    Agree with your points, and look forward to the Bad & Ugly video!🙂
    With my C40, I would add the practicality of getting things easy in and out of trunk, at least compared to my previous S90. However, I also miss my S90...

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yeah. The practical trunk was 4th on my list. I've had the trunk filled up a couple of times, so for me I'm glad I went XC40 instead of C... But regarding exterior design yours definitely looks better than mine 🤣 Yes. XC40 are the ugly duckling🐥 but XC should win, so need to include two more items 🤣 5th on my list would be a open panoramic roof, or maybe my rear window wiper, or maybe view out of the inner mirror.. Just kidding.. I really miss my S90 these days.

    I just ordered one of these, XC40 recharge twin ultimate in white. Currently driving a cupra born. I see loads of comments calling the xc40 a brick, and yes I agree but thats also why I ordered it. The higher ride height yet small wheel base, all wheel drive and comfort. Much better quality than my cupra too. I nearly ordered the wool interior, but as its a lease car (company scheme) I thought better not 🙂 But I can't wait for it to arrive. ETA is February.

      Nice 😎 Looks great in White. It delivers a appealing package, and I also like the brick shape. Very usable luggage room as a benefit 👍

      @@volvo_kristian Haha, the brick shape is one of the reasons I went for a XC40. It is one of the coolest SUVs in this class. And the fact that I have a bad back also plays a role in choosing a high model. I don't like low cars. Low entry and poor overview. I'll go to the go-kart track if I want to sit low. ;)

    • @TrevorHa
      @TrevorHa 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @volvo_kristian yeah I think the brick looks are a feature not a fault. Yeah I know aerodynamics are bad and range is affected in high winds. But if I was after maximum range it get a polestar and tesla. I want the higher ride and tiny 4x4 feel

    Hi Kristian, thanks for the nice video in the characteristic winter environment!
    I agree with you on the points you made.
    I recently managed to get my hands on a young demo XC40 Recharge Single Motor Extended Range Plus MY24 from October 2023 with less than 4000 kilometers on the odometer. I'm planning to pick it up in about two weeks. I like the color Fjord Blue (if I'm not mistaken) and it is very beautiful. Mine is Vapor Gray which I also think is a very nice color. I have the same 19" wheels that I find perfect for this car. I think the 20" are just too big and are also less efficient.
    Keep the videos coming and have fun with the Twin. :)

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your feedback 👍 And congrats on your XC40.. Yeah 19" are definitely more efficient in terms of consumption 👍

    Thanks for doing these videos and keep them coming! Let's remember, its a 40 series class of vehicle (Volvo, please get a move on getting quite a few more BEVs to market please...) Following our yet again rental of a XC40 BEV a few weeks ago: my wife "I always forget how noisy the XC40 is on the highway and these seats are soo not comfortably compared to our XC60 at home". My 3 year old son in the rearwards facing seat in the back: "I can't see out of the window what you are talking about dad". Me thinking "this is a cheap, nasty interior" but for a BEV the thermal management of the battery is quite ok. My wife: Next time, remind me I much prefer the Mach-e. It was quieter, and our son could actually see out of the window in the back and materials were actually ok. I'm thinking, you actually have a good point and driving with VAT on the Swedish motorway the consumption of the Volvo is ... ... ... NOT GREAT! But over all it sill charges better than the Mach-e. But yes wife, you are right, the only reason we have a Volvo XC60 PHEV in our drive is because YOU wanted one, I am a SAAB guy. (please start selling a lot more premium BEVs Volvo. Like NOW! I feel like "mycke snack och lite verkstad" när det kommer till Volvo BEV. Looking forward to your next video and I have a feeling I will agree with all of them. (Sensus FTW...)

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hehe 😂 Awesome comment. I'm a huge fan of the XC60. Much better seats, and also stereo system. And yes. Volvo's rollout of electric cars takes time.. (EX90 😂). I was quite hyped for the Mustang Mach-E, despite that I hate the name. However I couldn't find a comfortable position in the driver seat. And then the oversized centre screen wasn't my cup of tea. But I totally agree on your XC40 points. Noisy are definitely one thing I put on my bad list, but not the top three bad things 😂 Hope you will enjoy the other rant.

    One another very positive point : one pedal. Very useful, sensitive. You switch between drive and reverse in one click. One pedal in booth way. Wonderful.
    Another one : unlock the door, seat, foot on the break pedal, drive mode and go. The same when you leave the car : no need to press the parking buton, the car does it automaticly, you go out, close the door with a litle pressure. And that's it.

    I agree with all your likes and will add my own - 1) Flat loading in the back .. I measure a car's usefulness by "can I easily put a fridge/freezer in the back?" .. recently I got 2 wood book cases in mine (just). 2) Android Automotive - particularly built in Google Maps with EV charger overlay .. I reckon this is almost as good as Tesla. 3) Scandinavian simplicity ... just the right amount of choices without heaps of menus and adjustments ... the wife can drive it and enjoy it without multiple regen or "driving mode" options via paddles and deep menus - just get in and drive it. We are older and like the ease of getting in/out combined with the higher and good all round view ... plus comfort .. still good after 25,000 miles in our 2021 First Generation.

