- AVOID These Guys in Luxor, Egypt! I loved my entire time in Egypt, but for some reason during my time in Luxor I ran into so many touts, that it really made my entire trip there feel like it was never going to end. I was constantly followed and no matter how many times I said No, they wouldn't take no for an answer. I really hope this changes, but sadly I don't think it will.

Let's hope that one day they actually do something about the touts or else I agree people will in fact stop coming to Egypt sadly.
For all you saying "why are you so kind to them".... I'm not, just smart. I'm not about to talk 💩 to someone, in their own country, by myself, where I don't even know the language... just think about how fast your life can change anywhere like that if you happen to do it to the wrong person... move smart. 🙏🏻
its amazing you kept your composure around them, alot of times i start screaming when someone is this annoying and litteraly glued to you , ur a good person chris i wish you the best
The poverty has done this to them..people in this area have large families. Food is expensive..so is rent..people are fighting to survive. My bro wemt in 2007..he experienced none of this. Good to have some compassion and understanding. Ruling elite doesnt care..neither about the tourists or the poor.
Dear Chris
The problem is that you are so nice with those people. Here is a tip for you, do not respond to them , even don't say no to them, just please ignore them as if they are not there, don't even say thank you
Just ignore them
Be safe bro 💯💯💯💯🙏😀
Hello best Chris , just a little advice for you! Did you know that you can changed one dollar to 70 Egyptian pounds not 30 ?? The real exchange price is 70 today in the market.
Went there a few years ago. The monuments, temples and sights are incredible, but the constant harassing nearly ruins the trip... unbearable.
I feel the same way.
Every video you've shown here about Egypt has really put me off going to that country.
Those guys disrespect us the Egyptians and our country Egypt alongside with disrespecting tourists. WE ARE SOO SORRY>>>> They do not represent 1% of us
Totally agree, I feel the same way, is not calling me going there when you get harassment every corner. Omg
Hard pass on the rude Egyptians.
@@adrix89 because my impression changed from day 2 to Day 9 in Egypt 🤣 dude you're such a loser, you only watch to leave negative comments 🤣💪🏻
Yeah not a place for everyone sadly!
Chris wins the award for kindest and most patient person lol
No man not at all, just not about to talk 💩 to the wrong person, in a random part of Africa that I've never been to and end up in the damn river lmao patience can save your life, I've heard them stories man. 😅
No, but seriously..I second that.
Literally
Or the most unwise
I think I would lose my s**t constantly getting harassed by these touts, no means NO.
Absolutely, but you always have to sit back and realize where you're at... I was in the middle of town in an African country that I know not a damn thing about minus my few days here... imagine talking 💩 to the wrong person and ending up in the river the next morning... that's reality
@@Travelwithchris Say " Laa Shokran" and thats it Don't say anything else and walk away.
Just pretend you are deaf
@adambrady7742 when i walked around solo i put my noise canceling head phones in and was great hahaha
Maybe the best way to deal with these guys is to completely ignore them and don't even acknowledge them. Don't even say no to them.
It’s disgusting how disrespectful people are after you kindly tell them no thank you and they keep pushing your buttons while you are trying to enjoy the country.
That's the way it has been in Egypt for many many decades. Visitors just have to accept it should they want to see that country's attractions.
They have no respect in their dna unfortunately. Plus its all a lesson about bounderies. They lack them and its important to be very firm and just " push" them off. Its no other way. ❤️
I've found that knowing the word no in people's local language is very powerful. They will view you as more of a human instead of a walking wallet
Those guys disrespect us the Egyptians and our country Egypt alongside with disrespecting tourists. WE ARE SOO SORRY
Yes I agree. It's terrible, I hope it were to end or police would fine these people. It's ruining the tourism industry and all the kind people are paying the price.
