To be honest, it's very sad to see Maddie beating her chest. She started doing it the very first of the inforces, and she does it with a smile. Maddie believes that Caitlyn and Ambessa will do everything right and there will be peace for everyone. It's just that she's never seen a real war.
Hands down my favorite Caitlyn scene in the whole show so far and one of the best scenes of this act. The music, the flashback reveal of Ambessa setting up the false flag attack, the chest thumping. Absolute chills.
Then when Cait walks up and Ambessa drapes her in her new cape, they cut the thumping until she turns around and she and we notice they’re still chest thumping. And in one final pound, Caitlyn accepts the title.
It wasn't a false flag attack. A false flag would've been if Ambessa's troops staged the attack posing as Renni's men. They tipped Renni off and set her up, but it was still a legitimate attack that she perpetrated against Piltover.

A desperate Noxian and a hate driven officer protecting a high and mighty city from the underworld. One can only guess how well that will go later in the season.
1:19-1:23 This is the best part of the scene to me. The swift change from the Caitlyn to Ambessa. Two woman driven and motivated by revenge for their lost family members. The pause before she says “ Come child. “ is superb. You can visualize them locking eyes in this moment. Caitlyn knowing what she wants to do both for herself and the city. Ambessa knowing what NEEDS to do to move her own plans forward. Then with just two words she brings her right along the path of revenge with her. Not in a demanding or harsh tone but a softer one. Just true manipulation in every sense of the word. Then the swift cut back to Caitlyn furrowing her brow and taking that true first step on her revenge tour. Holy shit this season is gonna be crazy! 👏🏾

So. Noxus may be rolling up on their doorstep by the end of the season. Apparently Ambessa is doing all this independently of Noxus. And going by the amount of black birds id say Swain has been keeping an eye on her. The one who kidnapped Mel is a Noxus associated Champ named Le Blanc. Swain or as he was once known as the Crow Man by the old player base before his overhaul. Is the emperor of Noxus with untold and unmatched power. These are the two people you really dont wanna piss off. Its actually theorized that Medardas son crossed Swain or the other champs in Noxus and was forced to flee. Now Swain wouldnt bother going himself. Hed probably send either Sion, Draven or someone else that wouldnt hesitate to raise the entire nation or Piltover to the fucking ground. Its terrifying to think thats how everyone meets a Noxus Champion. Bc overall? Medarda is the most reasonable of them all.
actually swain is not in power at the time of the show nor does he control the black rose at the moment it should be Boram Darkwill who is the black roses puppet and the guy that leads the ionian invasion.

So much of this situation feels like a double edged sword. Caitlyn being elected as general should be a great honor, but everyone looks at her with the same shock as if she were accused of a crime. Hell, that's how Caitlyn herself reacts. Ambessa's stance at 0:27 is captivating. She is drumming out of respect. But with the angle she is standing at, it looks like she's physically ushering Caitlyn by her side.
Or drumming to pressure her. I mean Cait hasn't done anything remarkable by Noxian standards. Caitlyn looks like she wasn't even sure until the rest of the Enforcers drummed with the Noxians. It's like suddenly getting nominated by a teacher as class president and everybody's on board with it and you can't do anything about it lol. I'm excited to see how Caitlyn responds under pressure.
@pvrc1030 That's what I think btw, what could she say? With everyone drumming on their chests and looking at her... she always lived with the expectations of doing what was "right" and then what could she do in this scene? Reject and become a betrayer of Piltover and ruin her family ? she knows the weight of rejecting and accepting and has no choice for either
Silco to Jinx at the end of Season 1 Act 1: We will show them. We will show them all. Ambessa to Cait at the end of Season 2 Act 1: Your mother will have justice. I swear it. Interesting how both Acts end with a girl falling pray to a powerful and dangerous figures manipulations. Caitlyn's journey into the darkness promises to be one of the best arcs this season.
Act 2 just came out, interested what your thoughts on Caitlyn are now? The show kind of just montaged the whole Piltover invasion thing which honestly I'm not a big fan of. This scene was kind of hyping up a big, brutal invasion of the Undercity but all we really see are a few flashes of people getting arrested and a checkpoint. It didn't really feel like Topside launched a full-scale invasion...just increased the number of patrols there. I was expecting something more like the intro scene to S1 Act 1 with the enforcers and noxians vs some resistance members killing each other with civilians caught in the cross-fire. I felt like the writers got cold-feet with the direction Caitlyn's character was going and tried to pump the brakes on her being a ruthless dictator out for revenge. Hell (spoilers for Ep6) the moment she meets Vi again they immediately make amends and team up. Caitlyn even willingly works alongside Jinx.
Before S2, my initial theory was that everyone in the council would die except for Jayce, and Ambessa would use it to convince Jayce to go to war, being the main driver the grief for losing Mel. Now, I realize I was wrong but this is brilliant too. We were given way too many hints before this scene that Ambessa would appoint Cait. If you pay attention to previous chapters, Ambessa is always looking at her, and probably she fully decided when Cait showed the full determination to not propose, but impose to the council the raid plan to the under city. She likely saw grief and thirst for revenge in her eyes, and Ambessa likely thought she's the perfect candidate: A reason to stay in power, a fully committed to an objective soldier, and a weak point she can exploit on to manipulate her to her will (her grief for her mother), and with Jayce MIA and Mel kidnapped, there's nobody to stop this from happening, since the only council members left are the 2 that never had a major posture, and the local cuisine that is also heavily manipulated by Ambessa.
Maddie is too innocent for this, she just wants to serve for the good of Piltover. Steb is still in doubt but he'll follow Caitlyn and Maddie wherever they go. While Loris is experienced in all this and can smell a twisted plan, that's why he left.
i’m thinking about this scene compared to the scene where we see viktor turned messiah. we have one character, viktor healing a man from his ailments, seeing him harness his newfound power (from fusing with hexcore) to help his people in Zaun, underground. there is a small audience of impoverished victims of shimmer, ready to follow Viktor-turned-savior. then we have the other character, Caitlyn, who after witnessing her mother get killed, decided to cut ties with Vi and step into her newfound power to protect her people in Topside, above ground. there is large audience of wealthy family households and military personnel ready to follow Caitlyn-turned-dictator. these two powers are different. one was acquired accidentally through experimentation and happenstance (to save Viktor’s life) while the other one was inherited through revealed family secrets and manipulated anger/grief channeled through revenge (to protect Ambessa’s interest and encourage Caitlyn’s revenge)
@@Valeyardos lmao yeah Caitlyn deciding to get in bed with someone else immediately after her argument with Vi was a bit much. There was barely any chemistry between them and their relationship seemed more like naive rookie cop and badass veteran rather than anything romantic. Also kinda pushing the envelope with her character. I get she had become more hardened and her desire for revenge was starting to make her hateful but I still really can't picture her going off and just banging another person.
vi gets both her parents killed by enforcers but continues not to revenge and even help enforcers. cait gets one parent killed by jinx and is already trying to wage war against the entirety of zaun.
Vi in the early parts of the show is very hateful towards anything Piltover and very clearly would enjoy getting revenge against them. However, as the show progressed her hateful view towards Piltover starts to chip away as she's forced to work with Caitlyn, who at that point was an enforcer. On the other hand, Caitlyn looses her mother during the bombing and then has her memorial ruined by a terrorist attack by the chembarroness not a day a part. Even then she recognises that Jinx is the real problem and instead of waging all-out-war with the Undercity she forms and a strike team. The strike team is successful in neutralising most of the Undercity's organised crime syndicates but fails in capturing/killing Jinx because Vi stops her. This is what pushes her over the edge. Vi had time to reflect, heal and forgive Piltover for what they had done to her and her family. Vi had Vander to tell her to prioritise her family over revenge and Caitlyn to show her that while the Piltover *government * was their oppressor, there were still good people Topside. Caitlyn does not have time. Her mother's death followed by 2 terrorist attacks (memorial and the grey vent re-route), her desire for justice turning into a lust for revenge and the pressure of filling her mother's shoes as a council member during a time of crisis causes her to have tunnel vision.
Man guys when I tell you this scene had aura covered all over it. It had aura. To me the way Caitlyn’s cape billowed in the wind for a brief second was all it needed to show what we’re in store for.

