    It seems like a lot of the so-called elite players (both on the men's and women's side) are a little rusty after the off-court season, whereas those slightly down the rankings have utilized it towards training adequately.
    Big props to Zhu!

      Also, you can't allow your serve to be broken 2x in the 3rd set and expect to win. Sakkari looked gassed out at the end...

    • @light279
      @light279 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It probably has nothing to do with being rusty. Many players in the top fifty or even the top
      hundred can "upset" the top guns on any given day.

    • @FinancialFreebo
      @FinancialFreebo ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@light279 there is sooooo much $$$ at stake in today's professional sports. In golf, you can have a swing coach, short game coach, strength and conditioning coach, dietician, and sports psychologists are HUGE in golf and tennis nowadays. Have you all seen some of the training facility videos for tennis today? If your parents are not millionaires, it will be VERY hard to succeed. So, someone gets loaded up with diet, fitness, training, and confidence, and they are trained to have no respect for the best and go tear them up...

      a lot of lower-ranked players have to play and win 3 qualification matches to get into the main draw, so yes, sometimes they already have some momentum and match practice. Some higher-ranked players might play warm-up tournaments, but if they lose early, they only get 1 or 2 matches before the AO. and if you play well but too close to the Australian Open (like players in Adelaide 2) some of them ended up injured and exhausted before the tournament even starts.

Sakkari has done well with her talent, she is actually a very hard worker and she got to No.3 with a lot of hard work. Regarding logic, how she won the sets doesn''t matter if she would go further. If you did watch the match, it was a very close match, even in the beginning of the second set, but in the second half of it, Zhu just intened to let go the set and prepared for the third one. In the whole match ,Zhu even won more points with less games than Sakkari,100-98. Of course, she doesn't have the ability to slam Sakkari, so what? But I do agree with your that she might won't go further cause I don't think she could beat Vika, who's mentally stronger and technically more balenced. WInning a title like Raducanu? Am I the only one that feels Ladies tennis is just a bore? No improvement at all. Just watched Andy Murray struggling from that gruelling 5 sitter 2 days ago playing against this Spanish guy. Long, beautiful rallies, very enjoyable with skilful tennis then you watch the ladies…
