- In this video, I played every F1 game since 2009 and tried out what I believe to be the best feature in each to see how the addition of new content has changed over time. Some old F1 games had more new features than others with the best ones being classic cars, young driver tests and more.

2016 was the first game with parts upgrades for cars. 2019 had story mode and gave us the legendary Devon Butler and even Lukas Weber.

@@AVerdadeEstaLaForaMapping Yeah but it was introduced first in 2019 as a "prototype" you could say. It wasn't as long but you started in F2 and made your way into F1 through some sort of little challenges and some cutscenes, it was pretty cool.
@@AVerdadeEstaLaForaMapping Story mode in F1 2021 was Breaking Point, in F1 2019 there were a couple of scenarios for F2 and Butler and Weber would forever be referred to as your "former F2 rival" and "former f2 Teammate" by the media (which was removed for f1 21 or22(?))

And 2018 first had ers but 2017 was the return of classic cars until 2020
F1 2016: SC Comeback, VSC introduced, Formation lap introduced, whole new career plus r&d come on
2016 is groundbreaking, the new generation started there

And am pretty sure f1 2016 has a manual start as well underrated game
The vibe of 2010 was great, loved the menus
I also loved how you'd see your teammate show up - Webby's paddock had Kovalainen (as he was driving for Lotus), my paddock had Barrichello and Alonso since I was driving for Williams then Ferrari respectively.
Menus are very bad from a UX perspective.
Not to mention the opening music was a banger.
The career mode was perfect, you couldn't start at a big team and have to make your way forwards and it just felt so perfect
I also miss that while you were in the pit there's music playing in the background for the people in the grandtands and then in would go into the foreground while fast forwarding time.
My personal list of favorite features:
2009 - The game itself. A new official franchise for F1 after Studio Liverpool.
2010 - An immersive career mode, mixing with the menu with the paddock scenario.
2011 - Red flag, safety car and flexible wings.
2012 - Young drivers' tests as a career begin and two players online championship.
2013 - Classic cars, tracks and scenario mode.
2014 - Scenario mode.
2015 - Playing two seasons in one single game (2014 and 2015) and for the first time cars and liveries have been updated from the launch.
2016 - VSC and formation lap introduction.
2017 - The career mode. One of the hardest. Many year for reaching the top as a backmarker.
2018 - ERS management and an advanced tyre temperature management.
2019 - F2 cars.
2020 - My team career.
2021 - Breaking Point and and two player career.
2022 - THE SOFAS.
2023 - F1 Replay mode
2022 was F1 Life actually

The best feature of F1 2014 is the ability to exit it.
F1 2009 was the last game with the test drives for teams but not the first. It was introduced in F1 2005!
F12011 on the ds has test drives
F1 2012 too
It was on F1 05, F1 06, F1 06 championship edition, F1 09, F1 2010, F1 2011,F1 2012 and F1 2013
was introduced in f1 2004, and it was hard af hahaha

F1 2010 had a lot of Racedriver GRID vibes. Which is good because that was such a good game! Menus etc are very similar
2010 had the best menu, the nostalgia and the career mode was perfect
Dirt2 had the same menu style, Dirt3 had the damage screen too iirc, I quite like it 👍

2012 the young drivers academy, testing for the team you can get in. That was awesome.

F1 2010 has the BEST backround music and soundtrack of them all.
in 2013 the best feature in my opinion was the little emails you have got from the game. When you were close to a record, or passed the previous record holder, you got an email that told you. Like most wins in rookie season and things like that. Also we had a newspaper where they wrote about your performance. It was a nice touch of immersion that i miss.
Hits the driver super hard:
Gets disqualified: “that seems unfair”
One thing i always loved about the scenarios in F1 2012 are the cutscenes before loading with the drivers doing those cold presentation scenes
The best thing in F1 2009 was the mission mode with different scenarios, some of which were based on real life events
I especially remember the mission where you were in P1 with Slicks in Spa and heavy rain began to fall. Everyone behind you has gone for full wets and you had to survive the whole round and after pitting try to win the race

My all time favourite feature from any game was classic tracks on F1 2013. Being able to drive the then current F1 cars on the GP layout of Brands Hatch was awesome

The best feature from F1 2022 is the AI safety car takeover in multiplayer races, the host can set an option so that when the safety car comes out, after a few laps the AI will take over the drivers cars, it helps with dirty drivers giving penalties and i think there is even a unique HUD. F1 2022 also has commentary during pitstops if you are spectating an online race, Crofty makes an appearance and comments on the stop time

I wish someone like Aarava would make a video like this except in a more serious manner, focusing on just the things they’ve brought the last 4-5 years, and looking at the drop-off in new features and progression with the game. Surprised that F1 2019 introducing driver transfers to Career mode wasn't mentioned. Made playing through every season in career feel much more worth it.

Liked the video a lot, but it was a bit weird to hear that one of the most feature packed years was hard to find features to name for. I of course mean 2016. Safety car, career with upgradables, formation lap, physics etc.
