    Its the small things, such as the fact the OLED version you have does not have touchscreen. You can choose OLED with 400nits, or the touch 4k with 500 nits. There is no OLED touchscreen available from Dell.

  • @lumdermaku

    Hey, nice review but could you please try to be more specific on how you used the laptop to achieve such low battery life? F.e: brightness level, power option, what apps did you use(just browsing the web, editing videos, or both mixed, etc). Also, did you experience high battery consumption after you woke the laptop from sleep? Since last version 9570, Dell is using the new Modern Standby( a.k.a connected standby) which wakes the laptop very quick but consumes more power while it's sleeping.

    • @JideaniSayz
      @JideaniSayz  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good stuff. Yeah as I mentioned in the video I keep my brightness on max and since I do video editing and view 4k content on TH-cam it took most of its toll on the battery. That's when I get about 3 hours but anything else like browsing the internet, word processing tasks, accessing files, etc. you'll get 4,maybe 5 hours tops before you hit 15%. The laptop does boot up fast but not noticeable faster than any other laptop with an ssd. That 4k display does a lot of the consumption.

    • @JideaniSayz

      Stay with the i7! The laptop's design doesn't satisfy a cooling solution that can handle the power of an i9. My laptop has an i9 (which I'll be releasing a review on soon) and it's really powerful but Gigabyte made sure to design it with multiple cooling vents.

      Specifically for use with photo editing and light 4k video editing

    • @JideaniSayz
      @JideaniSayz  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're two totally different units. Dedicated graphics and processor power are the two main components that generate the most heat so its hard to compare them. 2 in 1's are built for power house users but there are always a few that can get the job done if you're talking some small 4k editing work like the ice lake processors. If you push it harder than that though you will run into throttling issues.

      @@alexmenz8215 I would get the i7 to be honest. They do better with thermals. The new i9's don't give you that much of a performance increase, unless you plan on getting a gaming laptop which should handle heat better I'd say a 9th Gen i7 processor with those 6 cores is the sweet spot. Great review. I am switching from a basic mac to windows just because I need a high processor with a big screen size and these things are not cheap if I want to go with apple. however, I have been debating between HP Spectre x360 and the XPS 15 after watching both of your videos and your recommendation to go with XPS I will get the XPS since it's build quality is close to mac which makes me feel way better about XPS. But, do you think I should wait for the 10th gen or is it going to be almost the same as the 9th gen?

    • @JideaniSayz
      @JideaniSayz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest i would go with that 9th. The 9th gen were famous for being solid and very reliable. When the 10th gen came out they didn't show significant improvement. In some cases none at all. I dropped a link in the description for two models you can check out, they're both 9th gen.

    • @JideaniSayz
      @JideaniSayz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But everything comes down to what type of work you're doing. I do video editing and work with a lot of 4k files so i went with the Gigabyte Aero because it offered me more juice with a cooling solution to ensure my laptop was fitted for the task. They heat about the same really, considering they both use the same type of 6 core processor they both can handle the workload. I just think the XPS has a better screen due to it's more color accuracy and it's much brighter! better touchpad, better speakers and might be slightly quicker due to Dell's optimization strategy. They both have 4k touch displays so you're good there.

      No worries. It's can be confusing especially considering that the lower number (7590) is actually the newer processor. But that's really it, it's a difference of processor. The 7590 is a new generation processor. It's 9th generation compared to the 9570's 8th gen. So you essential get a beefier brain that can span from lower end to higher clock speeds than the 9570.

    Alienware is great! I have a desktop R7. However, as far as a laptop goes...I am looking for battery life. A gaming laptop is going to eat up quite a bit of battery life. They are not known for going more than 2 to 3 hours on a full charge (and this is a generous estimate), so for me it is not worth it. Fancy laptop and all with globs of power, but being tethered to the wall is a deal-breaker for me.
    My 2016 Inspiron 15 inch model 5558 is ok, but as for the battery life, I cannot go 1 hour without needing to "plug up." Not happy with this. But on the plus side it does have the numeric keys.
    Can you think of a Dell (or other brands) that come built with at least a 15 inch touch screen, has lots of power, 16gb of ram, M.2 ssd for less than $1,200? And that has great battery life (at least 6 to 8 hours for me). I'd even take great battery life over the numeric key pad feature if I had to make a choice.
    I have heard of some of Dell's offerings in the 13 inch laptops, but that is too small for me. The 15 inch is perfect and the 17 inch is a boat anchor.
    I'd look for one used on eBay to get it for a better price.

