    This is what you get when marketing and tech geeks design a car. For starters, it's a sedan, so if it's not a Camry or Accord, it will be a tough sell. Next, no buttons or dials for HVAC and infotainment controls , no door handles, no traditional steering wheel. A massive display and amount of tech that is likely to add distraction to driving it. Lastly, it's likely going to be $100k+ so it's not going to be what people are asking for. People want an affordable regular car. If you want to make an EV, make something that is like a normal regular car to help migrate ICE drivers over to EVs. These creations are nothing more than play toys for the rich. Further complicating it's success, the "rich" want a prestige brand, not a Honda/Sony collaboration.

    • @ES-sf1tz
      @ES-sf1tz 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      i can agree w most of this but i dont think its true. on the west coast (idk about east) of the us, teslas are hugely popular and have all the things you listed. its for tech nerds who want a techy car, and tech is a huge, growing industry. its unfortunate bc i hate teslas, and i hate the “sanitization” of cars. i agree it likely wont sell well, but not for the reasons you listed. its meant to be a tesla competitor, but why buy an afeela if tesla is right there? it doesnt have the brand recognition that tesla has. while ofc its made by honda, this is not targeted to honda fans and that much is clear.

    This Afeela is exactly representative of why I think I'm on the last new car I plan on owning in my lifetime. Yep, it's "only" a '22 Accord Sport, and it "only" has 195 horsepower, but it is kind of fun to drive, kind of comfortable, does what I need it to, is a willing partner on back roads or the Interstate. No, it's not an MB or a BMW. It doesn't electrically go 0-60 in 1.9 seconds (and where do we really get to use that on public roads anyway) , but what it does, it does with some food for my driving soul. We all have cars like that. For me, it was what I could afford and it does what I need it to with some character and passion, none of which involves message boards, steering yokes, gigantic entertainment centers to watch while the car "drives itself." Does adding more distractive capabilities represent anything a person with any motoring passion really wants? Tom, I find myself watching fewer reviews, and it's not anything you do. You are terrific, but the products are becoming more and more bland and more and more out of reach. Sport utes everywhere started it, giant trucks added to it, this kind of stuff will finish it. (And instead of 'save the manuals," could we have had a 'save the sedan" movement? Just a request.)

    OK, per the website: about Accord/Camry size, about 460 HP in AWD form, 91 kW battery, can the unnecessary range killing 21" wheels. Do we need all that Times Square stuff in the front? And 150 kW charging max? OK, there's that. Then there's a ....yoke, that's gotta go. But you do get "Subtle Elegance in Motion" and a "A Creative Playfield Open to Everyone." I mean, who doesn't want all that, right? And above all else, there's a "Synchronized Sense of People and Mobility." Made in Ohio so guess you'll get a tax credit, assuming Trump and the GOP doesn't kill that if they win. And it appears the charge port is on the driver's front. How bout passenger front or driver rear so we can kumbaya at Tesla SCs? I miss anything?

    This thing is as interesting as a manila folder. The EV tech dates back to 2016 with slow charging and mediocre range. Definitely a suburban commuter car for those boring drives from Everett to Bellevue or Carlsbad to Irvine.

    This con man, I mean pitch man, doesn't seem to realize he's speaking with an experienced journalist. This was hard to watch, Tom, but not your fault.

    The yoke steering wheel really appeals to overgrown preadolescent boys who need to feel like they’re piloting a jet fighter instead of driving a car. Neet-O!. Thanks, Elon Musk, for coming up with this pointless, asinine gimmick-it’s catching on!

    Why do so many new EV makers start with a sedan when the compact SUV is the vehicle consumers are buying.

    That thing is junk and this video was awful. This isn’t the future except for a very few folks. Honda will loose their financial shirts on this dog.

      Japan lost the internet game, lost smartphone game, and is loosing EV game.
      They are not so smart, they mostly imitate and improve. I also hate the fact they kill whales for food again.

      @@TJDST4 I don’t think so. Sony is the wrong partner and they are trying to go up market into a softening market with an at best mediocre product.

      It was about barbaric whaling campaign Japan started, violating international law.
      About EVs Made in Japan. It's clear that Japan lost EV revolution. They are imitators, mainly, but unable of huge tech changes. They also lost Internet, social media, smartphone phases.
