Pegula is such a role model for other players in terms of her calm and composure, even when under pressure. It’s honestly so refreshing, watching her play

I’d agree with you only if you don’t judge female tennis players for getting frustrated, screaming or express true and honest emotions. If so… then it’s just misogyny and the basic society desire to control how women should act and behave.

@@Smileater nah I do like seeing emotion on the court. I feel like it adds to the moment and the overall entertainment value. I’m just speaking in terms of players who sometimes let their emotions get the better of them and become unable to play

@@Teddy_Gautier you like seeing emotion, then you haven't watched Swiatek nor Ons, nor Raducanu or Coco.

@@Teddy_Gautier plus, the ones who choke more often are the male players: Zverev (double faulting)
      Federer losing matches at 40-15
Nadal running away from Djokovic if not on clay

@@Smileater haha I have, as a matter of fact. I like watching them play, but if you ask me, they strike the perfect balance between showing emotion while still remaining focused. Trevisan or Sabalenka are examples of players whose emotions get the better of them at times. You can look at Fognini or Rublev on the men’s side too

A tidbit: JPEG is the only player in the top 10 that plays single, doubles, and mixed doubles. No time to practice, yet she is winning them all. Amazing!

Welcome to UPSET OPEN 2023 for some well known male and female players. No need to talk about consistency because anyone can win a tennis match. The field is too competitive now in the WTA and ATP.
It goes to show that no matter how consistent you are or are perceived to be based on world rankings, anyone can win a match.
MALES - Félix Auger-Aliassime out, Zverev is out, Rudd out, Berrentini out, Nadal out (although, in my opinion, he has been testing his body too much especially since what happened at French Open 2022 and now he is injured again), Thiem is out, Fritz out, Murray out.
FEMALES: Coco out, Swiatek (World No. 1 is out), Sakkari out (fittest woman on tour, it seems, while Ostapenko who may not appear “fit” is through to the Quarterfinals), Jabeur is out, Anisimova is out (although her game has been off lately), and Keys is out too. Raducanu is also out as well; although, I never expected her to go beyond 3rd round. Krejčíková is also out (Grand Slam singles and multiple doubles Champion).
Don’t blame injury too unless the player got the injury while playing one of his/her matches at the Australian Open.

Ostapenko is 100% fit for her style of play. You’re not going to see someone of her height being a little twig and crushing every groundstroke.

Well coco lost to a former GS semifinal, Ostapenko is not consistent but she can beat anybody on her day. Swiatek lost to Ryabakina,Wimbledon Champion, she's got a game to beat anybody. Keys lost to Azarenka, Krejicikova to Pegula. Felix to Jiri, an up and coming player. If you follow tennis closely, i wouldn't call these upsets. Also, Zverev is still not his best coming from injuring. And it's quarterfinals, only 8 can go through, not 200000000000
