@patrickpet7905 I have heard quite a few "definitions" of niche. It's more the thought that Roja is not a trained perfumer. Yet, he has one of the biggest niche brands out there.

There are very few fragrances I liked on test strips and noir extreme was one of them, but when i sprayed it on my skin i instantly loved it. what is your opinion on the diffrence in smell between test strips and your skin ?
100% it can make a massive difference. I didnt like ombre leather, noir extreme and i hated red tobacco on card! But as soon as i smelt them on skin i was like wow!

Aaron Terrence Hughes is an example of a perfumer that shows how ratings can be given despite personal opinion. He gave TF Noir Extreme a 9.5/10 and was mesmerised by it. In my opinion, I agree. It’s incredible.
I could do, the issue is I'm always trialling new fragrances for future videos or for Atrium! My 'for life' scents generally apply to what I wear most frequently. (although there are more than these 5)

I hope Sam can test Terre d’Hermes on his skin and then revisit his opinion. Mostly because I don’t find the dry-down as bad as he does. I also wonder where he’s smelling strawberry in Noir Extreme, I for some reason can smell a hint of tobacco in the dry down which isn’t a listed note.

Interesting insight into patchouli materials! 12:33 Hear hear. I'm with Sam about the TF, although I do prefer the parfum quite a bit more. Always an element of disillusionment when you can identify the materials being used; and turning reality back into fantasy is more difficult than it sounds! 😵💫 But as Sam mentioned, the craftsmanship certainly deserves accolades. A perfumer spends more time in smelling raw oils and materials and mixing them to build up a perfume. It is very rare for a perfumer to be going constantly around smelling perfumes unless the house hiring him is putting him under a market survey
@@Tal_ru-m it isn't though. People really think that our recall with smell is solid as it is with sight, but it isn't. I can guarantee that a perfumer who's made like 50 perfumes won't recognise several of his/her own creations if asked to smell them blind on a scent strip.
I think that's why I appreciate ATH so much. He I also able to give feedback that's useful to us end users. We do not experience all the raw materials, we only get to experience the end product so critiquing the raw materials only is not useful to us.
While I do not particularly like Omar's taste in "favorite" fragrances, I find it hard to respect the word of a "perfumer" that doesn't even recognize Terre D'hermes. This is the same issue I have with Aaron Terrence Hughes, who has built his whole image around being a perfumer, yet often acknowledges that he hasn't smelt the majority of significant perfumes in history (Fahrenheit by Dior for example.) Obviously, this video is made for the algorithm (you can tell by the title), but it seems like all anyone needs to do in order to identify as a "perfumer" is get an entry-level kit of aromachemicals and mention their names a few times while sniffing a tester strip. It's all smoke and mirrors. Why should we respect his word more than anyone else's? All it looks like to me is a way for him to make a living, as he sells perfume making supplies primarily. Remember, approach all this content with a critical mind and do your own research. Don't buy into hype. Buy decants (2ml is all you need) to determine if a fragrance is right for you. Wear what you love and don't worry about what anyone else has to say.
This applies to many industries. While I have confidence in my ability to identify smells, you are falsely suggesting that Sam, Aaron, and others only got into making perfumes because they bought a kit. This is disrespectful, incorrect, and misleading because you don't know them personally or professionally. They might have degrees in chemistry and are passionate about understanding chemical compounds, fragrances, and blends. They are not just giving their opinions on smells; they also have knowledge of the chemical makeup of the perfumes.
@@richards9750 Thanks for the response. All due respect, I think you've misunderstood my take on this subject. I never said that Sam, Aaron, or anyone else "got into making perfumes because they bought a kit." Rather, I am pointing out that these individuals seem to have a lack of insight into historical perfumery. Perfumery, like literature or fine art, has a long and complex narrative attached to it. If I am looking for criticisms on a given topic, I prefer to get them from individuals with some degree of experience and expertise in the particular subject. Not chemistry. Perfumery. Obviously, TH-camrs create videos with the intention of getting as much exposure as possible. In order to do this, they often create videos like these to bait people into watching because the viewers believe they are privy to the insight of an "expert." I am critical of this (as anyone should be of mass media) and I am simply calling people to think for themselves. I found weird at the beginning that they weren't familiar with popular fragrances as well but Omar made a great analogy about Michelin star chefs and restaurant critics/reviewers. Those high end chefs are not necesarily familiar with the other restaurants but reviewers all they do is try different stuff. Honestly I don't think someone like Alberto Morillas who has been in the industry longer than I've been alive has tried anything on the market for the past 20 years. I think ATH said that he is working on his fragrances 7 days a week so I don't think he will be at the local store smelling anything after work.
Sam bashing some of the greatest perfumers work lol. Jean-Claude Ellena, Roja dove and Alberto Morillas. All of these are top tier very experienced perfumers. Majority of these fragrances are very structured well for their price range. As a beginner perfumer myself that's undeniable and that should go into a perfumers rating. Hi Omar, apakah anda tidak tertarik untuk mengikuti apa yang telah Sam lakukan? Mengelilingi beberapa negara penghasil parfum atau memburu raw materialnya. Seperti Dubai, Taif, Cambodia, Aceh, etc
Not just a full wearing, but a full wearing of a bottle that's been opened for at least a month. It doesn't matter for some but is transformational for others. Best too, if the full wearing was on someone else and you would have exposure to them at opening, drydown, and six, eight, ten hours in. Some fragrances never allow you to completely understand them on your self. Others, of course, are easier to quantify. And, for each person, those frangrances can be different. The reason this is a popular hobby is that it is complex. Personal. The biggest problem is that, as people get deeper into it, they tend to stray from the stalwart feature of perfume. How does it smell?

