  • The Xbox Elite v2 controller is definitely top class, but it is still worth your money? Here is my experience after using this controller everyday for nearly 3 years. If you are in the market for a new controller this one still holds up today.

I have had mine for a year so far with quite a bit of use and no issues. It's an amazing controller. Have a aim for ps5 and my elite 2 blows it away. Feels perfect in my hands paddles feel great and customization is great. Also excellent battery life. Might be the best overall controller I have ever owned. Love it so much I bought a used one on ebay with bad bumper buttons. It's a pretty easy fix. Great controller

@@brzozx7651 You might want to check out the King Kong Pro 2 controller with a Brook XB adapter. It uses hall sensors which doesnt seem prone to drift and feels awesome. The only issue is no back paddles and it has to be used wired on Xbox. The sticks feel super smooth and the controller offers alot of other features. Its missing trigger stops and stick tension adjustments too, so there may be some limitations depending what you use it for. I find myself switching between the Elite 2 and KKP2 depending on the game.

First off, i assume that these controllers had/have a huge issue with quality control and or issues with the consistency of the parts and youre basically rolling a dice wether you get a good or a garbage controller.
Sadly this (mine) is a pretty garbage controller, it feels nice at first but is cheaply made and will probably break after a while. The paddles are nice but the small ones are the first things to go cause they just stop working properly after a few weeks of dust+sweat. The triggers arent that much better off, if i try to blow out the shoulder buttons because they decide to be sticky again for some reason on mine i shortcut circuits inside with the moisture. That causes the thing to just just fly through menues cause it permanently presses L3 button which activates sonic mode in the one/series home menu. Every time i do that accidentally im glad that the series x and ps5 are such convenient room heaters with places to dry stuff on. Heck i even burned off a chunk of plastic and rubber cause the left trigger is misalligned and was rubbing against the rubber and plastic permanenly. Just use the dang Series Controller, feels much better in the hands imo, you dont have to painfully open it every one or two months to clean it (which is very hard without damaging it) and it wont break just by using it normally.
Btw, if youre on using a controller vs others in shooters on PC just throw yourself out the window please.
Ive never broken a controller in 30 years even after using them at least a few hundred if not thousands of hours, not even a ps3 controller which people always complained about breaking after a few months... I assume those were mostly salty cod kids. This thing however started giving me problems after just a few weeks.
Oh another huge plus is that this thing doesnt even manage to have a securely installed batterie, bad enough that its a permanently installed battery that you cant remove without opening it but mine also just disconnects if you give it a slightly over emphasized shake. At least 3 times over the last 5 years the disconnection of the batterie got so bad and basically became permanent i had to open it up to fix it, gladly i hate this thing so much i just slammed it flat on the table pretty hard to make the batterie slide back where its supposed to be, which fixed it for about a year each time.
It also has the rubber becoming loose problem of the first gen Elites, just not as bad... At least as long as youre not opening this bitch up. Im glad ive got mine for free cause this thing causes nothing but misery.
A while ago the left bumper started sticking again and im just mad cause i dont even use it for anything, its literally just in its charging pouch and waiting to be abused as menu navigator to open twitch/my own stream when my Series controller is used for emulators on PC at that time.
At least mine doesnt have stick drift but to be honest ive never managed to cause on any pad ever, my smol hands are just too delicate to press any stick to death xD
I also completely forgot about the trigger adjusting nipples on the back, theyre also a bad joke and will fly off after a while, i was lucky enough to find one of the two after they randomly fell off and super glued it back, the other one has been missing for 4 years or so cause i was not willing to search for it under my desk, and on/under the rug for hours.

Personally my controller over the past few years has been the Razer Wolverine Ultimate. Insanely nice controller, I've only had to replace it once about a year and a half ago but then a few months ago it got some bad stick drift. So I've been using the controller that came with my XSX, now the bumper on it gave out and I'm looking for a replacement. Idk if I wanna pull the trigger on the Elite Series 2 or just go with what I know. Especially since the Elite 2 is such a dice roll, some people luck out and have it for a year or two while others are replacing it every other month.

I love the Xbox Elite design, but my Elite 1 fell apart - stick drift, paddles became spongey and unresponsive, grips peeled away... Users have reported similar problems right out the box with the Elite 2 and it doesn't sound to me like Microsoft have said, "yes! we've definitely fixed the problems!" Those to called in their warrantees got new controllers, not the originals fixed. On the other hand I forked out £206 for a Scuff and it's going strong. Feels good, the outer paddles are great - reserve the inner one for rare uses - and I've had no stick issues in a year of use. Most of the stick response options are coming into standard game options in any event. The only thing that's lasted longer is my original basic Xbox S controller that came with my Xbox One S - never any issues with it.

