Between these two singers, I call it the storm before the calm. Storm=Roth. Sammy=calm. I'd rather be in the storm of not knowing what's going to happen next, making things exciting and fresh vs. calm, with familiarity and structure. While both singers are unique in their own ways, early VH is so unique and off the rails. I do think Sammy did a good job in VH too, but once again, it seemed more structured, condensed and polished, along with other things these days that are sanitized. I've never smoked at all in my life, but I miss the dinginess of an Arcade with smoke throughout it. The atmosphere of an old familiar friend. That's the VH Roth era.
Not sure what people ever saw in DLR. He isn't a singer . His voice is crap . Barely acceptable he talks his way through with an occasional high pitched scream that gets extremely annoying with each song. He seems to fit in and has some flash in his look but looks have 0 to do with quality vocals . At least Sam can sing. VH Songs are immature and for kids nothing deep or interesting . Good rock songs but they grow old quick.

Thank you for such a succinct and thoughtful reply. Indeed, if it ain’t dangerous, it ain’t rock n roll ;)’. All the best to you!
