8.1 is better for any devices, not just older. It surpasses 10 and 11 in terms of speed and smoothness in virtually every aspect possible. To Windows 11's credit, though, it's newer, fancier and has a bunch of useful features that 8.1 doesn't have and never will have, but compared with 8.1, it's bloated as hell (same as 10...). I mean look at the number of processes running on 11 - 146 vs. only 32 on 8.1. Enough said. Windows 8.1 is the most complete, stable and smooth OS Microsoft has ever released. It's also the last one where you can easily disable automatic updates without messing with the group policy. The only thing they messed up was Metro UI. It wasn't ugly or anything, but it had no place on a desktop. But all of that is just a minor inconvenience because you don't even have to use Metro UI at all if you install a 3rd party replacement for the Start Menu.

Fun Fact: Windows 8.1 can run the latest Firefox (123 as the time of writing) without any need of an Extended Kernel what so ever

Yeah 8.1 along with the Windows 7 theme is just perfect.. However Steam support will end in a few months time 😢 I bought a newer Windows 11 laptop and it's coming today.

Newer OS is slower than older one. Who would have guessed.
My suggestion is keep your laptop on the same OS that it came with. The hardware usually matches the software.
Unless you bought a high end one , don't upgrade the OS , just keep it up to date until the end of support.
I mean windows 11 and 10 are just as fast… that is only if junk isn’t pre installed into windows…
Windows 8.1 is probably the fastest modern windows version besides XP, but XP doesn't use WDDM so that's subjective.
My laptop is Lenovo z5070 . My Nvidia gpu have driver for windows 11 but my intel hd graphic don't have officially driver for win 11 , how to install driver for my intel gpu ?!

Why do you not bother syncing up the boot times at 1:00? The button looks pressed at different times to me.

I would say Windows 8.1 would best for low end computer. Yeah I got my first laptop having dual boot which is Windows 8.1 and 11.

The end of support for Windows 7 made me upgrade all of the PC's from 2004-2008 to Windows 8.1, and besides i missed Windows 8.1,. Because i hadn't Windows 8.1 in three years (from May 2017 to November 2020).

Yeah I saw my CPU render time difference between windows 10 and windows 8.1 and 8.1 was giving me extra 180 points in cinebench r15 (intel core i5-4570)

For this kinda laptop its impossible. If you have gaming laptop its better with windows 11 or windows 10. Because latest graphics drivers do not support older windows operating systems

Appreciate the video man. Glad theres a reason to go for 8.1 but since 11 is the newer but despite it being slower, Windows 11 is just a better choice.
I have windows 11 install on core 2 duo E8400 it take hardly 10 sec to boot and work perfectly fine.

Windows 11 can´t work plenty of speed on a i5 3th. Gen. CPU, it was designed for 8th. gen. or above.

I hate Windows 11 I've downloaded it on my windows 10 laptop with SSD drive and it was so laggy and unstable so I went back to windows 10! Never upgrading to 11 even when windows 10 ends support!!!

@@mats520maybe you can buy overcoming TPM with command prompt but windows 11 will be insanely slow and leggy, that felt like is an OS fault rather than the CPU (with really is 😅)
