Itz G.I.G. I don't think that's true. He made an effort to befriend the human and his demeanor clearly shows that through the game. He even makes an effort to call you at the end of a neutral run saying good things if you spared everyone.
But obviously when you start killing monsters that's when he doesn't see you as a pal.
I think that San's killing you, WAS the spare. As if giving you one last chance to do a true reset.
You're not supposed to be able to at this point. He wants you to just stop playing the game. That's the only way.

1:52 I think a lot of people misinterpret that line. While Sans could be referring to the multiverse, I think he's referring to the fact that you'll likely Reset after you're done killing everyone and pretend that nothing happened. Sans doesn't remember the Resets, he just knows about them.

i think this means that he does not in fact remember timelines exactly, not the way he is thought to at least. he doesn't remember each and every timeline and what happened though he may have a vague feeling of what may have happened but its no more than all the others, that "de ja vu" feeling that everyone gets when you reset. i think he's just really good at reading your expressions and going by your actions as to what may have happened in a previous timeline. like he said "did i getcha?" he knew what he was gonna do when he decided to "spare" you, and he knew that he would tell you not to come back so he sees how angry you are and just figures you got dunked on in the other timeline. when you reset he will forget all about the genocide (contrary to all the comics and animations) though he may have a vague feeling about you, like he feels that something bad may have happened in the last timeline. he does tell you not to fight his brother though after a genocide run but i think maybe he just has a feeling you did something to his brother so he feels he must tell you that. oh but dont get me wrong i actually really like the idea of him actually having memory of all the timelines like in the fan works, even if it may not really be canon. it does make for some pretty interesting stories and AUs. but i think he is simply aware that you have the ability and can just read you very well to tell what may have happened previously.

I think he definitely can't remember, just is very good at evaluating your actions and facial expressions (and gets deja vu like some other monsters do). It's pretty heavily implied that's the case.

I think it’s an expression for when you come back/start over, sans will be waiting for you again, but since you reset it’s an expression for “other sanses” just being the same sans, cause he knows he’s in a game. When Sans said, " don't tell that to the other Sans-es, ok?" I thought he said that cuz before your Genocide run, Sans actually really cared for you and saw you as a good friend. I mean, in the Pacifist run, you helped Papyrus and all other monsters, that seems like a legitimate reason for sans to like you. You were his hero, and he wants the other Sans-es to be able to hold on to the hope that you will save them.

If we take his dialogue seriously, he was actually sparing you, but he was also sending you back to the title screen. That's why he gets offended when you come back

@@leo0six I don't think deltarune was being made before undertale, toby found some tumblr fanart of card characters like one similar to lancer and clover in 2012 and he wanted to make a game inspired by them (which would become deltarune), but he never actually worked on it I think until after undertale, probably just some basic planning and outlining of the story.

Well, it's probably talking about the timelines sice there's no evidence of he knowing about AUs- Unlike Alphys, who may know about the possibility of "other universes" but doesn't know about resets.

Yea, in my opinion it makes him by far more advanced, smart and powerfull character, than flowy that just remembers it. Also, as game says, he is "weakest monster in the world". One hp, one dmg.. And stats are true, but by manipulating game mechanics (dodge and immunity frames) even tho he is weakest monster, he is the strongest one

if you count all the times players have battled Sans, and consider that it usually takes players 10-15 tries to defeat him (and sometimes alot more), it's safe to say that Sans has a 95% chance of winning this fight.

There's a reason it's called "fanfiction". Plus, sometimes people make mistakes. Maybe he does remember somethings at some point. (Basically a little while after a reload, or a reset, something can trigger the memories from before the reload happened.) But, that's just a simple theory.
@@undervoices7127 I dont remember alot of the game anymore but i have been watching gameplays. Its not that sans remembers past timelines you were in, but just knows you were in those timelines. Like your expression that you've heard all of these things before. He has a (suspected) time machine at the back so he must be aware of the power to reset.
@@kekow176 I know that he's able to read expressions, but there's still a chance that he could potentially remember a bit. Maybe small flashbacks, or bits and pieces. Plus, he and Papyrus are known to just go "screw the 4th wall", so he might know some of the stuff relating to the different routes, from within the actual game files.

BlueRiging 5 year olds can be really smart and impressionable though... my 7 year old sister talks about undertale 24/7 and always has these theories and questions that she asks about when she's playing. I won't let her play genocide but I have a feeling that she still probably knows a lot about it from gamers she watches and just asking me stuff
One does not simply My argument isn't even about that. All I'm saying is my 7-year old sister loves Undertale and she's managed to beat pacifist. I was simply saying that kids can be smart enough to play and understand a game like that. Undertale's technically not rated so whether it was made for teens, kids, adults etc. It hardly matters.
Well here's the thing. The maturity of a 7 year old and a 5 year old is actually quite a bit different though. I know it's might have been a while since you've interacted with small children, but there is a significant difference.

Well, Sans knows that you can save and start from any point you save at, including that when you die, you can just come right back and start over from your save spot. He also knows that you retain your memory, though he can't tell when you restart after dying, he can only assume when you do, like at 1:30, he can tell that he killed you after you selected spare the first time from how angry your guy looks, and he says "I guess that means we never really WERE friends, huh?" since that's what it says after his famous "gettttt dunked on!!!" line when you spare him. He's referring to himself still, there's only one real Sans, but at different times. Like he knows you might go back to a point in the game when he trusted you, so he doesn't want you to break that trust in a former version of himself. It's like your a time traveler, and Sans is the only person who knows that.
