    I really loved the realism of QoS. If only the franchise had looked to this movie as the guide to their future: rather than laser beams and spaceships, this film captured the banality of actual power players. The villain of this film was not a deranged billionaire intent on seeing the world burn, but instead a calculated cabal of secondary world leaders. These people had enough power to be untouchable, but not so much that they were recognizable. Isn't it ironic that since 2008 the world has turned stranger than fiction, or at least stranger than this bond entry?

      @countalma9800 4 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      James Bond is a fantasy world; it's never been about "gritty realism". Bond doesn't have to be like Roger Moore, but pretending like it's a serious spy thriller franchise is just silly. Bond is the longest-running, most successful franchise in history, and the secret of its success is, apparently, in the style and entertainment aspects of it, which this particular film lacks entirely. The direction is just awful. The action sequences are shot with shaky camera and very aggressive editing, that makes it impossible to see what's happening on screen. The makers of this movie should've studied Battleship Potemkin (1925) to learn a thing or two about shooting action and editing.

They would of had several shots of this one scene done numerous times over, and if they think these cuts were good enough... Well Jesus christ maybe we should have taken the hint things might get worse. I also wanna show some quick love to spectre, it had a great villain and a pretty good story more like a classic bond. The whole Quantum being part of SPECTRE thing wasn't as believable for me as it was supposed to. If they had actually put in hints in the other films to lead up to the whole Blofeld telling Bond "haha I've been the one behind everything that has happened to you" thing then it would have been more believable, but SPECTRE lost me with the 10 minute fight inside an out-of-control helicopter despite some cool scenes. It was filled with too way too many cliches to the point of film practically making fun of itself for it. QoS had too much frenetic editing for a Bond film, but I respect Marc Forster's effort to throw in tons of symbolism throughout, and the writing imo was better than SPECTRE despite being made during the writer's strike.
