This crust is amazing!! I've made three pizzas now in cast iron using this recipe. It's so EASY and tasty. My wife does not normally like pizza or bread, but she gobbles this pizza up. The crust reminds me a lot of pizza hut thick crust bread but not as greasy. This is perfect for those of us who want to make pizza but don't want to mess around with the dough too much.

I watched this a couple times over the last three weeks. I finally got to try it tonight. I made pizza by utilizing leftovers from the last couple days. Bacon and grilled chicken over a basil pesto Alfredo sauce. Turned out phenomenal, although I'd recommend adding the sugar to the flour prior to mixing in the yogurt...as I could tell there was a Greek yogurt component to it. After I ate, I was wondering about the Shotgun Red part. I used to watch The Ralph Emery show TNN(I think) every Saturday night with my grandparents, right before the Statler Brothers came on, I believe. Some of the best memories I've had, Steve is a part of because I loved Shotgun Red! I was young back then, and I definitely miss those days. I was saddened to learn of Steve's passing, but am glad his channel lives on. Thanks, Jared K. Reviea
What a guy. I never met him and i know he was pretty well connected in the country music world but he just seems like a regular guy. These videos taught me a lot of great tips and tricks for cooking great food. thank you sir. RIP sir. i know you are up there hanging out with some good company and having some great meals with the music gang!!
Made this today with my six year old and we loved it. I did change it up a bit and used plain old regular yogurt. It came out great, a thin crust that I can live with. This is going to be my go too from now on. We made one big square pizza and topped it three ways. Cheese and pepperoni, ham and cheese and belle mushrooms, bell pepper. cheese and pepperoni. Even made my own sauce with one can of Italian stewed tomatoes and a little bit of seasoning. Now everyone can have a quick and easy favorite. Thank you for sharing this recipe!
Looks great! I'd sprinkle cornmeal on the pan and prick holes through the crust by bouncing a fork on the spread out crust. Thanks! Edit: Also near the end of cooking, switch from bake to broil, beautiful top 😎
Just tried this tonight for personal pizza night. I have NEVER made a good pizza crust lol. I was so surprised by this recipe. It was delicious! My daughter's had so much fun making it. Big thumbs up for how quick it is to make too. I will be using this recipe everytime we make homemade pizza!
Another option is to mix 1 cup of the plain yogurt and 1 cup of self rising flour in a zip lock bag. Kids love to squish it. Cut the tip off the corner, squeeze out one inch of the dough and clip with scissors into a few inches of preheated oil. Cook for 1-2 minutes until desired golden color is achieved. Sprinkle or toss in powdered sugar, my son loves them in cinnamon sugar! You'll have yourself some yummy little easy homage donuts! They taste delicious, similar to zeppoles.
Just made this today with my 3 year old daughter. Amazing and easy. Baked at 450 for about 12 minutes. Make sure the crust is thin. Miss ya Shotgun Red. Enjoyed your cooking and your humor!!!
You’re so sweet! You’ve got a new sub! I’ve been making two ingredient dough for a while. Makes bread breadsticks as bagels too! If you can’t find self rising flour just add 1.5 tsp baking powder and 1/4tsp salt per cup of AP Flour. Works great!
I always thought the idea of a Hawaiian pizza was mildly gross until I went into a pizza place and the guy offered me one at half price because someone didn't pick up their order. I was hungry so I liked the idea of no wait and I bought it. It is now one of my favorite pizzas.
I Love watching cooking channels but I love this one the best. Not only are the recipe's demonstrated in a very understandable way, but the show is entertaining as well. Never a boring moment and I learned alot. Thank you...
Loved the dough. I usually opt for thin crust when ordering out and avoid bready ones, but this was great. So incredibly soft that you lose track if you’re chewing the dough or melted cheese. Thanks!
This dough also works great for a lot of other things too! Y roll it out thin and cook it on a flat top until it’s browned for a quick flatbread! Also you can do pretzels, bagels, and turnover dough by adding some egg wash! For the pretzels you’ll also need to put sea salt on top and par-boil them in a baking soda solution, and for any of these you can mix in any flavorings you like! I like to put garlic and herbs in if I’m doing flatbreads, and I’ll put everything seasoning on top if I’m doing bagels. This really is a versatile dough!
codylola2010 Self-rising flour doesn’t have yeast in it. Instead, for every cup of plain flour add 1.5 tsp baking powder (not baking soda) and .25 tsp salt (fine salt is preferable).
Thank you so much. Enjoyed your video and your humor, but especially the pizza! My family loved it! Soooooo easy to make! I'd also like to add, Shirley, how very sorry I am for the loss of your husband. I learned of it by reading the comments below. He had such a wonderful personality. He seemed very sweet and gentle.

