Just now I noticed the difference here is that Luna took her time to grow up while Noctis was forced to. Seeing as how seemless she grew here in this scene compared to how abrupt we changed from young Noctis to adult Noctis.
SPOILERS: JUST A REMINDER THAT LUNA'S SCENE WAS SO MUCH MORE IMPACTING WITH THE ORIGINAL JAPANESE DIALOGUE: This is the JAPANESE translation: Thank my mom for them lol -- Luna: oh you're here Noctis'sama! Noctis: "you too?" Luna: I never thought I'd see you one more time! Noctis: Why is that? Luna: Because I finished the mission of the gods. Noctis : even when you're finished, you can still be with me right?" Luna: All the gods have acknowledged your power, the ring is going to be back in your hands. Luna walks away Luna: When you go back to your friends to visit Tenebrae, there will be alot of flowers awaiting you! Noctis: what about you? Luna changes older Luna: For you to come all this way to see me is enough. (For her to be happy in hidden words as my mom explains) Noctis: But why...? Even if I died, all I wanted was to save you." Luna: If you're feeling lonely, please remember me. From now on, I'll be a little faraway... but I will always protect you. " gives the flower "Goodbye, Noctis"
Completely agree. I have never played the game in English, nor will I ever. It's such a shame it's so difficult to find a copy of the movie in Japanese though...
This scene is one of the most beautiful scenes in the history of video games. It is more emotional in Japanese in my opinion, the English did a very good job don't get me wrong, infact some words here were better in English. But next to the ending of FFX this is by far the most emotional scene I have ever seen. Can't stand the whole 'Oh Luna hardly had any screen time and then died, so I hate the game. 'You are missing the point of the story. It's meant to be emotional, impactful and tragic. But I will admit that the story could have better, like it didn't need to vague at times. If this game isn't your favourite because of it's messy story then that's fair but I can't believe how much hate this game gets. What's to hate about it? NO Final Fantasy game is perfect. I'm glad some people like or love this game though. My god what a beautiful scene and interesting story.
When I was single, I lived life in a very abrupt and adventurous way. I played this game and I was immature, until I met my girlfriend and now wife, when I played I put myself in Noctis' shoes and I don't know what it would be like to move on, having to face so many other things knowing that my wife sacrificed herself for the greater good. You have to be very strong to keep moving forward until the end and Noctis has lost so much, from the beginning of his life, his mother, his father, his kingdom, loved ones along the journey and in the end he has to say goodbye until even to your best friends. Sometimes a game isn't just a game, but it stays in your memory forever.
Some people don't seem to understand that the emotions and nuances transported by the wording and inflection can't be grasped fully unless you speak the respective language. I speak both English and Japanese and I disagree strongly with japanese Luna not being emotional enough. To me it's heart-breaking the way she tries to be comforting towards her beloved even in her passing and even in death she holds back her own wishes. I do love her japanese voice.
Yeah I cried like a bitch in front of my brothers when this scene came up. Especially at "would that I could join you" Fuck me that was like a stab to the heart
every fucking time... i gotta cry... and im an adult.. ff7 scared me as a child.. this scared me as an adult.. fuuuuck, i wont ever forgive SE of robbing us of luna this cheaply!!!
What I'm complaining about is that Luna is referring to Noctis as "Noctis-sama" which isn't right. Aren't they supposed to be in love? Why the formalities? You had like fifteen years to talk to each other through a notebook. The least Noctis could do was ask her to call him "Noct" like the rest of the people who are close to him. It doesn't sound like they're close at all. It feels very distant.
Avanti ! I always felt like Luna was more like a big sister to Noctis than her lover. Especially when I see this scene. I know she was in love with Noctis but when you listen to her it's always "my duty as oracle...etc..." I also think their bonds are not showed enough.
Probably to emphases on their status as royalty. But yeah, I would have loved if the way they talked to each other would be more casual compared to others with the little scenes they gave us with Luna and no actual interaction between the two before this scene...
I think it's a japanese thing with respect. Because Noctis is the "true king", it's possible the writers decided that was fitting that she uses the formality to contrast the magnitude of his duty in the story. Where she was an Oracle to help guide him, he is the one who is chosen to save the world. That makes the most sense to me
It's a Japanese thing. There are a lot of things to call your husband other than his name. Including, but not limited to "anata" (you. as in, "you are the only one"), "goushujin" (master), and the ultimate "danna sama" (lord). These are traditional references and modern japanese generations feel that being on a first name basis (without "san", "chan" or "kun") is enough because only close relations do that. but even now, it's not unusual to see couples use last names or other formalities years into their relationship. Showing high respect to each other is often times considered more romantic and serious than using a nickname, and you see it a lot in Japanese period pieces and anime. Luna using a highly respectful term for Noctis is meant to show her utmost devotion to him as "lord", of both the world and her heart.
Why can't you rewatch this in the game? Every game should let you rewatch cutscenes. Like how Yakuza lets you watch all those cutscenes, it's awesome. If I want to see this again in high quality I have to play the game again, pretty stupid.
I must say I still prefer the English version to this. Luna's voice is a little...juvenile-sounding here, which does rob the scene of the emotional impact it seeks to achieve.
So you don't feel anything for someone who dies just because they don't have deep 30+ year old sounding voices? You make no sense, just say you like the english version better. How can a scene be any less emotional just because some doesn't have a deeper voice. Get over yourself.
Catalina Tio Easy there, buddy. You accuse me of not making any sense, yet you aren't making any sense through a response reeking of fallacious assumptions based off something I did not say. I am allowed to have a subjective opinion and preference, as you are entitled to yours. I urge you to take your own advice and get over yourself.
This is one of the many times where I will say... English was better. Luna sounds like a teenager instead of a world weary woman. I bet a lot of the people saying the Japanese version was better probably thought that FF12 was amazing in Japanese, whereas the voice acting was considered joke worthy when I played it as a child.
It looks like I am the only one who prefers this over the english version. I mean, both are great, but what I don't like about the english version is that they messed up the dialogues a bit. I feel like the translation of this (not the subtitles in the video) makes the scene much easier to understand than the dialogues from the english version.
Being older doesn't automatically make everybody younger than you "-chan". The suffix you use is based on various factors, including your role in a hierarchy, google it if you'd like, it's a very broad topic.
Noctis is the next King and Luna's fiance. Giving and addressing with respect is a Japanese thing and is considered both romantic and beautiful. This also shows Luna's devotion and faith towards Noct.
I don't like her voice in Japanese, breaks the scene and Ambience. And also, because I do understand a little and that I helped myslef with the traduction down below by a fellow poster... I can without doubt say that the English version is more elaborated. And prettier. And sadder.
That makes no sense. How can a voice affect the scene? Its how she sounds you're saying people with lighter voices die it's not sad, that makes no sense.
I just believe that the english voice sounds more melodramatic and more sad with the vibration of the vocal the translator did, I do not know... I just prefer how Luna sounds in English than in Japanese, and I prefer how Cindy sounds in Japanese better than the English version. I just think that Luna's translator skills in English iare better than the Japanese one , nothing to do with that people with lighter voices are not sad. just about how the person who made the voice has made it, skills and emotion put on it. Hope you didn't misunderstood it c:
Go watch this scene in french and tell me this Japanese version is better. Nope. no, do not pass go. Japanese version is so unemotional it's hard to believe.
Saying that the English version is better in front of a weeaboo is like breaking the news to your Democratic family that you voted for Trump. English version is better.

