    Thank you so much! I’m so excited about this. I am traveling full-time in a small motorhome and don’t have very much counter space. I have my microwave and air fryer. I don’t like using the propane on the stove. This is my perfect solution to be able to have fried eggs again.😁

    It's something I've never really thought about, but I now realise I've never personally cooked a fried egg at home. Crazy when I think of my age. I've only got a 2.1litre 1000W air fryer (a new purchase whilst my oven expired) which is ideal for one person - I think I will try your recipe; I'll check if I've got a small enough cake tin. I've got a silicon basket that just fits, or a ceramic ramekin if not. Thanks!

    Hi Matt.
    HELP!
    I just bought my first air fryer (Ninja Double-stack XL).
    I believe I followed your instructions correctly, but at the end of the cook time (I use 3 mins just to start with), the white was still totally clear and the top of the yolk was shrivelled... Your yolk was smooth & shiny, and how I'd expect it to be.
    I added another minute, but the yolk continued to shrivel, and the white was still mostly clear.
    Any idea as to what I'm doing wrong? TIA.

I usually do it halfway somewhere in between when using a pan but is there a difference between a pan vs an airfyer in this instance? Not much difference when you salt and pepper it. Some will say it doesn't matter when, others will say wait until after it is cooked. Honestly the pan fry method is best. I only showed how to do it in the air fryer because some people don't have a stovetop/oven, or it isn't working currently, etc. Never too late to learn though, awesome you are learning!

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Just cook it like I do in the video, you can remove it a little less time. But most of the time that is a result of overcooking. While you can cook a fried egg in the air fryer, like I show, I don't necessarily think it is the best way. Nothing beats the classic skillet way of cooking an egg. You can also lower the heat which will help cook the yolk without overcooking the egg white. Those little lacy bits around the edges are one of my favorite parts haha.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt

      Yes air fryers are literally small convection ovens. BUT NO they aren't exactly like other convection ovens because they are much much smaller and the heating element is much closer, so they do cook a bit differently in such a small confined space which is how it can mimic "frying" without the need for so much oil. Regardless this is how you cook an egg in one.