I make pizza once in awhile and cannot wait to try this!!! I also live in Alaska... born and raised! So glad to see these videos! Thank-you for putting them on here!!!
I just tried this crust recipe this evening. I've tried a lot of pizza crust recipes over the years and this is clearly one of the best - and easiest to make.
Came out pretty good. I used half wheat & half white flour, and converted to self-rising. Crust had a terrific flavor, but was a tad soft at 450 degrees; I’m thinking 500 degrees might crisp it up better for next time, as Tim from Alaska originally called for. Thanks for the recipe!
I had wondered about softness of the crust. I like mine a little crispy, too.... and had thought that is why the temp had to be so high - 500. Do you prebake it as well?
@@denisecarter5244 It might be a little crispier too but depending on the thickness of the crust, it also might prevent overcooking toppings and making sure the crust is cooked through. I put the thinnest of layers of oil on the top to par bake it first. It gives it a nice extra "flavor/browning" :)
So glad I saw your sight on youtube. Thank you for sharing this recipe from one of your viewers, I love homemade ole school simple recipes. My tastes buds went off after you cut that pizza slices. Has anyone tried brushing the surface of the flattened dough with a little olive oil and sprinkling some italian blend spices, a little black pepper and a little minced garlic to the crust before layering on the toppings to get a nice brown flavorful edge to the crust once it's baked?
Derrick Mendonca I tried this yesterday & did the use olive oil but not the spices. Came out awesome. I only had Vanilla Greek yogurt on hand. So it was a little sweet. Used salt to counteract it. But was still one of the best pizzas I’ve made.
@@johntroxell4928 I bet with vanilla greek yogurt, you could make a GREAT dessert pizza with this dough! Put some fruit on top and drizzle on some cinnamon roll icing, chocolate and caramel... I bet that would be amazing.
I made this tonight, it was fantastic, I read the comments first, so I took a few tips...I put a teaspoon of salt, and a tablespoon of sugar in the dough...I mixed it all by hand, was very easy...I greased the pan with melted butter, and olive oil, and a dusting of cornmeal, it made the crust crispy! I baked on 500° for 15 mins...after it came out of the oven, I brushed the crust with melted butter that I had mixed garlic powder, and basil in...came perfect! Was a hit with the family, what a cheap way to have amazing pizza at home! Oh Shotgun Red! The kids and I decided to make this pizza dough tonight. I was making a double batch and found that I only had 1 cup of greek yogurt. I used cottage cheese as the second cup of "yogurt" and it was so good! I figured that it was pretty close: they both have a high protein content. I recommend giving it a try. So extremely yummy. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
I worked in a restaurant in the early 80s that did the Hawaiian pizza with ham. We had a local cop that liked baked beans on his pizza. I've taken sliced turkey and added it to leftover pizza then reheated it in the microwave. Adding any kind of sliced lunch meat to it gives it a unique flavor and gives a better taste to a one topping pizza
@@missgoodnfilthy2243 ...Yes! First I tried it without the mixer, simply placed the self-rising flour in a large glass bowl, then added all the yogurt in at once. Initially I used a spatula to mix the ingredients together, then to finish off I used my hands. (It may be sticky, so have a 1/2 cup of flour nearby and add a little at a time to get a smooth dough ball). Also, you can take the sticky dough ball out if the bowl and finish it on a large wooden cutting board till it's smooth. Then cover it and let it ride for 15 minutes. All the best.
Thank you so much for this recipe! It has become the only pizza dough I use. Also, I've discovered I'm a fan of plain greek yogurt! Thanks, Tim-from-Alaska!
Awesome video mate!! Our little daughter has an egg allergy, so my wife makes home-made pizza bites using this same recipe. Super simple and super tasty!!
No rules allowed when it comes to pizza. But a great pizza requires the godly gift of anchovies. Another popular pizza here in Canada is the dill pickle pizza. Haven't tried the pie dough yet but 2 million people can't all be wrong. Liked...subscribed...and shared! Thank you
I saw a girl making biscuits/scones with this dough mix and they looked great. She just cut the mix into four balls and flattened them out a little and cooked them slowly in an open pan without any oil for about 10 minutes. I want to try both ideas now, but I can't go to the supermarket without queueing for an hour. Maybe after Corona's a goner.
@@ginawiggles918Hi, gina wiggles, self rising flour is different then AP and Bread flour. If you use what you have it will not rise. You must use Self rising flour.
Me and my boys are going to try this today....we don't have plain greek only vanilla but I do have whole plain yogurt (sooo not going to the store for Greek either *CORONA we're staying at home*... so I definitely will let you know how it tastes although I have no comparison but the delight on your face.
I tried it with vanilla yogurt with cinnamon and brown sugar rolled it up cut in rings put a powder sugar glaze. It was great. Tasted like a store bought honey buns. This dough is very versital and really good.
The high temp is a key as far as I am concerned. Raising the temp to 500 was the single best change I made with my pizza making. Cooks the center of rhe crust better.
Tonight was the third time I made this pizza and it came out really good, the first two times were practice, I’m getting the hang of it and my family loves it, thanks! ❤️👍🏼
i have enjoyed making some of His recipe's now I will try this pizza . So sorry He passed he was great to watch and learn from. Prayers sent to Sheila and family.
First time watching a video and it looks amazing! Your honesty is refreshing and your comment about your viewers being so important to you was really nice too.
Question? To mix the yogurt with the self-rising flour...does that require a "dough hook"? I don't have a fancy kitchenAid mixer. Can I just use a plain old mixer or something else? Also, I'm from Minnesota and pineapple and canadian bacon pizza is fairly common, however I also add sauerkraut (which sounds horrible), but everyone I ever convinced to try it, was pleasantly surprised and said they preferred sauerkraut to no sauerkraut.
Mike, I think you can even use your hands to mix. The other thing, here in Puerto Rico we get Hawaiian pizza with ham and pineapple, it tastes great because it's sweet and salty, but if it's sweet and sour and salty, it takes it to a whole other level. It sounds great with the sauerkraut.
If you want a crispier, more golden brown crust, grease the dough ball with a teaspoon or so of olive oil before patting it out. Also, put the oven rack on the lowest level closest to the burners or heating elements.
@@lisakain1517 hi Lisa...what are the Italian seasonings you use. Can I infuse in olive oil? Oh I just want the pepperoni slice.. With Italian seasoning. I always add garlic n small amount of green veg ! I feel I'm not being so naughty then!😂😂😂😂

