  • In this tutorial, Harry Frank shows you how to use Trapcode Particular with Essential Properties (formerly called Master Properties), a powerful new Adobe CC (April 2018) feature that makes it easy to create multiple variations of a single composition. If you need to create 5, 50, or even 500 variations on a motion graphics animation, this tutorial will show you how to get it done with a lot less work than ever before.

    This is a better essential graphics tutorial than I found anywhere else. In fact it is the only one that explains this purpose. Thank you Harry

    Great tutorial -- one of the best explanations of the master template feature. Thanks!

    Amazing Tutorial! Thank you! However, I also had an issue with the index/opacity expression. Can't seem to see what I'm doing wrong. It says there is an error in line 1, but literally the only thing I type is "n=" then I let the pick whip do the rest followed by a ";". Any idea why? Adobe AE 2019.

    I have tied over and over to find how to link the light to follow the layer vs parenting with the (pickwip) to the layer and only follows the layer. My version of AF only shows "Parent" and yours says "Parent & Link" I can't get the pickwip to display on the "point of interest" after hitting "A". Can you please tell me how to get the second Pickwip to show up on the same line as "point of Interest"? With mine, when I move the object, the light moves with it. I want the light to turn and follow without moving from left to right. Help...Thanks!

    I cannot seem to figure out why I dont see the "Add property to Essential Graphics" option under particle size. It comes up for the whole comp if i right click but not for the property itself.

      me too , but you can click on the property you want from timeline ( not from effects panel ) and drag it to Essential graphics panel, this works with me.

    I actually couldn't get the expressions to work for the index and opacity. Instead I just added the opacities of each logo to the essential graphics. So I just turned the ones I wanted off and turn the one I want on. Don't know why the expression kept saying error. It was After Effects 2019

    • @silkyblackgold
      @silkyblackgold 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just had this same error. “Undefined value used in expression (could be an out of range array subscript?)".? It seems the syntax has changed so if and else can no longer be on the same line anymore, which translates to:
      n=thisComp.layer("Controls").effect("Logo Selector")("Slider");
      if(Math.floor(n)==index ) 100
      else 0
      Alternately, the values can be on the same line as long as the values are bracketed
      n=thisComp.layer("Controls").effect("Logo Selector")("Slider");
      if ( Math.floor(n)==index ) { 100 } else { 0 }

    I am still having trouble with the Layer Emiiter in Particular 6. When I choose LAYER as the emitter , the Particles dissapear, then When I link the Layer Source, Nothing Happens. Not even at Full Res. I have tried it with everything form Text to a logo. Also Collapsed Transformation is OFF, The Source Layer is in 3D , and still nothing...

    • @MaxonRedgiant
      @MaxonRedgiant  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's rather odd. If you're using a text layer or a layer with paths on it, you should either precomp it or set the Emitter Type to Text/Mask.
      Try this file out and see how it works for you:

      @@ethemenesguzeler8488 the aux system has been replaced with a much more powerful option. You create a new system in the Designer and can choose to emit from another system. Details on that in this video: th-cam.com/video/d3Ox7OZdXgs/w-d-xo.html
