    When your hairdresser spills the color and instead of getting new color says, "F-it let's see what happens!" then proceeds to put the "what will it do?" color on your hair. Afterall, she "the paying client" whose hair you're about to experiment on won't know the difference. Fortunately, for this client, her hair turned out nicely.

    Wow looks nice! It's also interesting to see you using Paul Mitchell products since everyone uses the Redken shades EQ (not sure if you've used these before but if you have, what your thoughts are on them vs the Paul Mitchell demi line). The client's hair definitely seemed quite dry from the beginning though so I hope she knew to deep condition and use hair oils!

      Yes, she has naturally grey hair plus well water I want to say..... plus curly lol
      I have used shades but I didn't think it was any better. Its honestly just easier where i live, our Cosmo prof doesn't carry redken

    Why wouldn't the darker toner have darkened the light hair you already toned?

    • @hairbykristijennings6648
      @hairbykristijennings6648  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I explained that at 11:45.
      I didn't run the dark thru the ends. Just blended thru the ends.

    Beautiful work, Kristi! Hey what is the maintenance for this ? I always get lost when theres grey coverage involved. I have a client that I want to do this on but she doesn't want to get her roots done every month. What would you suggest?

    • @hairbykristijennings6648
      @hairbykristijennings6648  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh man.... for this client, I feel like the maintenance is pretty high. We basically do a full foil so she has an extreme line when she grows out, then off course the hair fades over time. I guess it honestly depends on the budget. You could do what Jack Martin (grey specialist) does where it totally blends with their natural roots so there is no grow out, but it's a huge service to take on. One of mine took 8 hours and cost $600. Or, just do very fine babylights that blend with their natural hair and tone it more grey. That's a really hard call, but mostly depends on budget. Look up my video, grey blending, that might be something easy to try

    I wish more stylist would care about the integrity of clients hair. Most don’t and I always end up with damaged hair

    I was gonna ask where you’re located & found your “about” says you’re like an hour north of Seattle! 😁I lived in Woodinville for part of my childhood, it was also in Bellingham and Blane for awhile.
    Ofc, now I’m in CA, so I can’t come and see you😔

    It's hard to say small things make a difference with foils when you make the decision to apply a colour you're unsure about due to your error dropping it. As a client I wouldn't be happy if a colourist did this. It's best to just cut your losses and re-do the darker colour from scratch so you know you're getting a perfect result. This is a shortcut, too, and isn't a great look.

    • @hairbykristijennings6648
      @hairbykristijennings6648  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It's not necessarily only because of the formulation that I was unsure of how it would turn out, it was because of putting such an ashy formulation on blonde hair. You never know how ashy/grey/ blue/ green it can grab. Also, if that's the last of that specific toner you can't always remix or start from scratch.
      It's better to be safe than sorry of being overly confident in the formulation and just assuming it's going to turn out good.
      There's so many times I see stylists putting on a toner and walking away for 20 minutes and I panic. With porous hair anything can happen.