I hope the Egyptian government will think about it, because the number of tourists will still decrease
It is amazing how patient you were with the carriage guy.
very simple ignore them, including the carriage drivers who are not the flavour of the week ,some of them mistreat there horses, ignore them
Chris: Here are my tips for dealing with the touts. 1) Wear a headset and pretend you are on a call. 2) Speak to the tout in a language they do not know. I usually speak Thai in the middle east. 3) This is my favorite. Ask to borrow some money from them.
I do have to remind myself how deep the poverty is for people to be so insistent. I am loving your Egypt series Chris!
The hustle is real, and I don't think I'd be as calm and execute such patience as you. Thanks for always bringing us great videos. 👍
Out of all the places youve been Chris, Egypt is the only place i wouldnt set foot in, Id end up in prison with the amount of annoying people on the streets, thats the one thing i cant tolerate is people not taking no for an answer, and to be honest theres nothing really nice about it, yes the Nile is beautiful to look at, but theres not much else to interest me for a holiday...love your videos Chris
Chris, thank you for sharing your videos! I am learning so much about personalities and how to deal with people with different attitudes while keeping your cool and smile 😃
this series has been very entertaining! thank you for making it
I love watching how you interact with these folks. Also, I really applaud you for how you remain so respectful in times where others may not be able to. This was another very entertaining video, Chris. Thanks!!
💯💯💯💯💯✅👍
@@MikePhoTravelVlogs you got yourself a new sub Mike. Can’t wait to dig into your vids too! Love this! 🙏🏼❤️
Well, he also drops money, otherwise it would be quite different! The smile is also for sale!
No body is more kind than you, I am really sorry for you facing this kind of bad situations, thank you man for your patience on us, you got my heart and I wish I could meet you some day. Best regards from Menoufia governorate, Egypt.
Me & my gf were constantly getting harassed during our Egypt trip, especially in Luxor. The best thing to do is to not acknowledge them, it’s better to stay silent with these type of people
My tactic has always been to ignore touts, eventually they stop talking and move on, Chris is just too kind lol
You keep your patience very well Chris! It becomes harassment after a while of them constantly following you and asking. I am sorry you had to deal with that!
Thank you brother Chris!
Congratulations, you are about to hit 400k subscribers. This channel is going to hit millions.
I love the tour, it’s inspiring but I don’t have patience to constantly be hounded. It probably would have ruined my trip. Kudos to you 😂
Keep up the great content Bro Chris definitely amazing city😊
Thank you ! After watching your video I will never even think about going to Egypt 🙏
🤣🤣🤣
Loving this series👍🤙
I am so happy to hear that you will not be doing anymore donkey or horse rides - also elephant rides in Thailand etc.
Anyways I look forward to watch this video, great architecture, the nile and to watch you experience stuff there. Take care, stay safe and keep on smiling Chris ❤️🌴✌️
U deal with these guys so well Chris much respect ❤ I’m not sure I could handle being harassed constantly
Love your videos man. You inspire me to one day travel the world myself
Thanks so much! You definitely got to get out there and see the world!
Very nice vids - thanks for all the pieces of advice.
I really enjoyd the video Chris!, 🤣💙👊
Looking forward to watching this 💙💙
I hope you will enjoy it!
This is the only reason I don't like going to countries like this! They hound you and get very angry when you say no! I have to say you handled everything very patiently and even you knew that they were charging you more, you went along with it. Credit to you bro!
I had anxiety for you, watching the harassment you had to endure after kindly saying no more than enough times.
Its frustrating to watch knowing that you get so many amazing encounters with kind and generous people, this gets overshadowed by some of the bad experiences no matter where you travel in the world.
Respect goes a long way! well done to you for keeping it calm and assertive, love watching your videos cant wait to see whats next in Egypt.
What a Good video Chris. Saludos ✌
Another great video. As someone interested in traveling to the area, but with less charisma points than you, I wonder if there is a more effective way of saying “no”. What a beautiful part of the world. The Nile cruise situation was especislly fortuitous, bro!!!