Bake 15 min 350'. Take it out add sauce and topping put back in for 5 to 10 min. Eat !!! 💜🍕
Love the ham and pineapple half! I live in Houston but my mother was from MN and that was the only pizza she would eat! Especially Canadian Bacon! I'm gonna do this pizza this weekend.
Gave this recipe a try on Friday with my wife for our family of 5. Ended up making 2 pizzas (one round, one square). Overall, the crust was excellent. The round one cut perfectly into normal looking slices. Growing up, my mom made similar rectangle pizzas but it was more biscuit like crust which was kind of too dry. This tasted far better. I had no complaints from this, only compliments. We do pizza once a week and not buying take out right now this worked out great. This weekend I'll be doing this recipe again with the greek yogurt and trying to get the crust even thinner, but I wonder if it would work the same with regular plain yogurt? Regular plain yogurt is half the cost.
Pizza sauce, one small can of tomato paste per one small 8 oz tomato sauce. Mixx together. Season. I like to add olive oil. Italian seasons, red pepper flakes, or cayenne pepper and a little sugar. And salt and pepper.
works perfectly for calzones....in fact i prefer calzones made with this dough to normal pizza dough, just make your dough slightly drier than the pizza dough and dont over work it.....turns out lovely and light and tastes amazing
I have done the pizza, pity I cannot upload a photo, The baked crust was really soft, even spread really thin and I have added bit olive oil, salt and pinch of sugar. Using this recipe from now on for our mobile pizza oven. Bless you for you kind heart and generosity sharing it with us.
Thanks,
Jared K. Reviea
Thank you for watching and your great compliments Jared!!! :)
What a guy. I never met him and i know he was pretty well connected in the country music world but he just seems like a regular guy. These videos taught me a lot of great tips and tricks for cooking great food. thank you sir. RIP sir. i know you are up there hanging out with some good company and having some great meals with the music gang!!
monmixer I didn’t know he passed 😕
Thank goodness we have videos to remember him by-he's cooking for the Lord now, and charming the angels, no doubt.
Thank you for sharing this recipe!
go-to
Looks great! I'd sprinkle cornmeal on the pan and prick holes through the crust by bouncing a fork on the spread out crust. Thanks! Edit: Also near the end of cooking, switch from bake to broil, beautiful top 😎
Thanks for the tips! :)
Shotgun Red brought a lot of food joy. May he rest in peace and may God bless his loved ones.
🥰
Just tried this tonight for personal pizza night. I have NEVER made a good pizza crust lol. I was so surprised by this recipe. It was delicious! My daughter's had so much fun making it. Big thumbs up for how quick it is to make too. I will be using this recipe everytime we make homemade pizza!
Your making great food memories! So glad you like the pizza dough recipe. So easy. That’s for watching!!!
😍 beautiful
Another option is to mix 1 cup of the plain yogurt and 1 cup of self rising flour in a zip lock bag. Kids love to squish it. Cut the tip off the corner, squeeze out one inch of the dough and clip with scissors into a few inches of preheated oil. Cook for 1-2 minutes until desired golden color is achieved. Sprinkle or toss in powdered sugar, my son loves them in cinnamon sugar!
You'll have yourself some yummy little easy homage donuts! They taste delicious, similar to zeppoles.

