I went bikepacking alone in Madeira, known for it's amazing scenery and incredible mountains, as well as the Trans Madeira race. Madeira is an incredibly beautiful part of the world and I can't wait to come back here to explore the North properly!

Thanks for watching my bikepacking film! The bottom bracket has since been replaced for those of you interested haha... 😅
ok, I'm happy about your new bottom bracket, it was a loud noise🤣🤣
Yeah it was annoying me too haha

I wasn’t going to mention it!! That’s not your new Frontier I’m guessing. The old Cooker? But surely it’s cheaper to replace a bottom bracket rather than buy a new bike??😂😂
Haha no this is my old Cannondale Topstone, Sonder Frontier is my MTB and winter beast@@nickforwood
Another great video I like the filming first then the chat. Keep up the good work. Maderia looks great, getting stranded issue I wouldn't be fussed on.
Cheers Mark! Thanks for commenting:) yeah it’s alright when you don’t have to rush back for work or a family wedding so normally I wouldn’t have been too fussed! :)
This showcases some of the fantastic plant life on the island really well. Well done again on the cinematography 👌
Thanks very much :)
Maderia looks an amazing place, not somewhere I'd ever thought about bikepacking to be honest, it certainly does look amazing. Hope you had a good new year buddy...ride safe.
It’s a good one for some late season sun! Thanks for watching :)
Madeira is a tough island, but is beautiful nevertheless. I never cycled there but i had a go in their MIUT (trail running event) and it was awsome despite the tough climbs. As a keen cyclist and a bikepacking fan, i'm planning on doing the old ER101 around the island...
It’s a great place to ride! Wanting to come back myself!
Great video..heard lots of creaking on the bike..is the Bottom Bracket going or was it your knees with all those climbs?
Yeah bottom bracket was shot… had to leave the audio in haha 😛
Is Madeira the remnants of an ancient Atlantis? The island does look great. Do they legally allow wild camping? It is somewhere I would like to see. Is it volcanic? Is it expensive?
Who knows! Wild camping isn’t legal, but like anywhere, it’s about being sensible! I don’t believe it’s volcanic, and it’s sort of middle-expensive really. Not crazy but not cheap :)
Madeira is a volcanic island. It has roughly a few millions years old. Wild camping needs an online permit.