I don't recommend anyone who plays BR/MP buy the Elite 2. Within about a year and a half I started having massive right thumbstick stick drift. Also as far as the weight goes I don't mind a heavier controller, but the problem with the weight in the Elite 2 is it's all at the top... making it super top heavy. Mix that with the actual hand holds that imo are super undersized and not very "grippy" and the controller can go flying and just isn't comfortable or balanced. YMMV as far as hand sizes go but I think the Elite 2 is overpriced garbagio.
I also agree with his statement about the back buttons. I "could" use all 4 (and have with other controllers) but there are too many accidental hits so it forces me to only use 2.
Ultimately it comes down to hand size and weight/balance for me. Even if I hand little baby hands the balance is way off.

To my defense I attempted to use the tall thumb stick when I first got it, but I had been using the kontrol freeks for a while already and it felt more comfortable. Had I never used them I probably would’ve just rocked the tall stick. But I get your point LOL

I was not impressed with how quickly mine started developing stick drift on the left stick. Only took about 2 weeks of about 1 hour a day of playing. It excels in every other aspect though.

    • @travis8106
      @travis8106 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I had a huge problem with drift for while. Do you eat while playing? Or play when you have dirty hands?
I got stick drift on all of my PS4 controllers. Would get a replacement about 3 times a year.
I would come home from doing construction, hop straight on. Dinner would be ready usually soon after and I would eat during downtime, only to pick the controller up with the same hands.
After I looked into it, new rule, no dirty hands. Never replaced a controller since and its been a couple years.

These remotes are trash and make shooters and fighting games impossible for me. My hand is shaped nothing like this remote and gives me wrist and finger pain like a mouse and keyboard to the 10th power. I'm on my 10th remote. Don't buy the elite 2 on sale they are refurbished. The Duke and the s type are the perfect pistol grip and with a over the top grip and my favorite remotes. I can't play shooter's or fighting games with any Xbox one remote. I hate my elites, the sideways reach and stretch grip is terrible and my hand looks cramped just to hold it. Who's hand did they use for this design?? I use all kinds of power tools for work and have no trouble, as soon as I put this remote in my hand it's like the wrong tool for the job, like putting your shoes on the wrong foot and trying to run. Awful design and even worse quality. I have every console since the 80's all with original remotes Xbox one is the only console I have to buy new remotes for. If I could just plug in my duke or s type or 360 remote I'd be fine. These are dog shit....

we live in a world where people think COD is a good game lmao... smh i miss the days when Halo 2 and Halo 3 actaully were the skilled games.. now kids can jump into fortnite and then got to cod and just play because there is no skill involved at all.. and trust me i know halo is now dog water... anything after H3 is complete trash... but coming home from school turnin on ya xbox and jumpin into Halo 3 with a population of 800/900K players online is a different feelin... cod isnt terrible but compared to real halo games its basic.

Ur so mad for what? Some people enjoy cod for the nostalgia as well as the change in gameplay throughout the years. Not everyone likes it yea but u do realize how big of a playerbase the cod community still has? Warzone had 400 million people playing it with more in its peak. Vanguard was terrible and Mw2 is catered towards bad players. But u cant call Cod bad just cuz u were a halo guy back when gaming was actually good.

i broke 4 of them in 2 years every single time it was bumper issues!
razor wolverine v2 CHROMA can be purchased for $100 if you have amazon prime. it has 6 paddles!
ELITE SERIES 2 IS GARBAGE, but it is the BEST garbage i have ever seen, and used.
Loved it until it broke 4x on me. I NEVER dropped it. If you play any game that uses bumpers alot (like fortnite or assassins creed) Then the elite series 2 will only last you like 2-6 months.
It will be a good 2-6 months but short lived.
    Get razer chroma!
I have had no other issues all 4 elites had bumper issues, bumpers will register two- zero inputs at random, making gameplay impossible for any game with bumpers.
The bumpers literally work based on a PIECE OF PAPER on the inside of the controller. go and look at the inside of the controller! the bumpers are literally made out of PAPER. If the paper gets bent, your bumpers break. (It will get bent from pressing bumpers alot.)
Unfortunate but good controller till it breaks. It has SEVERE issues. I promise you!
When your warrenty ends, you can get a new s2 elite for only $80 from microsoft. And keep the broken one! Thats a good deal, but its gonna break still.
Razer wolverines have better bumpers in my opinon. And you can get a 2 year warranty on amazon.
I personally bought another series 2 elite for $80 from my expired warrenty, AND the Razor Wolverine v2 Chroma. The Razor is a BEAST of a controller!
