  • Telekom Electronic Beats TV met with Lady Starlight for the next episode of Tech Talk, and got into the nitty gritty of her relationship with modular synthesis. Making her name on legendary labels like Stroboscopic Artefacts and Len Faki's Figure, she has gone on to become one of the best known live acts on the circuit. She has also regularly performed live collaboratively with techno legend Surgeon. Join us now, as she talks us through all things Eurorack, and how it relates to her live performances.

Maybe. The way to avoid gas is when some gear catches your ear think “how can I get my current gear to do that?” More often than not you can probably do what the “new” gear is doing. Read manuals and learn your gear inside out. Shop smart and have fun. 😃

      100%
I sold so much gear now I limit myself to TR8S, novation peak, roland tb3 and ableton push 2 for my soft synths.
Invested the money I got from my synths into an SSL six mixer

Beautiful, love the studio and the mentality, like a kindred spirit. While I'm more of a keys guy than modular it's nice to recognise a similar approach, good to see the Bass Station 2 and the MC-303 in there too. Keep inspiring!

I started with Cherry modular vst on my computer...saved me thousands of dollars and helped me learn what hardware I really should buy first. The limitation to the Cherry is that I can only change one parameter at a time but it's really cheap learning. If you want to see the max in Eurorack, check out JunkieXL on TH-cam.

For me, musicians who write music by way of exploring, experimenting and jamming versus composing and recreating songs in their head is that the former, at least in my observation are more likely to write and release music more aligned with their taste and also are more satisfied with their tracks after they're completed

Being a beginner as me.. Start with cheap stuff!! Modules don't lose to much value on second hand market. Start with "easy" modules. One of my first modules was the varigate 4+, à bit to complicated, now I get it but really hate it because of all the frustrating hours. Had to sell.
