Moog DFAM + Eowave QUADRANTID SWARM Modular Techno Practice Jam

  • This is me in the early stages of practicing with something I've been mulling for ages: A tougher techno modular case, built around the Eowave Quadrantid Swarm and mighty Moog DFAM in combo, plus drums and FX. Inspired by Surgeon, Karenn, and Lady Starlight. A simple system for very late nights/early mornings. INFO BELOW!
    PLEASE SUPPORT ME ON PATREON! 🙌
    / mylarmelodies
    Everything you hear is coming from the case. Note the Doepfer Precision adder is used as a 4 channel audio mixer with mutes. 4ms QCD supplies clocks and reset signals, it's great.

    I love seeing people make such great music with smaller racks. It makes eurorack less intimidating compared to the videos of people with their wall of modules

      I wonder how difficult it is to learn Four Bricks Rook. It seems like a powerful trigger / gate sequencer

    • @noisynois1670
      @noisynois1670 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

       @braunld it's not difficult, it's just that the dfam and swarm already come with vca filters, slide sequencer etc, the others come loose and are different flavors, effects, sounds, they are not complex oscillators, where were the slides and accents??? It is just an example although with these two modules it can be done, having a Eurorack fauna is very enjoyable and it is just as difficult to have 2 as it is 100 (you don't buy a hundred at once it is little by little), it has not used sliding or accent that makes it sound better, much better and acid filter for example, more acid, the reberration is lacking for example, I don't know, a great Eurorack studio isn't scary, you start with two modules and end up with a hundred hehehehehe greetings

    Man... You have no idea how much I look forward to your videos, and what an amazing affect you've had on my SYNTHESIZER journey. Analog Hardware, Digital Hardware, Software, Standalone Synths, Modular, subtractive, additive, East/West Coast - all of it. Out of all the channels I watch & follow, your videos are the most enjoyable for me, the most interesting, and just fun & free flowing in general.
    loopop & DivKid are super technical, and I learn a ton from them. Learning Modular, HAINBACH, LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER, Perfect Circuit, and tons of others channels I'm missing are all great channels. There's so many great people running great channels making great music & reviews & tutorials on the beauty & wonders of Analog Synths and sythesis/Synthesizers, but I can always come back to your channel for great content.
    Love your style. Presentation. And that you actually make music during the videos even when/if they're reviews & such. I just can't overstate how much I thoroughly enjoy the content you create.
    And if you would ever have time, it'd be awesome if you'd ever be willing to have a chat on Signal, or something like that, just so I could pick your brain on things. I'm limited financially at the moment for what gear I can afford. My only hardware synth so far is the Behringer Model D that I bought for myself last Christmas. And then I have an Arturia Keystep to control the Model D( and whatever else I end up getting) and a Novation LaunchKey 25 that I use as a midi controller in Ableton, Logic Pro, and previously Propellerhead Reason. I've produced Drum & Bass for 18 years in various DAW's and only got into Synths & analog gear since 2018. Synths have reinvigorated my drive to make music and be creative, as before I was 75% sample-based and music production became boring & tedious searching thorough 100's of GB'S of samples.
    But now: I can't wait to get home from work or wake up in the morning and noodle or create patches in VCV rack. But even with great free software Synths, Synth VST's & VCV rack, I'm compelled to get my hands on physical Analog HARDWARE. It's an Itch I just HAVE TO scratch.
    Anyway; enough rambling. Thanks for so much stellar content!
    Cheers!

    Dope system! Not sure what Ears is gonna do, but I think I'd ditch it and add a little oscillator that you could put into DFAM's Ext Audio. Something like Sinc Iter, or maybe just some voltage controlled noise like VCNO or Noise Square. Plugging just about any voltage controlled sound source into DFAM's Ext Audio really expands it's range.

    • @mylarmelodies
      @mylarmelodies  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a great shout - I want to explore adding a looper to it but it may be a bit too much to handle - the Ears was for returning the looper to the modular since you can use Eowave Airtenuators on the way out.

      You can pry it out from the original case and stick it in another one! It’s held in with sticky foam

    Hey @mylarmelodies, I am having trouble playing this thing using midi. It syncs up and starts the sequencer, but it doesn't reset the pattern when I hit play, and I can't play anything using external midi controller. I feel a little stupid:)
    Also when in poly mode using clock in with CV, when I am hitting pads to play chords I also engage/disengage the triggers on that pad which messes up my pattern. Any advice?

      Shoot Eowave an email to clarify! Not sure as hardly touched the MIDI side when I made this!

      This is an old Lamond case with a Tiptop uZeus and 3000ma adapter for it - the lamond cases aren’t available anymore but hopefully you can find modern equivalents!

      The Tiptop is on the low end in terms of power delivery for this case size by the way.
