    I had no idea you could cook eggs in an air fryer. I'm gonna try that, and I also have a tip for you that you can show people in your next egg video. To easily peel a hard boiled egg, put it in a jar of water and close the lid, then shake it around. The shell will crack and come off the egg without the egg getting a scratch, then you can just rinse the egg off.

      @@inthekitchenwithmatt Hey you actually really helped me, my house is being remodeled and I've got a little check and dinky two burner electric stove I use to make cooking videos, a brand new oven with 4 burners that's not hooked up to gas, and 3 burners, a griddle, and a grill outside, but recently when I was filming a video inside while it was pouring rain on the little dinky electric stove one burner stopped working. The heat light was on and I went to stir. Like, why is my rice not cooking? Oh I guess the power to the burner died but not the light that comes on when you turn the knob. Shall we eat plain steak with ketchup or shall I go outside in the rain to cook rice?I then didn't get my replacement because the cheap dinky stove actually had a warranty and they said they mailed me one, and didn't get a new one I ordered online, so I am still using the one working burner to cook to this day, sometimes in my TH-cam videos, when there's bad weather outside. I've used the air fryer to cook lots of stuff you thought couldn't be cooked in an air fryer but I never would have even considered eggs, I'd imagine they would explode or something. So your egg air fryer hack actually really helped me because of my bizarre situation caused by our remodel being messed up by contractors then delayed by Covid causing me to have a brand new oven I haven't been able to use in years, when I used to make cooking videos. Try the egg trick, and keep making your videos in your nice kitchen, one day my kitchen will be that nice too.

    Okaaaay, I was super excited to see this notification pop up, Matt; a couple of questions tho... I am, as I've said before, highly intolerant of eggs cooked on the hob, in any recipe. However, if they are in a recipe and baked in the oven, I'm fine with eggs. My consultant told me several years ago that it's because the heat of the oven is greater, and the proteins and enzymes in the eggs react differently to those of eggs cooked on the hob. Now; I'm useless at math, truly, and so I'd like to know how does the temperature of an air fryer compare with hobs and ovens? I haven't been able to eat eggs in years, and I so crave them sometimes. Is 270 (I think that's what you said) the same as cooking them on a higher heat, such as in an oven?
    I recently discovered that eggs can be baked in an oven (they're kinda like fried eggs), and I was elated, but I've yet t try them; basically because I'm scared to eat them. lol. However, I'd walk across hot coals in bare feet if I could only enjoy an egg again.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Lauren! The temp in the air fryer is the same as in an oven. They air fryer is just a mini convection oven. Whether you would have the same reaction to air fryer hard-boiled eggs or not, I couldn't say. Although boiling water is only at 212 F. So the air fryer set to 270 or 280 F is definitely hotter than boiling water. :) :) Maybe give it a try and only eat like a quarter of the hard-boiled air fryer egg and see if you feel any different. If not, eat a little more. At any rate, I hope you are able to eat them!

Thanks again. :)

      @@inthekitchenwithmatt Thank you. :) I went out to dinner a few years go, at a home where my hosts had several children. Naturally the couple wanted to give their children good wholesome food with plenty of proteins and minerals; it was a meat and potato and veg dinner , and they served a side dish of mashed potato, unfortunately, and unbeknownst to me, mashed up with a raw egg. I carefully vetted the meal in my mind and thought to myself; nothing to harm me here. I spent the next four days, over christmas, in hospital. Regardless, this is a simple video to show how to do it in the air fryer. Have you tried it with farm fresh? With that said the most readily and cheapest available eggs are the store bought ones which most people use. Which is the reason I used them.

  • @charlesspence6779

    Waste of time / waste of eggs. I tried four eggs in my new Pampered Chef...two at 15 minutes, two for the full 15. All four were browned, and all four so hard to peal that I lost so much egg that I ended up with basically one egg. Why would anyone do this? It takes 12 minutes to boil one..... definitely this is NOT a time saver

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Charles! If they were browned you cooked them too long. How large were your eggs? I didn't use some magic in the video. It definitely works, but just like all cooking especially in the air fryer it may take some trial an error. Every air fryer is different especially the Pampered Chef one. Yours may take a few minutes less, even more so with that few of eggs. And yes it IS a time saver. It takes 10 minutes to even get the water to a boil. Then you have to put the eggs in to boil them. Once the water is at a boil it takes at least 6 to 8 minutes to boil the eggs. No, start to finish it doesn't take 12 minutes to boil eggs. Try it again, less time, It is find to remove the basket and check the eggs before the full time, but again in your air fryer it may just take 12 to 13 minutes. Also the length of time will depend on how you like your hard boiled eggs. If you want the egg yolk to be less hard, they are done in as few as 11 minutes.

    • @charlesspence6779
      @charlesspence6779 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@inthekitchenwithmatt Thanks for the tips, I'll try it again, but used my last four eggs for that disaster. I used regular large eggs, and once I discovered how awful the two at 12 minutes were, I pulled the other two out, so they had maybe 13-14. Not only were they brown and hard and rubbery, but the truly disappointing thing was that they wouldn't peel - at all....so I had four golf ball sized very very hard boiled yolks with a slight covering of the white ..really a brownish white. Having made boiled/deviled eggs for 50+ years, I just plop them in a pan, bring it to a boil (maybe 3-4 minutes with my stove), then turn it off and let them sit for 12 minutes...never a peeling issue.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@charlesspence6779 Yeah it sounds like yours runs hotter than mine. And if you have a gas stove it will boil water faster. My electric one takes at least 10 minutes to boil the water. This is my method for using boiled water, sounds similar to how you do it. th-cam.com/video/FJlvye5eohc/w-d-xo.html

    • @charlesspence6779
      @charlesspence6779 ปีที่แล้ว

      So after having wasted roughly 4 dozen (or more) eggs, I give up. The air fryer method is , (as I said before), truly a waste of time and truly aggravating. The ONLY moderately successful time was 19 minutes at 180 degrees. Above that, below that, longer or shorter, all resulted in either dark brown eggs, with brown ones on the inside, or runny, not even soft boiled messes, on the inside. They approached hard boiled, but never easily pealed, the large eggs were maybe the size of quail eggs. after trying to get them to peel. That applies to the burned ones, as well as the barely soft boiled gooey crap. I have gone back to: bring a pot to boil (times at 3 minutes) turn off the heat and let it sit for 12 minutes. 15 in total, perfect eggs. The air fryer method is bogus. The Instapot method is a bit better, but takes a VERY long time.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  ปีที่แล้ว

      Some people have small spaces and don't have a gas/electric cooker. Some people don't want to work with boiled water. I don't know where you got the idea that air fryers are supposed to be quick. I think you are getting those mixed with pressure cookers which are quicker. Air fryers just cook with hot air and kind of imitate "deep fry" cooking. Think of it as a mini-convection oven because that is exactly what they are.
