Hard to believe I cleaned my neutral safety switch several years back and forgot about it since. This video did as intended and saved me a bunch of time. Thanks!
Thanks for your feedback boss
It's really good that people are willing to help for free....
Thanks 🙏
Bro you just saved my butt! Thank you! Worked exactly like your video showed, I was stranded in a bad spot.
You're welcome Brantley , thanks for your feedback

Yes sir you are very welcome, thanks for the feedback
Best trick and video I've ever seen on tube. That safety neutral switch intro though! lol
Thanks Jay Kay
Thank you for showing this quick fix for those of us who want to quickly check the starter to see if the starter is good, and to get around having to remove and take apart and clean the Neutral Safety Switch if the Neutral Safety Switch is bad.
I can see taking off the NSS off to get around the starting in gear problem, but I want to do it when I have the time to do it without rushing. To get in there to cut the zip ties, pull the cable, remove and disassemble and clean the NSS, carefully reassemble it, snake the cable back up there, replace the NSS on the Transmission housing and align it and test it on the Jeep. Leaving time to do it all slowly and carefully and fix it if there is a problem (hopefully not).
Nice thanks for your feedback
My saving grace!! Was stuck for a while in a parking lot til i watched this video. Thanks brother!!!
You are very welcome Patrick, I'm so happy that my video help you , thanks for your feedback

Thank you so much!! I really did not know where to go after I changed the starter. Fuses good, starter solenoid good. Started the car with the screwdriver and scared the crap out of myself. Cleaned up the safety neutral switch and started right up. Thanks again.
Lmao thanks for your feedback boss