      If your focus on battery there are certainly a few that would do the trick. One that comes to mind is the LG Gram. Also keep in mind the more powerful the laptop the more impact on battery so it depends on what you'll be doing with it.

You were stuck between picking a laptop that wasn't powerful enough to do the type of work you're accustomed to and laptops that were over the top with specs and expensive. This would include most of Dell, HP, Chrome book and any other thin styled laptops. See my review regarding this on this video th-cam.com/video/llBTK9BYvGM/w-d-xo.html However, this is a 6 core processor laptop so you should be fine, just keep in mind editing and heavy performance applications can push it to the brink. 1. Fingerprint Scanner
    2. CPU Cooling Fan
    3. Functioning Security Login (PIN/Password/Fingerprint Options)
    4. SD Card Reader Functionality.
    Dell has not delivered Warranty Services as advertised and purchased in March 2019.

    I have personally spent over 50 hours baby sitting Dell support teams to diagnose/repair the system.
    My personal billing rate is $175/hour of which Dell has made no effort to provide reasonable compensation.
    The system has never been serviced properly even though it has been shipped to the Dell repair center two times.
    The system has been diagnosed by Dell with a failed SD Card Reader, a failed motherboard and a failed CPU cooling fan.
    I have personally diagnosed the XPS 15 with an "unrecognized fingerprint reader"
    Dell is fallen hard and now delivers issue ridden products and horrible customer service.

      If you bill $175 per hour, just buy another laptop and be done with it. Seems like you have a big chip on your shoulder.

      @@d95mback Duh. What do you think I am typing on. My new Zenbook 15. This is the replacement to my 8 year old Asus ROG laptop (now my backup laptop) that is lighter, portable and powerful. But, to your statement "chip on my shoulder", it seems like you would the kind of guy to just let someone reach in your pocket and steal $1600 of your hard earned dollars and not fight back. I have principals. One of them is never let a thief steal your money without fighting back. In this case, I did not let Dell steal my hard earned dollars. I now have my full refund in my bank account and I feel much better about having justice served to Dell :)

    I got one of these. Just less than a month later it started freezing. A couple days later I had time to run the self diagnostics. They showed memory errors which I followed the instructions to report. It seemed a case was open and I was instructed to wait for contact. But the next business day I called anyway and was informed nothing would have progressed on that case so a new one was opened. One bank of memory and motherboard were replaced under basic warranty. But the tech could not get self discs running. After many calls and lots of promises it is almost a month later and parts for fixing it are still not available. Basic one day onsite service is a joke. This laptop can not keep itself cool. Stay away from it. I just do a mix of things and no games. I have had great service from my old Dell L502X. No refund was allowed because I did not request it before the 30 day return period. There is a good reason so many used units are on eBay. Avoid this laptop.

    2019 XPS-15 9570 Dealbreaker!!!
    I bought a new XPS-15 9570.
    After using it for a little while, the cursor started erratically jumping
    around the screen, selecting cells in spreadsheets at random, change selection
    areas while using the mouse, etc. The problem
    was intermittent and made the machine virtually unusable. It tried everything I could think of, took it
    back for service, they had no solution.
    I did some searching on “Erratic Cursor Movement” and found
    a post on the Dell community about it.
    See link and note below.
    www.dell.com/community/XPS/XPS-15-9575-cursor-jumping-to-same-spot/td-p/7252690
    “The issue for me ended up being the HID-compliant pen
    driver. I noticed that the "pen cursor" would sometimes flash on the
    screen briefly in the spot my cursor kept jumping to. Once I disabled the pen
    driver my issue hasn't recurred since. There must be some sort of driver
    conflict that's causing the pen to activate on its own causing the cursor to
    jump around.”
    I didn’t know the random symbol I was seeing on the screen
    was a Pen Cursor since I don’t use one.
    Disabling the driver solved the problem.
    Just go into the Control Panel | Hardware and Sound, select Device Manager, right-click on HID compliant
    PEN and disable the driver. Problem
    solved!!!
    No Pen available now but I don’t use one anyway and I can
    use this computer without any problems.
    This was beyond frustrating and I was ready to give it back
    if they would take or else eat the loss and get a different machine. I hope this helps somebody with a similar
    problem.
    Interestingly, Dell seems to have closed that thread so I
    can’t add or reply to any comments but that sure solved my problem.