Speak in a made up language 😂
It was very entertaining watching your interaction with the two shopkeepers. It was pretty fun. The only way that I think you could avoid being harassed for buggy rides, camel rides, tours, etc. is being on a tour but it does take away some of the fun when you want to be alone but in your other video you talked about how they were just trying to make a living and then you see what it’s like. Once you get a rest after rest after harassed gets old after a while quick even as patient as you are you got tired of it. I like your videos very much. I just wish for someone wanting to go over there that you would talk to little bit more about the logistics like how you got from point a to point B you start your day especially if you wanted to do a little bit of this on your own without the tour, the logistics is very useful, very helpful for someone wanting to navigate the tour on their own
He bought a gift for 180 and he know it is only worth 60 pounds and I'm sure it is only for 30 pounds or less
He only did this to make their day
Chris you are a very kind man ❤
Just subbed, because sir you have the patience that I will never have. Stay classy braddah , aloha from the 808.
Thanks, Chris for the adventure video,
“O” my goodness you are awesome patient humankind.
Never think to travel to Egypt 🇪🇬.
Great content my friend ! you have some a great patience ;) I think my brain has already given up after 10 people. .
Good morning Chris thanks for showing 👍🏿✌🏾
Good afternoon to you you by now! I hope you have a great day!
Im a new subscriber. I like your videos. Great job. Greetings from Oceanside California 🤙
No Egypt for me, I would get angry fast
Those guys disrespect us the Egyptians and our country Egypt alongside with disrespecting tourists. WE ARE SOO SORRY>>>> They do not represent 1% of us
Yeah definitely not for those without patience... I don't got patience, I just put up with it... it was hard, real hard
@@Travelwithchris I could tell a few times you got that killer look..lol
@@ahmedalaa-ec2qqI have been there it’s not 99% don’t be smart
i have been angry with them to the point you would go to prison ....don,t say a word to them..they have no honour.
I wouldn’t even say a word to that guy. Keep it pushing. People like this just don’t get nothing from me. I respect the hustle but not when annoyance gets to you
They will insult you anyways. It's just disgusting.
This video in particular give me a very valuable information and advice my good brother, and that is not to go to Egypt...
I agree with some of the comments too about how they just hound you, you hold yourself very well Chris.😁💪❤️🙏 Just great stuff.
You have a lot of patience Chris ❤ I think I would end up going crazy 😂with those people that just won’t take no for an answer 😅
This is exactly what I was saying on these other videos! They’re too pushy, too aggressive, it doesn’t feel safe, it doesn’t feel fun. Your patience is astounding!
True
Thanks for showing us these annoying scammers. I feel stressed just watching you deal with these guys. Egypt is off my travel list
I plan on going to Egypt this year. Thanks for the heads up
Love your video, I recently visited a nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor. What I do recommend is getting a tour guide to help you out because these hustlers will usually not approach you when you have a good and honest local guide. If you don't have one then all you gotta do is reject them, no is no! (That's what I learned from living in cairo as a german and thai person 😅)
Another beautiful video but some people local people need some Manners thanks for sharing Chris 👍
Seriously I'm watching these videos, and you really have the patience of a Saint because I would have flipped. im getting irritated just watching the behaviour.. I'm used to touts as I have travelled, but these people are so disrespectful. EGYPT is such a beautiful place, but watching how some of these people operate in your videos, I'm going to give eygpt a miss this year. Thanks again for the videos bro your a good guy and very respectful of peoples cultures👊🏿
Wowowo u are so Patient man
Have a nice time Chris, try to spend more time in New Cairo you'll definitely like to try some of the cafes and restaurants there in the open mall area of Madinty or eastern Souq of Rehab.
After visiting Egypt, tourists would need another vacation just to recover from this 😢. Sad… a country with so much history is getting a bad name because of these touts and scammers and the officials are oblivious or don’t care.
This was nothing. A few years a go my wife and i went to Hurghada. The people there are very very respectless. Try to buy your wife for camels and that kind of stuff.
Respect From Glendale California!
