I just looked at Kirk's review on a production and he noted a few things I'm wondering if you experienced as well....he said a slight lag in shift if you get on it. He also mentioned soft rear suspension while going over a speed bump. Jerky stop start. Lastly, noisy seat cooler motor. Any truth or was that a pre-production thing?

Of course the XSE feels firmer and tighter in the steering and handling department. You should’ve compared the Pathifinder to the XLE model. The XSE has sport tuned suspension from the factory.

Thanks, guys, for another excellent comparison review. You might consider adding a score for residual value at say 5 years and also cost of maintenance over a similar time frame. These are easy to research on the internet. Auto reviewers almost never mention these 'intangibles', but they are important considerations for many people considering a new car purchase.

Good honest review guys, I picked up my 2022 Pathfinder SL Premium in same color combo. I did compare it to the same Highlander XSE Trim. I went with the Pathfinder for a few reasons. Price difference & Availability. Highlanders are more scarce and Toyota dealers are marking them up ridiculously especially the XSE Trim compared to the 2022 Pathfinder. You failed to mention that the Pathfinder SL Premium package gives you the tow hitch with 7 point wiring harness and 6,000 pound towing capacity compared to 5,000 for the Highlander which doesn’t give you a tow hitch with any trim level or package, Pathfinder has 7 drive modes to choose from and in SPORT mode it’s throttle is much more responsive. I am very impressed with the interior trim materials and the ride quality and smoothness of my new Pathfinder. IMO The Pathfinder is the much better bargain compared to Highlander.

Redo this review with top trims of both vehicles, that XSE is 2 trims lower then the Highlanders top trim, while the Nissan is only 1 trim lower. 21" Highlander Platnum AWD owner, you can keep the Nissan, owned a new Murano, dealer decided to take it back & give us another new one because the first one had so many issues. Second one was no better, had a blower motor replaced, transfer case replaced at under 20k miles, both front window regulators, driverside vent had a whistle that was never figures out, wheel bearing, radio also would play stations we had no idea what they were because it wasn't what was displayed on the screen, & windshield had a creaking sound in the winter. Got it brand new & all this happened under 20k miles. Had the highlander for over a year & not a single issue.

Agreed. So many points on this comparison made no sense because they deliberately chose a low end Highlander model. On so many areas you gave Pathfinder a half point when Highlander equaled or bettered what Pathfinder was offering if you had used a higher end model. The best way to do this type of comparison is to compare top model vs top model, and then let the buyer decide.

Yes, I understand reliability has always been the main issue with them, but I'm on my 3rd CVT Pathfinder, never had an issue with them, and always though them to really shift very well at all speeds. My sister had her Pathfinder CVT go bad after 4,000 miles, but of course it was replaced for free, and now she has about 120,000 miles and it's still going strong.

Hello Car Confections. Good comparison video between the newly released 2022 Nissan Pathfinder and the 2021 Toyota Highlander. Both vehicles were able to put up a fight in the ring. The Pathfinder delivered the knockout punch to the Highlander. Overall, the Pathfinder's exterior design schematics is a little more stylish than the Highlander....especially at the front end. The lower front facia on the Highlander was the achilles heel. The lower portion looks like the mouth opening of a whale or shark. Due to the fact that drivers are doing a lot of towing these days, the Pathfinder has the advantage. The rims on the Highlander are more stylish though and the V6 engine sounds better with a more aggressive growl sound to it. The Pathfinder has a little more versatility and will do a better job off roading. In the next vehicle comparison video or the comparison video after that, maybe a comparison between the Volkswagen Atlas and Nissan Pathfinder can be done. Or, the Atlas and Highlander. Those would be nice matchups.
