It doesn’t matter what the condition of the finds are it’s the history and the stories attached to them because every find will have a story to tell and it’s an insight to the past great finds

I wonder if they would let you look through the pile of dirt and mud they’ve scooped out of the river. I would think you could find all kinds of awesome stuff because it’s dug out❤️
I can see why she got her job, incredible young lady, Si been watching for a few months now, my dads an Edgware lad RIP, watching you hunting makes me well happy, you’re history making is incredible that word again, keep going bud I hope as many do to meet you one day on the foreshore, I’m spotting stuff now when you are searching but you keep moving 😂😂😂
I think you should bring one brick home every time you mudlark and see what you have at the end of the summer. I know they're heavy but it might make for an interesting video later. Thanks for the post! 💙

Si, in an antique store here in USA, I found a Codd bottle, apothecary jars, creamery crocks, ginger beer bottles, and inkwells from GB. Since I had been lusting after your finds on the Thames and the bottle dumps, it was a fortuitous find for me. Going tomorrow to check if the marble is still in the Codd bottle.
I find your videos fascinating. Lived around London my whole life and always wondered what treasures would be found in the Thames.

I find mudlarking so fascinating. Fair play to you and the litter pickers as well. Wish I could go mudlarking but I wouldn't know where to start over here in Ireland. I was born in London and lived there until I was 2/3 id like to think if I was still living there id be mudlarking on the Thames foreshore with a permit obvs 😂💖💖Thanks Si love your videos 😘

Lots of interesting things going on in this video! Nice to meet Eddie & the kids and find out about the foreshore cleanup. Interesting bit on the bricks. If I were there, I'd take an odd ball one like the one that said woodbox or a Tudor brick.

@@Sifinds I watched a video on your channel not long after we met you near Limehouse and it didn't show us so I thought you had not used the footage. Then last night we were watching this episode and Ethan was saying 'that's the bowl he gave us! That's the musket ball he gave us!' then my jaw dropped when we saw ourselves 😂 they keep saying we need to do more mud larking so I'm pretty sure we'll bump into you again👍👍

Hello, Si, always love to see what you'll find! Your finds were small, but interesting, nonetheless. I love the musket balls and grapeshot! And the cufflink was awesome! Kudos to the team cleaning the foreshore. If everyone would do his part, a great difference would be made in a short amount of time! Thank you for doing all you can to keep the foreshore clean!

I think that brass fastener might be a garter for a sock or stocking. Beautiful buttons...the Irish one is particularly beautiful.

Love these videos mudlarking there is on my bucket list so great to see them picking up litter i live on Long Island New York and after storms it makes me sick to see all the trash on the beaches
I bet NY beach would be a good place to mudlark. Lots of history there. Can you get down to it? Ive only been to the city.
@@mimimitch327 beach is just down the street ,there are alot of beaches on Long Island but the few I have walked are pretty clean, not even close to the mudlarking videos, but I am planning on getting a metal detector.
Those were really nice finds, Si! "Small objects" day, and they're all winners! And I love those bricks... if I were mudlarking across the pond (which I fully intend to do within a year), I would be frantic trying to find a way to get those bricks back to Oregon with me! Lovely that you took time to talk with the liter picker's supervisor and those sweet children. Bravo for giving them some finds for their buckets!

That Victorian pressed brass fastener you found is I think is one half of a ladies suspender clip/fastener (the other half would look the same at the top but instead of the round button, it would have an elongated hole slightly narrower at the bottom to allow the button to pass thru the hole, and trap the top of the stocking before sliding down into the narrower section to hold the stocking in place.

I still wear stockings and that one looked a bit big for normal silk stockings but may have been the type used on girdles or ‘stays’ as my gran called them and were worn by older woman who wore heavy stockings, knitwear type!
Its amazing to me that the little fasteners and pins are still around after all this time . They are so tiny and they still haven't rusted away .
My husband was born in Woodville, near Swadlincote locally known as Wooden Box. His father worked as a labourer carrying pipes and goods to be fired - possibly for Knowles and Co. Love your videos Si. You find some really interesting things.