Hello. Good to see you again.😊👍
And one more thing Chris. Did you see how quickly the children backed off near the end of your video when you gave them a loud and firm no? This is how to deal with touts. In certain places of the world niceness is associated with weakness. Also be aware the touts would never behave this way with an Arab tourist. Arabs would never tolerate such behavior. You got to harden your heart. Great video Chris except for the touts.
But you are a foreigner. You are just money in these touristic areas.
You are so patient!!! 😮😮😮
You had me laughing when you told those vendors what kind of dog you have hahaha! The way you crack up hahahah!
Thanks for showing us your travels, chris!
Thanks for the support!
Do visit the citadel and al-Azhar Park in Cairo! Zamalek has a couple of museums, the Cairo Marriott Hotel and the garden are also worth a visit.
I know it may seem rude given the fact these are economically depressed regions of the world. But harassing tourist when tourism is a major source of revenue is counterproductive. I generally say “no thanks” “no” and then ignore them - sadly. Starting up a conversation with a “hello” generally is construed as an invitation to solicit relentlessly. Egypt looks beautiful and is on list of places to go. On hold for now because of the political trouble in the region.
Nice Vlog in Luxor😍
That's Amazing, Keep Going!
Traveling Mercy you stay safe I definitely don't want to get off the boat there
as someone who is well travelled that why i love living in thiland the people are respectful and dont grind the tourists
First, Chris, you are very patient, congratulations! Egypt can be a real nice experience, depending on where you go and how you behave. It use to be agreable in the pure local places, in remote areas where the tourists never go. But of course it can take time to be accepted and it doesn't fit with a tourist program. taking enough time is the key. Bettrer go slowly and taste one area, and come back later as possible to see other places. The real backpackers life is disappearing, the "bourgeois" take all the place... Remember cameras and photos non stop is not ageable for people in most countries. Better stay simple, it will open all the doors. In fact it kills the real contact. I tell you that, I travelled all my life with low budget.
As an Egyptian-born Canadian, I feel absolutely ashamed to see these individuals representing Egypt and its nation. It is utterly preposterous that these local vendors assume every tourist is an naive newcomer to the country with sly smiles exploiting tourists’ lack of knowledge about local prices and taking advantage of any opportunity to make a profit through cunning tactics employed by some of them. These behavior should not be tolerated in this country. However, I strongly believe that Egypt is an extraordinary country with a rich culture, awe-inspiring history, and delightful weather. Chris, I would like to express my gratitude for your kind and patient.
The comportment of tourists is often responsible of that. I come as possible to Egypt from 1980, of course it changed a lot, and there are super basterds here anbd there, but globally it can be a very nice country...
Very much respect for your patience. During a visit to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings, the keeper of the tombs made us jump over some fence to take a picture of us in the tomb, and then he asked for money for it, and when some tourists came by, he pretended to yell at us for breaking the rules. They are unbelievable. I come from Serbia, which is not a much richer country than Egypt, we are not the rich West... It's funny to me.
Because how nice u are with people interactions... u should have more followers... but it s okay, time will make it happen Chris! U such a cool guy!
Thank you so much for the support! 🙏🏻❤️ I appreciate you so much!
@@Travelwithchris cheers from Cambodia
I love the barging in the market and the show they'll put on.
From Marocco to Indonesia, it's all the same fun game.
If they ask you 100 tell them you have 50 or less. They will let you go. You can always go to a resort if you don't like the locals.
Much love and blessings from the Netherlands🖐🏾
Thanks for watching!
Hi Chris, are you coming to make a vlog when you come to Chicago
I hope that someone can reach to the guy that took the photos and never sent them to you. That’s straight up fucked up
Rizzy gonna Rizzy
I'm sorry no way I could that calm. I could never visit there after watching. Love your video.
Yes definitely not a spot for everyone bro, it was hard! Thanks for watching!
Brother Chris- best advice I can give you regarding gifts and souvenirs to avoid the haggling and headfuck, just go into a their main supermarket - you’ll find it all there for a fraction of the price and it’s all price tagged.