How much time between spraying it on a strip and handing it out to the guy? IMO you should have a big enough of a gap in between as on a tester strip the scent develops slowly. Even then there would still be a huge difference between strip and skin, but at least it would be a bit closer.

Love the fact that the perfumer told the truth and made perfect sense that big companies can afford to invest in the best talent thus produce products superior to these so called niche brands.
Love the channel and love the duo! I have to say that Tom Ford fragrances are mostly so overrated that I also find them smelling like cologne from Aldi
I see nothing wrong in Sam honestly. He reminds me of Aaron when he was first featured in Chris (fragmental) videos a couple years ago. An idealist perfumer in his most indie phase. By the time he's exposed to wider audience, he would get into an objectively more acquired taste.
Awesome video. I really respect Omar for taking one in the chin like a man. Perfumes like art are personal. What one likes the other may not.. and cost does not reflect quality.
Great vid, not sure about the opinion on these fragrances tho... Also i tried to use the code for the free sample, however it says it could not be proccesed, as the order total had changed?

Everytime I want to buy a certain fragrance there is either a certain negative review or a bad comment about it and that keeps me from buying it. I was planning on buying TF noir extreme but now I am doubting that decision. It's gotta hurt if someone thinks your fragrance smells like a cheap ALDI fragrance.
Never blindly buy perfume. Everybody has a different taste... Go to a store, smell it, spray it on your body, and see how it performs, especially with pricey perfumes.
I personally think it smells wonderful… it’s in the niche realm, but probably one of the easiest to like perfumes. If I had gotten noir extreme as a blind buy, I would’ve been quite happy.
I really respect his opinions. I don't value fragrance snobs opinions. Snobs think if it's an affordable or simple fragrance its garbage. They ALWAYS associate quality with price. Sorry Omar....
pdm layton or naxos don't know which one I have to buy?? one fragrance for everything. what fragrances are in this price and also for everything any recommendation??
Niche is overrated to me always has and no I would never pay that kind of $ for scented water but humans are humans and you’re free to pay what you want ❤️
I do agree with the perfumer about TF Noir Extreme EDP. Honestly, the Parfum is a vast improvement! The EDP smells cheap, less masculine and simple. The Parfum is complex, rich, masculine and is worth the money! I’m not even super into fragrances and I can really tell the difference. I’m shocked when reviewers say they smell close to each other. The EDP smells like a cheap, low-quality dupe of the Parfum with only a 65% similarity.
That’s the beauty of fragrances! Everyone has their own opinion. I own both and do prefer the parfum but am not as critical of the edp as you are. I enjoy both and use each for different occasions. I have no idea where he is getting strawberry from.
Bro I love ur fragrance. But can you make the bottle look like an open book??? And it has like the note breakdown written IN the book. That's some big brain stuff right there. Super unique. It'd make u stand out

