    As an audio engineer and producer I’ve been working with singers in the studio and on stage since 25 years. I guess I know how a dull voice sounds like, but I didn’t know that technique makes such a big difference (I was believing that some people are just born with a great voice or not). I hated my own voice sound, so i never even tried to sing. After watching many TH-cam Videos in german and english, only Victorias advices were “applicable” to me and I could really work out a beautiful voice sound that I am now using as a backing singer live and in the studio. During the practice my voice even developed a nice vibrato (that was the most surprising and encouraging development) Victoria deserves a crown.

    As a music ministry head at my local parish, I am glad I found this video. We are not professional singers but are volunteers who love to serve thru singing at church. The knowledge that you impart in this video will definitely help us improve our singing. Thank you very much for selflessly sharing the talent and knowledge that you have acquired/been given. Know that your kindness and selfless act will benefit a local parish thru( hopefully ) a more refined singers. Wish you were closer to us so we could invite you for a lesson ( free we hope😊 ) as we continue our journey of serving thru music. God Bless

    This has probably been the most life changing video I've watched in my learning to sing journey. For ages I've been struggling to understand why my sound and tone can be so radically different each time I record myself singing a particular song. I can do 10 separate takes, all the notes can be on key (pitch monitor tells me) but they sound completely different and I didn't have a clue as to why. Now I think I know. I've been doing the exercises in this clip, with a mirror, and can absolutely hear the difference the two different mouth positions make. Thank you Victoria for this and all your excellent videos.

    You said the results would be immediate and you were right. I was having trouble with what I interpreted as a tone that was too dark and too round, not quite right for the bluesy tune I was singing. Widening my mouth immediately changed my timbre. Amazing. Thanks.

    And i do try to do everything on my own and have been going around watching must trustable
    vocal coaches on youtube and your video really helped me understand something about
    how should position my mouth, i always found it weird how people sometimes go so wide with their moaths and compare to myself i had mine somwhere around medium wideness

      @@Victoria-Victorious My spelling was horrible still is kind of, So i was watching the Soft Palate should i raise it yes or no video to end up in a playlist to end watching a tongue explantion video to again end up here again... So i took the improvement and changed it to suit me thinking i did something correct which i didn't. So i watched it again to realise something huge and feel like an entire idiot whose clearly never paid attention which i did but made such a huge mistake anyway, Well now i have an idea on how to speak properly *Thank you so much i struggled with this for years up till now i raise my voice loud to combat this issue* never knew that the answer was infront of me the entire time and didn't realise... I really messed up and i actually did share your channel to the people i know who sing and my siblings who where interested and i will pay more attention now then i ever did cause i really don't want to mess this up again. Just like you mentioned in the tongue position video this really is the best explanation on how you take step on learning how to sing.
      I wrote a lot... Hope this makes your day? 😁 I'm so grateful

    Ms.Rapanan, thank you for your clear and helpful videos. I love your energy in every video. Your mixed voice videos are currently helping with my range. One problem I have though is having a clean onset / glottal when I get high into my range or I attempt to sing fortissimo. Any advice?

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thank you for your nice note! Without hearing you, I am assuming that you are going into the squeeze for your onsets in high voice instead of a coordinated onset. I would do some sirens (both spoken and sung) in that part of your voice to see if you can free things up, making sure that you use breath support. I will make a video on onsets.

    So i still watch Victoria's vocal tips for time to time, And i'm very grateful i improved lots and i did see the difference, But there have been thing's i'v been struggling with, Specifically on how to smile correctly and i still wanted to know how to smile while singing so yeah here is how i improved for a while, And later realis that one simple thing i did which made me switch to a different sound to correct myself. Failed me so hard. Basically i kept doing that for a while and came back cause i legit was so confused on what i was doing wrong and figured something out here is what i found
    1:53 Pay close attention to this part people, Don't mess up the mouth even if you cant smile legit doesn't matter just make sure to know the difference between a singing mouth position versus a smile there's a huge difference 😂 i still can't smile correctly but i'll be trying that neutral position trick.
    3:00 So i realised 11 months after watching this video while improving and mistakely messing it up, i wish i knew how important neutral position was... I really wish i knew that cause now i feel like an idiot 😓I always felt this spacious sound you can recreate it by by pushing your lips forward with a normale face in neutral position you can feel a layer of air infront of your teeth while being able to feel the lips for me mostly bellow cause my upper middle lip is lower then the sides... It is like like pushing your lips forward and having air inside of your mouth while being able to take it out of your mouth, By doing this you create so much space in your voice and sing pitchy at times sure you might sing on pitch if you practice tons but you'll never be heard properly, Ever had people say speak up? We cant understand you? THIS IS THE ISSUE! I WISH AND PRAYED 😭 for someday to figure this out, So please pay attention! So after adding the neutral position and removing the air and speaking clear you can record yourself There is a huge difference i tell you THERE IS, But thank god we have Victoria's vocal tips. She isn't lying to ya'll take her seriously

      If your voice is hoarse, I would definitely not sing until you are back to normal. Rest your speaking voice as well, and do not whisper. If prolonged hoarseness, you should be examined by an ENT dr. When your voice returns to normal, make sure to continue working on your technique and good practice habits to remain healthy. I have lots of videos that can help you.

    This is something I still struggle with, thank you for explaining this so clearly!! One question: when you talk about an oval shape, do you go out of your way to shape your lips/mouth in an oval or to drop the jaw low enough to form an oval? When I open my mouth to where it feels 100% natural and completely relaxed I still can't fit two fingers between my teeth and it doesn't look like a true oval, but to open up any further I have to flex/stretch a bit. It's not necessarily tense but it does take effort to open up to a real oval. Is that effort normal? I wonder if I'm just unused to opening up enough. Thanks!!!

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I form a vertical oval shape with my lips/mouth and drop the jaw to the degree that it is comfortable and appropriate for the note. I recommend that you watch my videos on the Open Throat, especially the one that says, “How Open?” You definitely don’t want to over-open.

    What difference does the vertical/horizontal make on the very high range? Is one easier on the body than the other? Thank you!!

    My upper lip is very low which makes my teeth to not show up + harder to open my mouth which causes lack of movement. I also noticed that my tongue position is really closing my throat but can’t really change anything. But tue most problematic thing is my jaw. I definetely can’t move my jaw naturally well. I hope i can find a way to correct the issue. I would even go through jaw surgery if it would correct it.

    Thank you so much, Victoria! I’m in freshman year right now and I want to be a great beginner singer when choir comes back for me, I’m just wondering how could I make a structured singing schedule I can do every day without straining my voice, oh hey that is that a great video idea!
