"Don't think, just do" is a classic American military training tagline that I've heard a few combat veteran friends of mine use reflexively in their civilian lives, and we started using military training techniques on our police forces years ago. Guessing that phrase just bubbled over as a reflex and then he realized how stupid it sounded in this context... you can tell he kind of froze as soon as you called him out.

But, the guy that got pulled was 100% respectful ... regardless of how many times the officer was WRONG, ignorant himself to California laws, not listening to the driver while he explained to the officer the digital information he received about the guy not having a valid drivers license was incorrect (attempted to explain - he was polite so the officer didn't get it apparently).
Even after being ticketed for stopping in the middle of the road - BECAUSE he initially thought that's what the officer was SCREAMING at him to do - pull over ... THIS GUY still said something NICE about this officer in the end. He was thankful that the officer finally calmed down.

I'm shocked by how many officers still don't understand just the licensing laws in regards to Canadians. They can drive in the US with a valid Canadian driver's license (if 18 or older) while visiting.

I am a software developer that is working with a global company which provides Driver and Vehicle Services to governments from the city to country level. I can tell you that sadly, a lot of the old software systems used for Driver and Vehicle systems are truly archaic and horrible and the users who use them are barely trained. I just had 2 cops yell in my face today. I am still shook up. I literally had two cops, one in each window, yelling at me and yelling over eachother. I had no idea what law I even broke. I was making a left turn in my community a cop was parked on the sidewalk. I thought "okay, no problem. He probably is just pulling someone over. " I drive around his car (my house community has small streets. This was all within my housing tracks) so I had to go over the line to pass the cop car. That's when they screamed at me and said "can't you see this lane is closed? You can't just drive on around it? What's wrong with you???" And the yelling went on and on and on. I looked around and there was NO CONES. No ONE directing traffic. He thought I should know the entrance to my community was closed because of one damn cop car parked on the sidewalk. He came back and said "we were leaving anyways! If you would have waited 2 seconds, you wouldn't have this ticket." He directed me to my home where there was ANOTHER cop car parked down the street. I asked him "there's another cop car parked on the sidewalk. Am I allowed to go around that too?" He ignored me and went to his car. Cop have me a ticket for reckless driving and driving on the wrong side of the road. So many cops abuse their power. Name any other job where you can talk to people like this and actually KEEP your job? I've been in customer service for years. I've had people yell at me, scream and curse.... I have NEVER yelled at anyone. Because that's my freakin job!! We need to hold our police force to higher standards. I've dealt with some amazing cops. And some that truly believe they are God.