Great vid mate. Thx for sharing. I can't believe that switch cost that much
Yes sir you're welcome ,
THANKS VERY MUCH MAN VERY USEFULL..!! THANK YOU THANK YOU
Your welcome boss ,, thanks for your feed back
Great video man
Hi. Thanks a million for the great tip. Automobile Association said it was the starter, garages said it was the starter, but the car started fine when I connected the terminals for a moment. Great. I think your switch idea is great. I'm not sure whether I'll manage that.
Oh thanks , yes I'm sure you can do it is very easy , thanks for your feedback and I'm so glad that
One of my video help you out
@@nestorautorepair Cutting the tie wraps proved to be the worst of the disassembling. The NSS isn't in the easiest of places, but it's workable. Of the 3 tie wraps that hold the cable in place, 2 seem impossible to reach. Certainly impossible to attach new ones when assembling.
What Is the reason you didn't make a short cut in the connector so the car would always start?
I see they did not want to add new parts
Ok
Great video. Thans for the help.
You're welcome boss, thanks for the feedback
Very helpful, it's happened to me 2 times called tow. Truck to mechanics
Thanks Don bliss
I swapped a starter and was still dead one click with interior lights. Screwdriver started it uo and saved me from gettibg towed in a parking lot. Thanks so much man. Starter was really weak anyways. Ill see how long this 65$ chinese one lasts.
Thanks for your feedback boss good luck with the china made lol
Having the same issue on my ZJ. What kind of wire did you use? Also did you run the wire through the fire wall or car side panels?
Hi,, I run it through the fire wall ,, you can use some good speaker wires
Bruh you possibly saved my day. Thanks.
Thanks boss
@@nestorautorepairand you were right. Heading to the auto part store for a replacement starter.
Mmmm sweet thanks for your feedback
Magic bro. Big time thank you sir..,
You're welcome. Thanks for your feedback
Man. You’re a life saver god bless you 🙏
So by using that wire and the push button did you bypass the neutral safety switch sensor or did you have to replace the nss as well ?
You don't need to replace it , just remember that the jeep will star on any gear that's the point of the neutral switch so you can only start it on P and N, but with this bypass it will star on PRND
thanks I was able to solve it Katy tx 09/10/2022
Thanks. It worked
Totally useful!
great fix thanks
Thanks boss
Thanks man!
Your welcome
What 30 amp fuse is that for?
Is it normal for it to spark bad and at the battery
What would you suggest if I touch the terminals and get absolutely nothing?
Great video btw!
Bad starter then ,, thanks boss
I like this Mr. Nestor, I think this is the way I need to go & just not deal with the NSS ... Thank You Sir ,, But will it start in any gear ?? Should I be aware of that?? Danny in Texas...
Yes it will start in any gear be careful sir
Thank you brother Nestor, I installed the switch system last week. I went to the auto parts store and found exactly what you were using, a good quality push button starter switch.
I used a 20 amp in line fuse to protect the circuit. So far everything is working perfectly, now I need to find a good mounting place for it in the dash somewhere.
Anyway thank you for your video and your safety cautions about the vehicle now starting in any gear, I'll be careful.
Stay blessed Sir, and keep safe.
Thank you brother
You’re welcome.. Thanks bro for your feedback
Does this diognosis only work with the switch out of the Jeep?
No you can just leave it in there don't touch it
So I actually have the same issue and exactly what you did made it start so if I were to switch that specific part would I have to add the switch like you did in order for it to start regularly again ?
No if you get the new part that I show neutral safety switch you be good
Thank you so much already 200$ in to the issue and that was the whole fix YOU’RE AWESOME MAN !
Thanks boss . I really appreciate your good feedback
So just to make sure if it doesn’t crank when you do this the starter is bad right?
Yes
GOOD VIDEO.
Thanks
Bro I have 2007 commander it runs great but when drive it for 30 to 45 minutes and stop for a couple minutes at the store. Then I try to crank it, I feels like it's going to turn on ,all the lights are on it doesn't want to trun on. It turns on when it cools down I think. I have talked to friends with that have the same car they also have the same problem.
Question doest the car turn over like it will crank but don't start ? Untill it cool down ?
Will this get the engine light on during this issues?
No
Touchs with a screw driver at desame time...the small terminal and the big terminal on the top..?
Yes
That did that to me a few times so I rigged up a push button on a old extension cord and put clamps on the end so I can clamp it to the contacts and start it i still don’t know why it randomly does it though only sometimes
Bad ground some where
Thank you so much for this video ,bro you just save my ass !!
You're welcome boss , thanks for your feedback
So you took it out and then started right up like you shown right? I just tried todo the screwdriver trick and it does turn but no fire up.
Then your starter is bad , make sure you have power there at the starter
@@nestorautorepair it definitely has power and the starter isn’t bad I got it tested way before I found your video.
Then put the car in neutral
95 jeep Cherokee I’m having interior lights and radio working but no crank if I turn the key to start it ..nothing but if I sit in my jeep with the radio on for 10 min it will then start up almost like it’s charging something to start..
Two important components should’ve been checked: The starter fuse and/or the starter relay.
Ok
couldn’t stop watchin the intro😭🤣
Nice!!
genius
Thanks boss
I tried it it cranked 👍 but when i whent to try it again, the flat head trick it wont spark or crank any more. Did i blow a fuse?
More likely yes
I'm having this problem with my Jeep. But it happens intermittently. I'll go weeks and everything will be fine and then boom it won't start. I let it sit for about 10 minutes and it will start. I've changed the battery cables and it's a new starter and it's the same issue. Have you ever had the neutral starter switch fail intermittently?
Some time this will happen yes on and off and next thing you know it will never start again
Ok. Thanks. How can you tell if it's the neutral safety switch or if it's the ignition switch in the column?
With a tester at the inigtion wires see if it send power when you turn the key
Hopefully this will help for me I’m working on mine on this date July 18 2022
Good let me know
@@nestorautorepair didn’t run😥
How to do this if the it’s 2000 where the starter is different
This will be the same ,, al the stater on every car has 3 wire
So I did the push button for a while but finally got around to replacing the nss and it still doesn’t start with just the ignition
Then your problem was not the nss, is your key
It’s neither it’s a faulty ecm
Ok thanks for sharing
There’s a spark but no start? It doesn’t crank when I turn the key and screwdriver is down there, but while screwdriver is down there it sparks? What does this mean
Soun like you need gas
What happens if theres a spark but nothing happens ? Is it the starter ? The information isnt really clear otherwise becsuse i just switch my nss
Where is the spark at the starter ?
@@nestorautorepair by the screws in the front right where it is in the video, I banged on the starter and made it work again it but I definitely need to replace it
Yes the starter is bad then
Hi, I did this to 1996 Jeep Cherokee , touching the starter , it sparks. Car cranks but no start. New starter, new battery, new alternator, new coil/plugs.
Ok how about with the key ? The jeep crank ?
Hey man so i have the same issue but mine is a manual
In your case it can be the clutch switch bro
I just replaced my starter, battery and alternator but I had no spark
Was the Jeep working good before you did all this work ?
Coil and crank position sensor are two possibilities..
Or jump the relay in engine bay
Sure
turn key on put gear selector in neutral start with key
Yes same fix newtral safety switch is bad
I get no lights on the inside , no crank ?
Main fuse
@@nestorautorepair no it’s ok ! I think the mice ate a power supply
Wow ok
Thanks bro. Life saver haha
Safety neutrai switch
I just bypassed it.
Good
i tried the screwdriver trick and the starter just clicks still :(
Starter is bad
@@nestorautorepair it was the starter 😂👍🏼 ty !
I don't have an automatic.
Your fix will be the clutch pedal is off or bad
I have a 1988. Either it doesn't have a clutch switch, or it's been bad without affecting the starter. (I've been able to turn the engine over with it in gear and my foot off the clutch pedal.)
Try to start it like I did
Thats crank position sensor
Ok
Can I brick the clutch in and do that? XD
Yes make sure is not on gear
@@nestorautorepair Legend Thank you brother.
