I have been following you for months now after not being able to afford to keep my vocal coach, I cannot express how great my gratitude is for you sharing your knowledge with the world.
Thank you so much for all the videos you have on TH-cam. I've watched lots this past week and begun to apply the vowel exercises and open throat. Tonight at my singing group practice it was the first time ever that I didn't develop a scratchy throat. Didn't need constant sips of water, or need to suck a lozenge. Thanks 👍
Good video. You can only get away with muscling your way thru inefficient singing for so long and then the bill comes due. So many of the singers I admire describe not doing the wrong roles or music too soon or even at all because they wanted to sing for years.
YES, and the opposite is also true! Many of the singers we admire went into vocal decline as they aged due to singing roles that were too big for their voices, resorting to pushing and losing the beauty - all too common.
your website and video you sent has been a great help. thank you.....just love following you..very constructive advice .....My song Smile is sounding so much better my friends say. will send you another video video assessment in the near future .
Really good video..My main issue is not able to maintain my breath support throughout a phrase..I am watching your videos on breath support too..I haven't quite got it down but I am getting there..
Great tips for everyone!♥️ Is it possible to extend our range, with proper technique, a whole octave? Thanks Victoria, best and most enjoyable online teacher🎤👍
A whole octave? Well, I would say it is possible if someone has never explored their head voice and then suddenly finds a whole other part of their voice that allows them to extend into the upper register Otherwise, I think an octave is a lot to hope to add. I would have to hear the singer to have an idea.
Hi, thank you for your videos! Do you do voice lessons with people who have muscle tension dysphonia? I am not a singer, I used to just sing for fun. I am working with a speech pathologist and a massage therapist but have not gotten much better. Do you think voice lessons could be helpful?
I have a question Beginners should do vocal exercises everyday to build the muscle memory; what about the pros, how often does a pro singer do their vocal workout session? What does their training plans looks like? Can they just do simple exercises like humming, sirens etc. to keep their vocal techniques strong? Please give some ideas on how does a pro singer approach their training.
Every singer needs to do exercises to keep the voice in good condition and to continue to grow. What kind of exercises depends on what you need. Sometimes my voice like stops when i speak in low intensity, i think i have nodules , and my throat like gets tired sometimes with like 5 mins of singing . I suspect having Muscle tension dysphonia . But i dont know i m going to check up my voice with an ENT
I've been doctoring with an ENT and speech therapist for several months now. My appointment with the ENT 2 months ago showed small polyps. Singing, whispering, and humming all aggravate them so I stopped for 2 months and at my last appointment they were gone. Do get checked by an ENT. Much of what's in this video are things I've done with my speech therapist, too. Good luck.
We don't hold our breath when we sing. It disperses in a very fine stream with breath support. Supporting the Voice (Breath Support) - CLEARLY & CORRECTLY explained - FINALLY! (VIDEO #12) - th-cam.com/video/WR2772TGrgo/w-d-xo.html
do you have any tips on getting rid of larynx tension ?? is it the same as throat tension ?? because i think my slight larynx tension is the reason for my vocal fatigue.
Without hearing and seeing you, I would say it sounds like general throat tension, BUT it often starts somewhere else. Watch the videos in this playlist: Throat, Tongue, Jaw & Neck Tension in Singing - Free up Your Voice! th-cam.com/play/PLaWjWxiTysDDDSGygoVWRk_IfZeFI71aj.html

Mam. I don't know why my voice get tired after and between my vocal workout and I be soo breathy and my throat gets tired (doing sovt straw exercises) it's happening with me from 2days 😢😢😢😭
Best to rest your voice. Be careful with how you speak too. If it continues, I recommend seeing an ENT doctor (especially laryngologist) to examine your vocal folds.

Victoria, I'm constantly watching how I speak. I can easily fall into my "New York" voice...lol!
You know what’s funny, Bob? Since I started making these video tutorials 2 years ago, my Brooklyn accent has gotten stronger! Lol!

Watch my other videos on throat tension and monitor your progress. Practice in shorter sessions as you eliminate tension and build endurance.

My throat hurts it feels like there's a sand in my throat after singing on a choir
But after a long rest it's sudden goes away?
Check your technique and see what is making your voice tired. Work on improving little by little.
Is there an explanation as to why I get light-headed or somewhat dizzy after hitting a high note?
This happens sometimes to beginning singers and usually improves. Without hearing and seeing you, I will guess that you are probably over-breathing.
