- Tired of you golf cart making a noise from the Differential Transaxle then this fix may be just what you need. Work performed on a 1998 Club Car Model DS but will apply to many different brands.
Supplies used
GE Advanced Silicone applied to splines amzn.to/3o21TAQ
Lucas Oil 40001 Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer For Differential amzn.to/3MthpQq
I did the Silicone repair first and it didn't seem to make a difference on my cart. I then did the oil change and wow! So much quieter now!
Just completed the silicone repair on my 2002 Club Car DS. The results were EXCELLENT!! Very quiet now. Really appreciate this video!
Thank so much for the update. Ours is still nice and quite with many mile put on it sense the repair.
Redline oil makes a product called "shockproof" gear oil which has what seems to be chopped up teflon in it. You can't use it in anything with a pump, but in old worn out gearboxes it's amazing. I use in in tractor PTO mower gearboxes mostly.
What a great tip thank you!
Airplane propeller geese works real good in a car drive shaft ,helps the drive shaft slip in and out of the transmission , when you stop then let the brake pedal go i dont get the klunk noise anymore.
THANK YOU for posting this ,My 2002 48v IQ DS ,made this same noise , exactly the same ! I did as you suggested and it's perfect mow ! THANK YOU !
I'm glad you got yours fixed
Interesting. The spline drive shaft was probably floating in and out. A foam plug placed inside the ac motor would of applied pressure to the drive shaft to keep it in place.
Makes sense.
Great video!
Who would have thunk it!!!
Good job
Please explain why you are not usiing 30W regular oil in the differential as specified in the differential ? is the oil stabilizer by itself thicker than the 30W oil ? Maybe someone had put gear oil instead of 30 W in the differential previously. Way too thin.
Age and temperature: After 25 years of use I'm sure we have some extra clearance and wear in the differential also the fact that is never used in cold weather so no need to worry about the loss of efficiency do to the thicker oil in cold weather. We have ran it hard every day for the past 2 months and all is still quite.
Gear lube is much heavier the 30W motor oil. For worn gears, 85-140W helps!
How did you determine that the noise was NOT coming from the electric motor bearing? That not a real difficult thing to replace.
I checked that first thing, and it was smooth as silk. Ps, it's still nice a quiet 🤫 👌
I have the same issue with mine, 2002 Yamaha G19. I the input shaft is $200!!! I can’t afford it. Do you recommend I change oil first and see, or buy the GE silicon? Thank you!
Yes I would start with the Lucas oil change. If not better then try the silicone. Keep me updated on what you find out.
Must be that heavy heavy weight oil that you put in my DS only take 30 weight
Ours did also but the heaver oil works just fine in warm weather.
Good stuff, thanks for the video.
I thought 30 w motor oil was the thing to use in a rear differential of a golf cart ? H E L P , THANKS .
We only operate it in warm weather. It's been over a year now, and everything is still nice and quiet.
Is there anything you can't figure out and work on?
I injoy the challenge
Stop putting rattlesnakes in the trunk.😂
Spline backlash....💰
I never new that was a thing
