places to be!
    *Edit: I love my ford but that statement about less upside down car payments can’t be true when a 5 year old fusion can be nabbed for 10k not to mention the way escapes values drop like rocks

    I would love Ford to keep this vehicle around too but it needs a complete overhaul. Give ir all of the new goodies that thee upcoming 2020 Explorer is going to have. Keep the Vista roof as an option. With something new like having the back sun roof open as well. I'm 6' 2", 459 lbs and size 13 shoes. I need wider leg room. Especially more room to position my feet for long trips. I own a 2017 Flex Limited with the 365 horse power, Ecoboost twin turbo engine. Wow!! Doors this thing have power!. It's thee anti- mini van and is perfect for ride sharing. It's easy to get in and out of and can fit almost anybody of any size. It's a fantastic vehicle!
