Thrift Store Makeover - Baba Yaga Edition

- I attempted another Thrift Store Makeover -this time with a birdhouse (which I actually thought was a dollhouse at first, kinda embarrassing). This is a fun thrift store diy - sort of a furniture makeover, if you count birdhouses as furniture I guess lol. For this diy thrift flip I tried a repurposing thrift and painted a diy birdhouse into a witches house standing on chicken legs. There’s not many good options for thrift store finds in my area but this one caught my eye. In the future I’d like to do an actual dream dollhouse makeover and turn it into a haunted house or castle, I think that would look really cool. This video did give me some experience on how to paint a dollhouse and how to makeover a dollhouse so we’ll see if I can get my hands on one. I hope you got some birdhouse ideas and second hand furniture flip ideas from this video!

As someone who has Russian parents, I love the usage of Baba Yaga, it's a really unique idea.
I never realized I had so many Russians watching, that's really cool! & yeah, Baba Yaga is highly underrated.

Hi, I am a philologist from Russia, additionally studied legends and fairy tales)
Initially, the name sounds not just like Baba Yaga, its Baba Yaga Bone Leg, which means that the witch is stuck between the world of the dead and the world of the living, and her hut symbolizes something like a moving coffin.
So it worked quite like a coffin because of the shape of the house, it seems to me, 10 out of 10, my russian soul is happy abouut that)
I'm hugely into mythology, and I never knew this! This is fascinating! Thanks for sharing this.

I've always loved mythology too. I plan on making a bunch more stuff inspired by all those cool stories, I find them so fascinating. & I didn't know that about Baba Yaga at all either, that's pretty cool!

Edit: That's probably a decorative birdhouse. My mom used to buy blanks at Michael's and decorate them. I'm guessing it's a thing and they probably make pre-painted decorations, too. Meh, I'd put yours on display rather than the original. Purple chicken pantaloons make everything 100% better (more evil.)

Baba Yaga is a not evil nor good. In slavic culture she's between the world of the living and dead. She usually helps heroes with advice and healing, but can trick them as well if she's feeling like it.
And it's pronounced YagA with the emphasis on the last syllable.

Just so you're aware. You can buy little lanterns like you wanted at hobby lobby in the miniatures section. They're pretty cheap too! I had to buy one for a Santa decoration I have.
Very cool, being a sea witch myself I appreciated this creation...
If you wanted to have a glass effect lantern a cheap alternative is to melt boiled sweets in the oven, and you also have the option of different colours too...
Also crushing boiled sweets and sprinkling it into certain areas gives you a different type of texture depending on what your looking for, it would definitely have worked for a mossy roof...

I think it's so cool how many Russians have stumbled upon my channel. I love Baba YagA (sorry about the mispronunciation, I'm uncultured lol) & I think she's very underrated! Definitely one of the coolest witches.
If you use a blow dryer on wood pieces like this it softens the glue and you can very easily separate the pieces with a putty knife
