Hello again! I have now made this waistcoat for my dad (95) and now making for my father in law (91). Now, as you can see, I also have one - LOVE IT! but also a great one for older gentleman who just want to keep cozy. It does NOT look like ladies' waistcoat (made sure buttons were on the correct side!) - just thank you again, Carrie for this wonderful inspiration for lovely older men in my life xx (I used to be MadamC, but my TH-cam went all weird and had to create new account) x
I have just finished this wonderful waistcoat/vest. It is far lovelier than I imagined it would be. I used the 5mm hook, so it is very thick (perfect for days like today). Also, I made it in XL but ended up doing more decreases along the armhole - as I have fairly narrow shoulders and without doing this, the shoulders stuck out too far). Anyway, just wanted to say how very pleased I am and thank you x
Me again! I have just adapted this wonderful patter in bulky yarn for super thick gilet. Stitch used was sc and hdc. I have used one of my originals of this pattern for measurements. It has worked out wonderfully on 12mm hook - thick and fab for chilly evenings about to start. Love waistcoats because cardigan sleeves can get in the way - this is a true body warmer. Thank you Carrie for the inspiration - couldn;t have done it without you xx
Fabulous Gilet - great fit, very practical but so stylish. Great for walking dogs - or just keeping warm at home without baggy sleeves of jumpers getting in the way of washing up, etc xxx Thank you x
I love this pattern and will begin it soon. The small bust size is 42, and that's quite large for the petite woman I am making it for. How would I make this smaller? Bust size is 36. Thank you for the pattern, and especially the thorough tutorial. It's a very lovely vest!
In the written pattern- you have decreased on both sides of the front panels- just like the back panel. I do not believe that was your intention LOL. Might want to correct that. As always, your work is awesome and I so appreciate your sharing your patterns! Thank you!
Hi Carrie. Love this as does my niece 😂 so I have started making her one - was wondering if I could add arms in the same way as your other tutorials by laying out the vest and matching the center of a separately crocheted sleeve to the shoulder seam … 😊😊 hoping this will work 🤞🏻🤞🏻
What stitch do you use to check the gauge? I am using a #4 yarn but am getting too many stitches and rows using a single crochet stitch even with a J hook. I even did a search with an I hook and J hook in the pattern stitch and got too many stitches/rows. Don't know how the author of this pattern used a 5.0 hook as someone mentioned for the small size. Thanks in advance for suggestions.
Hey Wonderful simple design. I 'm very very beginner how much time it took you to complete? & what you say how much time it will take for beginners to make it?
ha ha, yes. I watched video and then went by my pattern. I am actually using a 5mm hook. I know my vest won't be flowing BUT, actually, it is PERFECT and thick for this weather. I am between large and XL but did the first few rows and measured up against a padded gilet I have and stuck with the XL stitch count x
Could you please tell me how to decrease front panels? I could't work it out ( have read the pattern ) as you only decrease one side unlike back panels. I 'm baffled. Thanks in advance.
@MeSlavka 13 stitches then do that for 63 rows and you have the bottom band of the back panel. Then turn the band and start the stitches across the band. 63 of them for the small size
DOES ANYONE KNOW?? For the written pattern, are sized like women's sizes or unisex? I'm trying to make this for my dad and he usually wears Large, but is the pattern to fit a lady only? Should I make the XL instead? 🥲🥲🥲
@@marie-dominiqueryckmanns2473 not really, I think I tried looking at measurements, but just decided to go for the XL since I figured it'll be better if it fits him oversized instead of too small 🥲

Isn't that how your supposed to do the pattern? She said to decrease the front the same as the back.
If you didn't decrease them the same, they wouldn't match up.
Thanks for sharing this pattern. Want to make this for XL size, how many chains should be in the back panel & the front panel? Thanks.
Just love this gilet on the hook at the moment. I've made a few of your creations Carrie and everybody admires them. Thank you!
So nice! Would make an awesome cardigan!
Can anyone tell me what stitch they used to check the gauge for this vest? Gauge and tension matters ....many thanks.
I love wearing a vest in winter. Keeps my back nice and warm. Thank you for sharing this.🇨🇦
Lovely! Christmas present sorted! Couldn’t be happier!

Hi Hey, thank you for the pattern 😊
I used different colour yarns. The stitches are beautiful. How to send pics to you?🤔
It is nearly impossible to find a vest pattern that isn't all mucked up with 'stuff'. Thank you so much for this pattern.
Ms. Carrie, I have some beautiful category 4 bamboo blend yarn. Im wondering if it would work well for this pattern
Thank you for sharing the video. Do you have any adult poncho video's? If not could you make one?
Hi Carrie , missed your tutorials...l would like a calf length vest ( sleeve less cardi)
Very, very nice! Subtle yet chic ❤
Wow 👌 very beautiful sweater design is 👍👍

Love this! Can't wait to fi ish some other projects to make this for me! Or, will I wait?!
Ohh thank you been waiting for something like this 🤗. Can't wait to make it.

Hey
Wonderful simple design. I 'm very very beginner how much time it took you to complete? & what you say how much time it will take for beginners to make it?
Love it!
Really wish you showed how to make the front as it isn’t exactly like the back as you don’t decrease on one side. Not beginner friendly imo.
yesss i agree 😢
Thank you
Lovely design ❤️ I have a quick question about the hook size? On the video you have a 5.5mm down but on the written pattern it says 5mm? Thank you
ha ha, yes. I watched video and then went by my pattern. I am actually using a 5mm hook. I know my vest won't be flowing BUT, actually, it is PERFECT and thick for this weather. I love it xxx great vest xx thanks for all your great videos xxx
☺☺☺☺

what is the measurement of the back panel?
What to do with size medium
👌🏻😃💓
I’m so sorry but I got confused a little… when you started, was that the back panel you were crocheting or the front hand panel?
Me too, 13 stiches for back panel?
@MeSlavka 13 stitches then do that for 63 rows and you have the bottom band of the back panel. Then turn the band and start the stitches across the band. 63 of them for the small size

Turkish subtitles please. Thanks 👏
It’s lovely, thanks for the tutorial - added to my “to do” list 👍x
Thank you so much
Hello I would love to try this, how many stitches would I need for a size 16/18 ? X
For some reason this is not playing

Did you get an answer? I would love to make a size M-L for my boyfriend and have the same questions 🙂

Carrie, this vest is gorgeous & it looks great on you!!🤗😍
