    I have subscribed because of the completeness of your videos, i.e. the intro, the fun of the search and then the history afterwards which is marvelous. So many others don't show the research info afterwards, so I very much appreciate that you do. Thanks :-)

    Hi, Si! I am totally hooked up with your videos. I like pretty much everything: the intro, the music, the attention to details (like the records you are using for presentation , the history lessons, the passion, the adventures, the upSIcle…and I can go on until tomorrow… Thank you for sharing. You are doing a really amazing work. About the bovril medal: I think is BO not 80, like so: BO VR IL from left to right and from top to bottom , VR in the middle common for both.

    The single 'cannelure' featured on the bullet as well as the shape and dimensions of the projectile suggest it may be for a .45 Colt Automatic Pistol or given the location possibly a locally manufactured .455 Webley Scott revolver.

    I wish we had that deposit system here in the u.s. it may help with with the litter problem. I went to Los Angeles about 10 years ago and while we were leaving , as I looked out of the plane window at the interstate below , I could see piles of trash that had to be at least 3 feet tall on both sides of the roads. We were about 200 hundred feet off the ground I think. I honestly dont k ow if people would go for a deposit system though, if all they got back was less than a dollar or whatever the case may be. People are so wasteful here in the states, not everyone but the majority. I wish I could live in a nicer country, but it's hard to just leave loved ones behind

    Really want to get into mudlarking what is the best times to go in London

    • @Sifinds
      @Sifinds  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scott Ross you need a permit first Scott. For more info look on the website www.pla.co.uk. Then check the tide times. It differs every day.

  • @scottross7250
    @scottross7250 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    New to the channel but some of these finds are great and it seems a lot of people find these little pipes they look so cool really would like to start I have just sent a email to send for the permit but have to wait 4 weeks 🙁 I love the history you show on your channel to your finds...great work keep up the hard work....do you generally go first thing in the morning or do the tide times change is there a chart to follow

    • @Sifinds
      @Sifinds  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Scott Ross The tides change all the time. There is a timetable on PLA website. Yes most of the time we go early morning. Keep an eye on your exits and don't wander to far until you know the landscape. It's a dangerous place to be when the tide comes in.

    So I'm binge watching your video's backwards in time, Simon. So I have seen your video about tips for beginners. But do you have tips about the metaldetector itself? I would use it here on the shore and fields, just as an outdoors hobby, and meanwhile cleaning the neighbourhood :)

    • @Sifinds
      @Sifinds  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Emma Van Ursel each one is different. Read the manual cover to cover and practice in the garden/yard with coins etc and get to know your machine. Practice makes perfect.

    to use the metal detector in uk you have to have a lincense or are you free?

    • @Sifinds

      For the Thames you need a special permit from the PLA, for inland you need the permission of the land owner.

    Why does one needs a permit to 'take a mudbath'? Is it private property?

    • @Sifinds
      @Sifinds  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Imca vdB You don't need a permit to take a mud bath but you do need one to remove items from the foreshore. Why? So they can keep an eye on numbers. Send people latest maps of restricted and no-go areas. Also send people safety advice. The foreshore is owned by The Crown, so yes, technically you are asking permission to search there.