      Yeah I had the luggage room and it's capability on my 4th place. So usable and easy to load. Very practical and also one of the deciding factors to go for the XC40 instead of C40 and Polestar 2👍 Great to hear your pleased with yours

    Hi! I can already help you about the drawbacks of the XC 40 recharge... I had to wait for this car for 11 months before driving it... I've been driving it for 4 months and I am very disaapointed with the overall quality: lots of hard plastics in the interior, very hard suspensions, aerodynamic noises when driving at 130 km/h... And above all software bugs causing various disagreements and even security problems. This XC 40 is my fifth Volvo car in 17 years and I had never experienced such a disappointment before.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah see your concern there. In terms of visual experience I love this Tailored Wool, but I'm also worried about how it can stand the test of time. With wear and tear. I think it's going to work out fine as long as you maintain it as time goes by.

  • @marting1146
    @marting1146 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I have the single motor FWD version but it looks the same as yours (except maybe the wheels}. We have 16000km on our XC40 now and apart from its range (and the front end rattle over bumpy roads) we love the car. As for things I particularly love, besides those you pointed out, is that the range estimate in the Google navigation can be relied on. If it says it will get you to your destination with x % battery left then it will do that or better unless conditions change drastically on the way. Very important when you live out in the countryside. Greetings from Australia.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great to hear 👍 My range estimation was pretty accurate in the beginning, late summer time. But now on cold and harsh winter days it's completely useless.. Doesn't factor in temperature, high climate use and generally higher consumption on previous trips.

    • @marting1146
      @marting1146 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@volvo_kristian Thankfully we don't get the harsh winter conditions that you do. Our summer conditions, on the other hand, are much hotter. The range prediction seems to work well even when temperatures exceed 40 degrees C. We leave the aircon on 23 all the time and make use of the range extender setting. Strong headwinds will catch it out, of course.

    Thx for video Kristian. So, nothing good about ride comfort, sound proofing and performance?

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Surprisingly not. The ride comfort are decent, but nothing to write home about. For me. Sound proofing should be on tomorrow's video if I should mention it.. Not good enough. The performance are OK. Takes off pretty rapidly in a straight line, but it hates corners and when exceeding triple digitis and pushing on it's not so enjoyable.. The 0-100 are fun, and overtaking are done without pulling a muscle, but that's similar in a bunch of other EV's as well.

    • @marekkowalowski2442
      @marekkowalowski2442 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@volvo_kristian ok. We test drove it with my wife 3 months ago and my first impression of this car was really good. But obviously 1hr test driving does not tell a lot😀

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@marekkowalowski2442It also depends what you're comparing it to. The XC40 delivers much better riding comfort than some of it's competitors. Such as the Polestar 2 that's more tweaked towards performance than comfort. XC40 are pleasant, but for me riding comfort are the highlight with this car. At least not top three. Would include it as number 4 or 5.. Depending on where I should put luggage room capability.

    Merci Kristan et bravo pour votre objectivité ! J’ai le même véhicule que vous au niveau de la couleur et des sièges et je suis entièrement d’accord avec votre analyse après 14.000 km parcourus. J’ai le modèle 2024 Extended Range… Je l’aime beaucoup même si je ne peux compter en hiver que sur 420 km d’autonomie. Je pense que ça va s’améliorer cet été. J’ai des amis en Australie qui me disent qu’ils obtiennent environ 500 à 520 km d’autonomie avec des températures comprises entre 20 et 30 degrés Celsius… j’attends donc l’été en France avec patience pour pouvoir le vérifier…

      @volvo_kristian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, definitely better in warmer temperatures. My record are 480 km in August. Now I'm between 150km and 220km on range. But it's cold as heck nowadays. Like negative 20 degrees Celsius 🥶

    I drive a c40 and I like the car very much. What I don’t like at the car is the poor and faulty traffic sign recognition. In the result of this this is the only car which I know at least at this price class which offers no PREDICTIVE cruise control, you have to set up the high speed manually. Even a cupra born can do this better. And an ID 7, A Mustang Mach E and BmW I Serias offers now full automatic lane change and overtaking and full automatic drive with no time limit for touching the steering wheel on 95% on German Autobahn… And the poor pilot assist from Volvo stops working after 135 km/ h 😢

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Personally I'm not a fan of those systems, as they can/will read wrong signs from time to time. Happens a lot here. Both up and down. So I don't think the systems are good enough. And personally I wouldn't drive with ACC and Pilot Assist over that speed. Don't trust the cars that much. But then again, it's a different highway layout in Germany.

    • @volvo_kristian
      @volvo_kristian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The driving experience didn't reach top three. It's either 4th or 5th on my list. Yes it's quick in a straight line, but it doesn't enjoy corners. And also not so enjoyable when the speed gets high.. Triple digits and then some.. That's why I didn't mention it. For me driving experience aren't a highlight here. With that said, I enjoy the relaxed and comfortable driving experience on my daily commute.
