Solar notes sounds crazy but things do smell a particular way on a hot sunny day. I feel like Chanel 1957 captures that scent along with florals
@@sebastienc.2257 I absolutely love One Million. I can't explain why, but I love the scent! It says on Fragrantica it has solar notes and I thought that was just a fancy way of saying "it smells like the beach" because I believe the perfumer who made it was inspired by a leather bag and spiller suntan lotion? But now that I know the chemical name, I am going to order it and try to pick it out from what you mentioned, as well as One Million. Thanks!

I have been obsessively watching fragrance videos for the past three months. (I had no idea fragrance channels were a thing.). This video is awesome. The nerd in me loves to learn about the different fragrance notes, as well as the history of fragrance.
So, I guess I have some shopping to do to discover what the original notes are. I don’t know why I didn’t think about that before.🤦🏾♀️

I’ve always wondered how fragrance enthusiasts become proficient in picking out individual notes from full fragrances. I would like to smell single note ingredients at some point so I can be better at identifying notes.
ive noticed that it also depends on the fragrance and how its blended. for some i can distinguish pretty much every note or accord individually, while on others i can only describe its profile, for example sweet, fresh, dark etc. I looked up some fragrances that are particularly strong on a certain note and thats how im familiarizing myself with them.
I'm not an expert on fragrance, but I took culinary classes were we had to identify finely chopped or grounded herbs and spices.
And then, I started watching Aaron Terrence Hughes.
So my mind went, "I got it, so now I'm able to identify notes in perfumery".
Smelling a variety of fragrances that share a note in common helps me understand what that note smells like individually

I'm late to this video, but would really like to know what note may be pulling celery on my skin? There's a couple fragrances I'm struggling with - LeLabo Another 13 is perfect example of celery on me. Just would like to identify what notes to possibly avoid. Really love your content- looking forward to trying your fragrance line!!

i subscribed last year in '22 - but i thought this type of video - a teacher with experience and knowledge - explaining notes - inside the school of scent - would have been a solid subset series - inside your own channel - you have a calm voice that is good for breakdowns , it's not ego driven like you know who LOL - and i really think this is a good video for old and new fragrance heads alike. i think you should expand your thought process on this one - because its not what anyone else is doing. class is in session !

Kouros is my life must-have.. Regarding Aventus, which I was never a fan of to be honest, today contains definitely more synthetics and Ambroxan I guess. Regarding notes, I love vetiver very much too. The smell is particularly gorgeous in my opinion, I own a 'vetiver like' compound at home. This is vetiveryl acetate. It is lacking of richness but owns the slightly earthy smokiness of the vetiver. To my nose, it is used in big amounts in Encre Noire line by Lalique.
Very interesting video, i listen everyday talking about notes of the fragances but some of them i just have no idea. I bought a decant of Aventus and for me, it was a little bit of disappointment. I will try other Creed fragances to compare! Thank u for your professional videos!!

Every single fragrance I own I’ve watched several reviews of while wearing the fragrance. The majority of samples I’ve worn I’ve watched reviews while wearing and looked up fragrantica notes in an attempt to know what I was smelling. I’ve been to the craft stores and places that sell essential oils and smelled individual oils to further familiarize myself with notes. Even smelling in the spice isle at the grocery can be beneficial. It took me months to identify cardamom in a fragrance after smelling it every time I went to the grocery store

@@wecanjump7512 You're right. It took me a couple of weeks to appreciate it. I prefer essential oils or attars though. The one i bought was pure vetiver extract. And it smells like wilderness.

There's this really inexpensive scent known as Bogart Pour Homme. It's a lavender based perfume and is so underrated. I think you should review it as well!!
Hey Omar, great video. I'd like to watch a note breakdown of violet leaves, and their supposedly "gasoline-y" smell. I have Fahrenheit Parfum and EDT, and I don't necessarily find it in there, but I'd be interested in more information.

I used to use patchouli oil all of the time. It smells amazing. I recommend smelling pure patchouli oil, and other fragrance oils to get a better idea of what each scent adds to the parfum.
Yesterday you answered me that civet can smell fecal and sweet and I think you’re utterly right. Civet is not listed as note in my perfume but as you said today, it’s used to ample or to give radiance to the flowers notes and that it’s how I exactly experienced that perfume. But to be honest, the animalic touch is not well balanced. I can’t deal with the fecal scent ☹️
I do like your current style but you have a similar jaw to me and I found that when I shaved facial hair on the side and kept the goatee or facial hair in the middle long it elongated my face a bit and made me appear a lot better. Love your channel man just thought I’d give you the idea. 🤝

I was worried ATH’s Tobacco Oud & Vanilla got discontinued. It was until recently I found it only had a name change. I still have my 10 ml I bought when it was first released, it’s definitely my favorite from his brand.

My last post. I personally don't typically like animalic smells. Ambergris is whale poop and that is typically not my thing. It's why, when it dries down, I don't like Cool Water or it's cousin Green Irish Tweed. Ceivit is even worse. However like with everything in perfumery it depends there are different kinds of every scent. Some can be sweeter, more or less animalic, clean or dirty, and so on. Oud is.a great example of this. Also the combination of notes and the percentage of any note can make any perfume with the ingredients (I typically don't like) smell wonderful.
Learning what notes works with your body chemistry will save time. I know tobacco, ambergris, tonka beans (which scents varies and tobacco almond is one of them) and tuberose are not for me at all😬

I fell in love with ambergris when I started wearing BR540. It reminds me of crisp clear glass. Slightly anamalic and so unusual.
BR seems more like Ambroxan than Ambergris?
Does anyone know if nikura oils are any good? I've been looking for a nice essential oils kit in the UK and they sell one with 32 oils.
I recommend anyone interested perfume to wear Coromandel at least once, not just test, wear for a full day. One of the more interesting experiences of a slowly evolving scent that is strong and lasts 12+.