What an “Awesome Idea!!”🙌🙌💓🥰
Just made this today with my 3 year old daughter. Amazing and easy. Baked at 450 for about 12 minutes. Make sure the crust is thin. Miss ya Shotgun Red. Enjoyed your cooking and your humor!!!
Thanks for watching and making this recipe. Steve passed away Dec 29th 2018
You’re so sweet! You’ve got a new sub! I’ve been making two ingredient dough for a while. Makes bread breadsticks as bagels too! If you can’t find self rising flour just add 1.5 tsp baking powder and 1/4tsp salt per cup of AP
Flour. Works great!
Sarah, I knew there was a conversion somewhere, ty.
Thanks❤️
I’m asking about the yogurt being too strong tasting. I have self-rising flour to use. The baked goods I make have a strong yogurt taste to them.
@@diannebuls8844 I use Stonyfields whole milk yogurt. It has a very mild flavor, not sour like Greek.
What is AP flour? I am celiac so that will work with GF flour?
I always thought the idea of a Hawaiian pizza was mildly gross until I went into a pizza place and the guy offered me one at half price because someone didn't pick up their order. I was hungry so I liked the idea of no wait and I bought it. It is now one of my favorite pizzas.
👍💙🤣
Add sliced jalapeños to it. Sweet/hot mix is awesome!
An me too yummy yummy yum yum
I Love watching cooking channels but I love this one the best. Not only are the recipe's demonstrated in a very understandable way, but the show is entertaining as well. Never a boring moment and I learned alot. Thank you...
You are so welcome! Thanks for loving the channel!!!😋👍 shotgunred.com
Man, you can tell by his eyes that he loved to cook! God Bless this man's Spirit!
Yes he did ! ❤️
Haha! I finally tried Tim's 2-ingredient pizza dough, and it turned out fantastic! Thank you (and Tim, of course) for the recipe!
Your welcome Mark!
Loved the dough. I usually opt for thin crust when ordering out and avoid bready ones, but this was great. So incredibly soft that you lose track if you’re chewing the dough or melted cheese. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it Frank!! :)
This really is a versatile dough!
what do you do if you have plain flour? How much yeast do you use and how
codylola2010 Self-rising flour doesn’t have yeast in it.
Glad you enjoyed it Mary!
Just made this 2 ingredients pizza dough and it turns out so good. I used it before but I don't remember if I posted. Thanks for sharing. Rip shotgun Red we miss you but your Shelia and friends still keeps videos going. Thanks Shelia

