- The new BMW X6 will be with us soon, being launched at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. But this specific one is rather unique - it is covered in Vantablack, the darkest manmade material in the world. Mike Fernie gives us a walkaround of this ultra dark car and discovers the science behind Vantablack's ability to be the blackest of black. Standing for Vertically Aligned Nano Tube Array, this material can make 3D shapes completely disappear which - in the aesthetically-challenged X6's case - isn't too bad a result. Oh, and there was a grenade-proof X5 there too. Enjoy the video!

There was already a video done on this material. It’s too dark for low light environments and sticks out. You would need complete darkness and even then inferred captures the surrounding environments as lighter than this material so it’s not an optional camouflage

@@jefez75 you're right because of all that vantablack on the lights the license plates the mirrors the windows, pretty much all the things on a car other than body panels that reflect light will now be unable to reflect light because the body panels were painted that color. As far as without enough lights any car is hard to see in the dark without enough lights. I had a white Dodge Charger in my garage but with the lights out for all I know it could have been a black workbench or a green ladder.
@Ross dude is not just streetlights though think it if it's driving at night time the lights are on if it's parked at night time and you can't see it even without street lights where the hell are you parked that lights from homes or businesses or passing cars will not reflect off the windows or other reflective surfaces like light lenses or the mirrors?

Cons- you are a target on the road since it’s so hard to see you especially during bad weather, the car would be impossible to keep clean, and with it being such a true black in color you are guaranteed to come back to a 120F car every time you get in it in summer..

As much as it all sounds awesome, especially in day light, my issue would be at night time. If it is that dark and black, (absorbing all the light), then surely you are much more likely to get hit at night time, especially side-on (t-boned)
