As a native of Rio, I have to say that this is the most spectacular video I've seen to date showing an approach to GIG (if you have the chance, please also capture an approach to SDU (Santos Dumont airport)
At 02:23 we see the Marambaia sandbank, which effectively creates a huge (some 450 sq km or about 170 sq mi) enclosed bay, protected from open sea waves. It was created over geological times by wind and currents isolating what was formerly the coastal line (to the left on the image) from the ocean. There are many such sand formations in Rio's shore, creating a large number of bays, lakes and lagoons.
And at 06:30 there is the Santa Cruz Air Force Base, with is large hangar purpose-bult for sheltering the Graf Zeppelin airship in the 30s.
