    So I actually have used black 4.0 myself and the colors you are getting are entirely accurate.
    What I do is I use a black primer and then I have a catch where I can put the pieces in it and then I dip them in the paint which is easier for me to do.
    I really would like to see if there are any more ideas you have about making the paint pop more. Because I've always been trying to get the kind of black that they show in those videos and I can never get it to that level.

      I think those marketing shots are either edited or shot in very specific lighting. When I had the things I painted under my painting lamp they look as they did in the video, but in more normal lighting B4 was pretty dark.

      @@HereticsHeroes I think it might just be the weird camera color correction and trying to get the colors to pop in video causes black 4.0 to make the camera go weird.
      Because I have a photo I shot on my phone that looked like how it's advertised and I was surprised.
      Have you tried any of the other colors?
      I'm just getting into it and I'm making a rainbow line of custodians and sisters of silence using this guys paints, just did black and now waiting for the pink paint to arrive.

      @mommy2471 under normal lighting conditions is does looks almost as black as advertised. I just had an ultra bright lamp on it. I've not used his other paints bu I suspect you might struggle with pigment density on miniatures

    How does B4 look when varnished?

    • @greendragonfly4831

      Wet might be the best adjective. No less black. Musou can crack or redden under varnish but this paint lays flat and holds its shadows superbly. I tend to do a "light as humanly possible" coat of very matte mid gray krylon and let that gas off for 48 hours. Put B4 on with a Sable brush a single coat should do it. Again, let that fully gas off before varnishing or blending paints on your mini.

    I was thinking of picking up a small tube of this stuff to black out the white switch plate of a Ducky RGB keyboard. They use a white plate to make more light shine between the keys. Looks cool on photos, but in person I don't like it at all. Too much glare and distracts from the actual back-lit legends on they keys..
    Do you think this will adhere easily to a (probably glossy) painted metal surface, without running? And will it really absorb enough light to make a difference in this application? Thanks!
    (The switch plate can't be removed without desoldering all the switches and I'm not doing that. This limits prep and also means I need to be careful not to ink up the clear, RGB switches.)

    • @HereticsHeroes
      @HereticsHeroes  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unfortunately I don't think this paint is gonna work well for that application. I'd have serious concerns about the adhesion and durability of the paint on that surface. This is really more of an artist's paint, so for anything that sees regular use it's probably gonna chip or rub off, even with protective varnish.
      One thing you could consider doing is masking off the key switches and hitting it with some sort or black spray primer, as those tend to adhere really well and stand up to abuse.

    • @zackw4941
      @zackw4941 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HereticsHeroes Hmm. The switch plate will never be touched. It's the "interior" of the keyboard below the keys. But if it won't adhere well at all to an already painted surface, that could be a problem. Especially if it runs onto the switches during application..

    How is the resilience of the finish? 2 and 3 were pretty tragically weak

    • @HereticsHeroes
      @HereticsHeroes  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a good question. Haven't really had it long enough to tell but, from a visual and tactile point of view it finishes very similarly to 3, so a good coat of protective varnish is most likely necessary

    • @1minatur
      @1minatur ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn't varnish just eliminate the effect of the black? The point of the "blackest black" is that its surface doesn't reflect much light. Putting a different coating on top of it gives it the properties of the coating

    • @HereticsHeroes
      @HereticsHeroes  ปีที่แล้ว

      @1minatur a super matte varnish shouldn't alter it much. The super black effect is a combination of a super matte finish and the pigment of the paint.

    Is BLACK 4.0 Flat, Matte, Semi Gloss or what and is it 100% acrylic or acrylic latex or acrylic enamel?

    • @HereticsHeroes
      @HereticsHeroes  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's ultra matte. 100% acrylic as far as I'm aware but there are probably full product specs in the website.
