Subjectively, these are five fragrances I give a 10/10. However, today I have been humbled. 😭
Today, I had the pleasure of having Sam Macer on the channel, an independent perfumer who has a fantastic channel of his own! Sam's channel is a breath of 'fresh' air (pun intended) that finally reveals to us the secrets of the fragrance industry.
He has concise and well crafted videos that teach you how to make your own fragrances, the technicalities of ingredients found in your favourite perfumes, and how the fragrance industry works in general, with useful reviews of books created by master perfumers!

Thank you for inviting me onto the channel Omar, it was a pleasure! After we recorded the video I started testing some of the perfumes on skin and completely different sides to them came out. After that my favorite was bleu électrique, I’ll have to upgrade it to a 9, the base note was beautiful. I didn’t quite like the Fahrenheit so much anymore since the animalic notes came out. A quick sniff on the scent strip is never enough…

I learned all of my perfumery from Sam Macer’s videos. I appreciate him so much!
I personally think, that ambettolide is very prominent clean musk used in Moschino Toy Boy. This is clean, slightly sweet "berry-pear" like. It owns this sort of quality inside. I don't like the perfume, however, I love rose in perfumery, just different interpretations.
Sam's opinion about ethyl maltol has a lot of sense actually, it is definitely used in JPG Le Male Parfum and Bleu Electrique, strange that he did not noticed it there as well. Damn, Sam's chanel could also be one of the best, including Yours and ATH chanel as well. As a perfumery passionate, I give you big big love.

Sam's great. His channel is a wonderful learning tool too. 😊 Definitely wouldn't give the modern Fahrenheit a 10 myself, but the vintage stuff is probably worthy. Nuances for the connoisseur.
Have you smelt it in the past ~18months-2yrs? There has been a definite return to its former glory, the community just doesn't like highlighting when reformulations improve fragrances for the better.

Who cares what that guy says? Honestly, I want to smell his perfumes. If he’s that good he can create something so much better than Le Parfum why aren’t we loving his perfumes by now. Truth be told, those who can do, those who can’t teach. This man seems like he knows a lot but he doesn’t create anything.

I definitely am, at least. I'm not that diehard perfume guy, but I strive to learn any technicality of everything that I enjoy (eg. what makes a fragrance feel natural? what makes a bread dough rise? how does a CPU feed data as current to transistors? etc.)
If you're like me, you'll probably enjoy his content.
I particularly loved his ambroxan/ambergris video (just because I either love that note-creeds; or literally get nausea and almost puke-sauvage).
He needs to do the dry downs

Have you watched The Perfume the movie ? It shows that perfumers are, like many other artists, egotistical creatures that will not give enough credit publicly to others perfumers accomplishments.

Great video! Sam should really think about investing some time into reviewing fragrances, I'm sure it would really help his channel and his own fragrance brand grow, the community loves hearing genuine opinions from perfumers, worked wonders for Aaron Terence Hughes.
But then he’d just be another ATH-esque channel, I think it’s cool he does his own thing 😉

What is the US equivalent to "violet flavored" candy or food. I've never even heard of Parma Violets or anything "violet flavored". Could it be kind of like what we call "grape flavored" in the States? (Grape flavored candy, soda, etc doesn't smell or taste anything like actual grapes, it's kind of its own thing)

It literally tastes how violet flowers smell.

Is it worth picking up prada l’homme intense these days? I heard alot of stuff about that it’s reformulated a couple months ago and now discontinued. I can get it for 65 euro’s from a guy that purchased it last month. What should i do?
It is likely to have been beast mode in its last formulation, I would purchase it if I was in your position (if you like Dark Iris scents)
@@SchoolOfScent I definitely like iris fragrances. Dior homme intense and le male le parfum are one of my favorites of all time. But do you think this prada l’homme intense is usual for the spring? I live in Holland so it’s not that hot in the spring tbh. But the scent is pretty strong from the intense version. I can get the intense cheapier than the OG. Should i pay 25 euro’s more and get the OG, or should I purchase the intense and use it for spring and summer nights?

I don’t agree with his opinion on Le Male Le Parfum. While it may just take a few things to be made and it may belong to a genre, of its so easy to make why didn’t anybody created the exact smell of Le Parfum before? And who really cares if it’s done easily or not, the import thing is how it smells period. Is like saying a Picasso painting is not worth it because it’s done with a simple technique.

Omar, like you I really love YSL Blue Electrique. I once owned a bottle which was stolen by a girl I once knew. Have never got it back. Your guest did mark it a 7, so should be upgraded to an 8. He is really good and hope to see more of him on your channel.

Le Male Le Parfum is not a 10 by any means. It's a weird reinterpretation of the classic bashed together randomly with modern features. It is (Being objective) a poor creation.