I just tried this crust recipe this evening. I've tried a lot of pizza crust recipes over the years and this is clearly one of the best - and easiest to make.
Great to hear! Appreciate you taking the time to reply that you made it!
Hey shotgun, you definitely know how to make my day with your recipes. Enjoy watching and learning, bless
Your so welcome!
Sounds great!
I had wondered about softness of the crust. I like mine a little crispy, too.... and had thought that is why the temp had to be so high - 500. Do you prebake it as well?
I cook my crust for about 10 minutes then add toppings. It is delish
The crust turns out well without going the extra 10 minutes. Is it crispier your way?
@@denisecarter5244 It might be a little crispier too but depending on the thickness of the crust, it also might prevent overcooking toppings and making sure the crust is cooked through. I put the thinnest of layers of oil on the top to par bake it first. It gives it a nice extra "flavor/browning" :)
So glad I saw your sight on youtube. Thank you for sharing this recipe from one of your viewers, I love homemade ole school simple recipes. My tastes buds went off after you cut that pizza slices. Chef Shotgun Red...you are so awesome. Thank you so much for sharing your delicious meal with us, Aloha..

This was great! I halved the dough to make a personal pan pizza in my 6 inch cast iron skillet and it came out perfectly! Thanks so much for an easy but delicious recipe!!
Sounds great!
I’ve got this going for our lunch today. I love all these great recipes with easy ingredients.
@@johntroxell4928 Thanks, you just answered my question.... I'll try the Vanilla with a little salt.
Great idea
I added garlic powder and orgeno before mixing was so delicious.
Thank you so much Steve and Shelia...so sorry to hear of Steve's passing, but I'll always watch his videos, and cook with him playing in the background, like I did tonight, We will help keep his memory alive!!!

You’re absolutely right, this pizza dough is the best. I did add a bit of sugar and bit of salt.. loved your video, I have been making Neapolitan dough all along , but prefer the taste of this dough. Thanks 👍🏻😊
I bet the sugar really helps the dough get crispy. I will try that.
I have been watching his videos for a long time. This pizza was great. I did not know that he died back in 2018. I am really sad. I will miss him in new episodes.

Glad it turned out great! Thanks for the new tip! Happy 4th!!
Thanks for sharing! :)
I've made pizza with this dough 3 times now, and the compliments from my family members keep pouring in! Thanks Tim from Alaska!
That is awesome!
@Timothy Yakich
Do you think it’s possible to make without a machine like he has? How would you go about it, if so?

Try adding different herbs/seasoning when making the dough; garlic, oregano or cayenne

Great idea!!
My store hasn't had flour or yeast in weeks. So I may give this no yeast dough a try. Luckily I have an ample supply of both AP & Bread flour on hand.

The high temp is a key as far as I am concerned. Raising the temp to 500 was the single best change I made with my pizza making. Cooks the center of rhe crust better.
@James clark How would you get a crust that has a little crunch to it at the bottom?
@@micwilliams7743 Buy a pizza stone.
I like 440, and at the end switch it over to broil 😎
Thanks for the tip!
I go as high as 550 and bake for no longer than 6-8 minutes. I 100% agree that it's the best change you can make for better tasting pizza!

You can make it without a mixer
Stir by hand to with fork...
I do have a fancy dough hook mixer , sits in my basement.
Plus Saurkraut is the best probiotic ever. Very good for your gut health.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the videos Shelia! Keep it coming! God Bless You!

That is a sweet food memory! Thank for making it! Let us know how you like it!
Thanks for liking this recipe. Never made it with plain before.
I do, in fact, put cheese on top of ingredients. As well as on sauce.
Me too
Pizza sauce, one small can of tomato paste per one small 8 oz tomato sauce. Mixx together. Season. I like to add olive oil. Italian seasons, red pepper flakes, or cayenne pepper and a little sugar. And salt and pepper.
Thanks for the tips!
Now wondering about calzones, think I'm going to give it a whirl, maybe brushed up with some olive oil and butter
hi im a big fan

works perfectly for calzones....in fact i prefer calzones made with this dough to normal pizza dough, just make your dough slightly drier than the pizza dough and dont over work it.....turns out lovely and light and tastes amazing