Love the bricks so much history attached, if I had my way I'd build a garden wall or possibly a brick oven for pizza with them, I wonder if the bricks could handle the heat after all this time, I would think yes, but who knows.

Thank goodness for people in orange suits. That leach was scary, reminds me of the bobbit worm I've found a couple times on the beach only not as scary. AWESOME finds!

Can you imagine what is laying in the mud out in the middle of the river? I would try to find out if the new sewer project will involve the removal of river bed material and if so, where will the tailings be deposited. Also, those bricks would make a fantastic patio!

Your whistle end looks how I thought I remembered my grandfather's cigar mouthpieces looking when I was little in the 1970s, but pics online look different than I remembered. I'm glad you were able to track it down.
Also, you totally made my skin crawl with that leech footage. I like most animals, including most insects, but leeches and ticks are exceptions. Back at uni, I actually got a leech in my bathing suit swimming in a river. *shudder*

Great Video! I like that Harp of Erin button, there weren't many Irish regiments in the British Army, so nice rare find! I've read underwear buttons in 3-hole and 5-hole patterns are 18th century and before and 2-hole and 4-hole are 19th century to now. Cotton thread is stronger than flax thread so the extra hole is unnecessary. That white fire brick you found,.... they lay fire brick in the boilers of ships too! Even in modern times! And two of those musket balls looked cast with the sprue still present, I think lead shrapnel balls were swaged by machine. I wonder how Noggin is holding up? Great video Si, keep 'em coming. 😊

after the fire is gone,,, you can use river rock like this if you make sure they are good an dried out . Á

Perhaps they could tell you where future construction will take place so a team of mudlarkers could go in and pick it over before construction begins.. Great finds and way to encourage the future larkers.
That little brass fastener is exactly like one I saw yesterday on a metal detecting video. Same decoration too . Now wish I could remember which one. Strange to find something like that a day apart. Great video as always.

When you had the broken whistle end in your hand I noticed what looked like a round rock with a line that looked like it went around the center. If that's what I think it could possibly be it might be one of those weird objects they claim to thousands if not millions of years old that people made . Idk if that was one of those things and I have no idea if those things really are what some people claim them to be but they are atleast a cool mystery and if it's not impossible to find that spot again it might be worth going back to check it out.

@@Sifinds lol that would be crazy awesome if it was but no it was one of those things that shows up like if you search unexplained ancient objects (conspiracy theory type of stuff). Supposedly there are these small round objects/rocks people claim have been worked or made by man but have been found in places that supposedly no person has ever been. Sometimes they find them (supposedly lol) in new mine shafts being dug and it would mean that the object would have had to been made thousands if not hundreds of thousands of years before people existed or were using tools. The next time I come across one of those videos I will try and post the title of it for you to see. I'm pretty sure if you search something like top ten unexplained ancient objects you can find a short video with them in it.
You might want to have a close look at that piece of printer's type around the 17:10 mark. I don't know how far these things move or where you are larking but, to my eye, it may not be completely impossible that it is a lowercase "d" or "p" or suchlike from the famous Doves Press that was lost when it was thrown off the Hammersmith Bridge into the river by Cobden-Sanderson in 1916-17. In 2013 a chap named Robert Green managed to fish about 150 pieces out from quite close to the bridge. Perhaps some moved farther? No idea. Anyway, it is a long shot, but amazing lost cultural treasure if it is, and worth investigating. :)

Try to find where the sewer project excavation dirt is being taken to and with permission you could sort through it
nospartsman it goes to tilbury by barge and is being put in landfill and covering eroding old landfill sites. I have walked along tilbury and seen the huge volume of earth and rubble they moved you will never find anything. They took 20,000 tons from Bermondsey alone