Excited to see Darius and Draven
Darius should be the one to end it
@@darius8214bruv we have darius in arcane it's gonna take the whole arcane cast to fight the fucker and hell probably still be standing coz he's been fed by the top laner 🤣
Which black birds? If you're talking about the ones in the first season, those were crows, not ravens (which are associated with Swain).
from cupcake to commander to cupcake again
Early game Caitlyn be like

Can't wait for caits "dictator arc" to be much more tame than people think, then are left wondering why they were even scared in the first place lmao.

I get why. This... this was power
Music, cinematography, visual art, expressions, masterpiece.
Scene somehow reminded me of Maximus' final scene in Fallout season 1. Reluctant yet willing and fully aware of the horrors to come
Ambessa is working this city over from both sides. Grinding them together for weapons development. Incredible.
She is warfare incarnate
@@Tbear995 I haven't seen the latest episode. Noxians are brutal and militant but also not dumb. They're devious.

The OST for this scene is a banger.
Caitlyn went from bottom 10 to top 5 favorite characters.
This is top notch writing
This is my fav scene in all Act 1.
forget about therapy, become a military dictator and take away human rights from your enemies.
I love this background music 🎶
Caitlyn: Enforcers!!! Rise up!!!
I love the way cait walks by her and looks at the city view she’s looked at a few other times in the series first before turning around to accept
“So deep in piltover’s pockets, I can only see her hat”
i’m thinking about this scene compared to the scene where we see viktor turned messiah. we have one character, viktor healing a man from his ailments, seeing him harness his newfound power (from fusing with hexcore) to help his people in Zaun, underground. there is a small audience of impoverished victims of shimmer, ready to follow Viktor-turned-savior. then we have the other character, Caitlyn, who after witnessing her mother get killed, decided to cut ties with Vi and step into her newfound power to protect her people in Topside, above ground. there is large audience of wealthy family households and military personnel ready to follow Caitlyn-turned-dictator. these two powers are different. one was acquired accidentally through experimentation and happenstance (to save Viktor’s life) while the other one was inherited through revealed family secrets and manipulated anger/grief channeled through revenge (to protect Ambessa’s interest and encourage Caitlyn’s revenge)
coming from act 2, pls give cait a chance
I was shocked at the first scene of episode 4. I started to hate Caitlyn.
I must say Ambessa looks stunning in this scene
vi gets both her parents killed by enforcers but continues not to revenge and even help enforcers. cait gets one parent killed by jinx and is already trying to wage war against the entirety of zaun.

The Noxion salute reminds me a lot of the Sontarans doing their "Sontar HA!" chant. Am I the only one who thinks that?
Heh, didn’t expect a fellow DW fan here, but nice.(also I agree)
You can see how Cait didn't want to do it, but then Darth Maddie gave the signal to take the deal, and it was decided