Great video. I really enjoyed watching! Hermes and Tom Ford are overrated. In fact, Tom Ford is beyond overrated. Xerjoff fragrances are masterpieces. Roja is just a waste of money.
I blind bought Light Blue Intense based on all the online hype and I straight up hate it 😂. Weird sweet bubblegumy scent. Smells like something a middle schooler would like. Ah well, to each their own
Paper strips are not flattering I'll tell you that much also smelling stuff back to back is also not a grat idea ...PS the Burlington is a very lovely fragrance... I was super skeptical when i first tried ot but it is very lovely.. could i personally justify 300ish for a freshie...uff not really..now if i could scoop one at heavy discount or a high partial for something like 200 i can see myself forking that..
I appreciate him giving his honest opinion, but this is complete anti-marketing for me. I would never buy a fragrance this man creates. I compared his review of Noir Extreme to Aaron Terrence Hughes’ (whose opinion I trust and work I love) and it is hilariously different
😂😂😂 can see the pain on your face, he's right about the TF noir extreme, notwell blended....idk about the roja, won't pay that much for a frag, d&g lbi is a summer staple
Here we have a “perfumer” that cannot recognise most popular perfumes by Tom Ford and Hermes??? What a joke! After saying: “is this a list of the worst?” he tried to redeem himself saying nice words… hahaha… at the end he was so embarrassed that named some perfumes to show he is a “perfumer”. Soo embarrassing…
Bro smells DG light blue intense and says "this is fresh, I think." Yeah, you think so lmao? And then says Noir Extreme is a strawberry scent. Yeah, cool. Man has no idea. Said Roja smells cheap and can be easily replicated. He only works with aromic chemicals. The difference between him and Aaron Terence Hughes is that Aaron can distinguish what smells cheap, what smells expensive and what the actual notes and ingredients are.