What's their main supermarket?
There’s many around Egypt -Gomla Market, Fathalla, ragab & sons, Kher Zaman but specifically in Luxor I believe it’s Gomla Market in Television Street if not sure ask a local but just be cautious. Good luck 🤞🏻
Couple of mainstream supermarkets you’ll find around Cairo or Alexandria (if you go)- Spinneys & Carrefour 🤙
Laughing all the way through. Bringing back memories.
You really so kind and gentlemen and patien Person 😊
Lets go guys only 2k left for the 400k subs 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Most repeated words when visiting Egypt - la shukran
DON,T SAY A WORD TO THEM.
Always wanted to visit Egypt one day, it was on my bucket list but after seeing this video I have changed my mind. I can feel the bad energy/vibe from the screen.
Chris one thing i would advise you on is get one of those Jalabayas. It's the robe that the men are wearing casually. Get a high quality one. Super comfortable man. Egyptian cotton. Lay off the cheap mass produced ancient Egyptian relics lol.
I think u should say no instead of thank you, I know u r being polite but I think they might get the message a bit faster even though I know they r persistent
@iluvcookies6380 - You're right. Saying 'thank you' incessantly just spurs them on.
They think it means... try again!
Chris do the balloon ride in Luxor. Is amazing!
I would've done it, but the weather didn't allow the following morning!
Yea try that it is amazing
Man the more videos I watch of people travelling countries like this, the more I realize I would probably end up getting in trouble lol. I don't think I could keep my composure like you when being harassed to spend money. I get that they are probably struggling to make a living but holy hell, take no for an answer! 🤣
these poor horses you can see they have totally shut down poor things
You are very patient Chris. I could not visit this country after seeing how the they harass you. They are ruining the tourist trade.
I’ll never go back to Egypt I had police take money from me and everyone is out to con you
Those guys at that shop are nice guys!!!😊
Been wanted to visit Egypt for years but the touts definitely put me off. How many times do you need to say no thank you. Enough is enough. A shame because it looks an Amazing place to visit.
Did you even manage to catch your breath at any point without saying a word 😂😂😂 - just avoid responding they soon back off. Take it from a guy who’s been in Egypt over 2years! Trust me
You missed the photo of the Luxor Obelisk and the Avenue of Sphinxes You didn´t film the Valley of the Kings Tombs? You did not go to Abu Simbel ?
he only want to show the scamers and the bad side of the country
he only want to show the scamers and the bad side of the country
he only want to show the scamers and the bad side of the country
Thank you, respect all animals
youve got to be firmer with them
WHY...would you do that Chris?? You are trying to be so nice and correct...that got you, because you dont want to be disrespectful or show these places in a negative light. You should have walked away & take your own pictures. Please & thank you is not enough at times. You are walking around making videos, you can take your own pictures. Stop trying to be nice.
Mr. Chris:Welcome to Luxor, Egypt this weekend to visits these amazing temples in January of 2024❤❤❤I wish you safe journeys always in peace 2024❤❤❤
I sure hate people like that , I don’t have the patience to deal with shit like that .
If I ever go there I will watch out for those guys!!!
Great video but so annoying that you say I'm ok thank you and they keep on going....... ✌🏽🇦🇺
@atimos187 - ....but that's the very reason that they *do* keep hassling!
Even speaking to them at all just emboldens them, let alone encouraging them more by being polite and saying "thank you" incessantly!
Chris will be learning before the end of his visit that such a response just does not work and is counter-productive! We have all fallen into this trap when first visiting a country like Egypt.
I have to admit to cringing when watching Chris dealing with the photographer and the stallholder for example... Sorry!
I have visited Egypt many times and I have local friends in Luxor. They agree with me that tourists will only buy what they want to buy - they will not be brow-beaten into submission by touts such as the caleche drivers. (Horse-drawn carriages here are known universally as caleches).
By the way, the "Reckless" top was possibly tempting fate?!! 😀