How much time between spraying it on a strip and handing it out to the guy? IMO you should have a big enough of a gap in between as on a tester strip the scent develops slowly. Even then there would still be a huge difference between strip and skin, but at least it would be a bit closer.
Omar plz plz tell me why is 40knots smell like baby powder mixed with sunscreen plz give us a review on all the fragrances from Oman luxury specially royal incense for fall
Love the fact that the perfumer told the truth and made perfect sense that big companies can afford to invest in the best talent thus produce products superior to these so called niche brands.
I dunno Byredo, Parfums de Marly, MFK all pretty dang good
And don't forget Ormande Jayne fragrances
@@studiodsr xerjoff amouage nishane all that
The opinions with the facial expressions killed me 😂. Like this take on perfumes, it’s interesting 👍🏼
Happy to see you turned on the heat for him
Love the channel and love the duo!
I want to hear this guy's opinion on Moschino Toyboy. Will be quite interesting
it was in the first video we did I believe! where he tries fragrances I insist are a 10/10
@@SchoolOfScent Ohh. Will watch that video then. Thanks
Great stuff, great to see someone not kiss ass on everything, more of sam
Awesome video. I really respect Omar for taking one in the chin like a man. Perfumes like art are personal. What one likes the other may not.. and cost does not reflect quality.
Great vid, not sure about the opinion on these fragrances tho...
Also i tried to use the code for the free sample, however it says it could not be proccesed, as the order total had changed?
If you can get your hands on the Spanish KFC release of Eau'Duardo, we would love to see a review!
hey Omar
i really enjoyed this video about fragrances the you actually wear.
my request is still there, please do a fragrance collection tour and at the show us your top 5-10 fragrances for season/ocation or just your top fragrances overall.
I’ve seen people shred Roja, but that might have been the most savage one I’ve seen yet lol
Just get samples. 2ml samples aren't that expensive. a 2ml of that Noir Extreme is like 7 bucks at Scent Split. a 5ml is 17.
Layton is more versatile....i recommend Percival from PDM...naxos is good but the other 2 more versatile
hello sir, I am a smoker, what perfume suits me, can you give me a good answer?
Interesting point of view from Sam
Niche is overrated to me always has and no I would never pay that kind of $ for scented water but humans are humans and you’re free to pay what you want ❤️
Thats way too broad of a statement. You find so different things over different price points its all about finding what you like.
When I first smelt it I was like this just smells like an air freshener I smell in some houses
That’s the beauty of fragrances! Everyone has their own opinion. I own both and do prefer the parfum but am not as critical of the edp as you are. I enjoy both and use each for different occasions. I have no idea where he is getting strawberry from.
@@corey513 for sure!
No way, the leather stink ruined it. The EDP destroys it easily.
@@keenan13jpn interesting take!
Do you have any discovery set recommendation
Stay honest. Great vid.
Does Sam wears perfume? If Yes,which one's?
Omar's face seeing Sam roasting Roja Burlington is like a void
Bro I love ur fragrance. But can you make the bottle look like an open book??? And it has like the note breakdown written IN the book. That's some big brain stuff right there. Super unique. It'd make u stand out
Very educational.Thanks
Could you review this fragrance I just got? It is called vince camuto terra.
What are his favourite fragrances than
I want to see what his 5 frags for life are if Noir Extreme is a 3/10 🤣🤣🤣☠ Everyone has their opinion but he's wrong. Noir Extreme is a gorgeous fragrance.
imagine buy that frag with his own money, he literally have the freedom to roast the fragrance lol, he literally 100% honest and god tastes. other youtuber just get free bottle from the brand and just live up the hype. or get basic taste
I agree with Sam. I think Tom Ford is ridiculously overpriced.
Great video. I really enjoyed watching! Hermes and Tom Ford are overrated. In fact, Tom Ford is beyond overrated. Xerjoff fragrances are masterpieces. Roja is just a waste of money.
Once again, come on. As with Aaron Terence Hughes, you want us to believes perfumer doesn’t know terre dhermes
or tf noir extreme?
What's the name of the perfumer? Would like to check out the perfums he has done
Sam Macer, channel linked in description 😊
@@SchoolOfScent thank you! I only find 3 scents on fragrantica for lux e+ terra. Is that his own brand or is the site just outdated probably?
@@petergriffin5256he has rebranded apparently
I have tried all three of his Lux e Terra. They are quite nice in their own way considering he is a relative beginner.
@@petergriffin5256 yes that is the old name of the brand, now it is known as Zurai
The GTA wasted captures this video perfectly! OUCH! 😅
I still have issue with this guy being unaware of basic fragrances references
I blind bought Light Blue Intense based on all the online hype and I straight up hate it 😂. Weird sweet bubblegumy scent. Smells like something a middle schooler would like. Ah well, to each their own
Sweet bubblegummy? Interesting
It’s very aquatic to me, fresh and salty
Where did you find this guy from Dude 🤷♂️??
Paper strips are not flattering I'll tell you that much also smelling stuff back to back is also not a grat idea
...PS the Burlington is a very lovely fragrance...
I compared his review of Noir Extreme to Aaron Terrence Hughes’ (whose opinion I trust and work I love) and it is hilariously different
tom ford noir extreme is good what you on about lol.
Basically nishe brands charging way to much .. TF smells good just doesnt last
Andrew ❤
😂😂😂 can see the pain on your face, he's right about the TF noir extreme, notwell blended....idk about the roja, won't pay that much for a frag, d&g lbi is a summer staple
Dude said Roja Dove is a beginning perfumer. 😂
Oh you must have misheard! He said that specific perfume is something a beginner could make
Sam Macer kind of reminds me of Grant Gustin when he was in the flash series 😂
Strip never justify a fragrance skin skin skin op
These videos are the best seeing an enthusiast / perfumerand a perfumer/ creator, butt heads.
Day 1 of asking for a Penhaligons review
Here we have a “perfumer” that cannot recognise most popular perfumes by Tom Ford and Hermes??? What a joke!
After saying: “is this a list of the worst?” he tried to redeem himself saying nice words… hahaha… at the end he was so embarrassed that named some perfumes to show he is a “perfumer”. Soo embarrassing…
Hermes smells better on the skin. Its different
Good looking guys , yum
I like this guy
This guy never fails to surprise me about the depth of the rock that he's been hiding under.
Can You make the same video with the same Guest but with more affordable fragrances? And please do not include arabian clones.
15:41 Wow, that was brutal 🤣
This video really kills peoples trust in your suggestions. But, its about what smells good to That individual.
Thats why I love blind tests
Bro smells DG light blue intense and says "this is fresh, I think." Yeah, you think so lmao? And then says Noir Extreme is a strawberry scent. Yeah, cool. Man has no idea. Said Roja smells cheap and can be easily replicated. He only works with aromic chemicals. The difference between him and Aaron Terence Hughes is that Aaron can distinguish what smells cheap, what smells expensive and what the actual notes and ingredients are.
Perfect example of how everyone smells something different. Noir extreme smells like strawberries?
whats hes favorit fragrances can u tell us? 😂
Bro was trying so hard to not laugh at this guy, i laughed for you bro dont worry 😅
what the fuck kind of perfumes does this dude like then?