xPrincessGarnetXVI tell your mom thanks. Also thanks for posting this.
I will thank you so much!
xPrincessGarnetXVI thanks i love luna is not fair why???
...*sob* because of plot devices?
Your mom is a goddess. Thank you 😭
Japanese version is emotional more than any version.
Completely agree. I have never played the game in English, nor will I ever. It's such a shame it's so difficult to find a copy of the movie in Japanese though...
If any game has Japan Version I'd play it , the English version not as good as them if you compared it to the masterpiece
Agree
I prefer english version
Buys the game switches dialogue to Japanese. Cries in this scene
I respect the English voice acting but honestly the Japanese original voice acting has this place in my heart nothing else can fullfill

I love FF ending too
This scene breaks me no matter how many times I rewatch it

Well, I was never the one to not cry when it was Suzuki Tatsuhisa voice acting a very emotional scene and I cry all the time :')

I love how Its represent blue as Mother crystal
Oh yeah. Just as emotionally powerful as I remember. There's just no way to hold back the tears, is there?
Every once in a while gotta come and watch the best scene in a video game ever. 2:38 man.
Still the best 🤧
So Sad! I Wish the Game Would Show Us Their Bond and Strong Feelings! Then I Would've Cried More Than I Did!!!
hopefully they will release a dlc showing their relationship clearly.
Yeah I hope they do!
Exactly
luna's voice reminds me of hinata from naruto and naruto shippuden
right
Yep a very poor choice for a very mature character like luna in my opinion
I cry every time.
i cant remember most of the game and feel too exhausted trying to replay it. but this scene is what i remember and liked most about the game
When the DMT is finished with you and moves on to the next sad soul.
I come here for the beautiful cgi
When the boys cry a lot :(
Luna just want to see the flower on tenebrae with noctis😭😭
Yeah I cried like a bitch in front of my brothers when this scene came up.
Especially at "would that I could join you"

Avanti ! idk, she’s a formal person
Sayonara Dear Freya

It so emotional
But I dont understand English
.As for me, the Japanese voice acting is the best
sucks that everything after this is lackluster

you do realize a lot of japanese adult women have high pitched voices?
It looks like I am the only one who prefers this over the english version. I mean, both are great, but what I don't like about the english version is that they messed up the dialogues a bit. Shinji > Noctis
Because shinji will pull his girl out with tsubasa wo kudasai playing in background
He only have little power of friendship that why luna death 😂😂
sounds so unnatural. She sounds like a lady working in Macy's
wow, for the first time i think the English version is better.
this is the first time that I say I like the English version more.
do you know where I can find the japanese quote?
cant wait for AERIS DEATH🥰🥰🙌
How come Luna call Noctis Sama instead of Chan? Wasn't she older than him?
Being older doesn't automatically make everybody younger than you "-chan". The suffix you use is based on various factors, including your role in a hierarchy, google it if you'd like, it's a very broad topic.
because he's a King
Noctis is the next King and Luna's fiance. Giving and addressing with respect is a Japanese thing and is considered both romantic and beautiful. This also shows Luna's devotion and faith towards Noct.
720p
Jeeez they even re-lyp synced for both Japanese and English FMVs. For some reason I thought they’d be too cheap to do it.
biggest scam in arranged marriage history. dem it story writer
She sounds far too happy in this one... I liked the english/german version way more.
Are you stupid? I felt Luna's pain here more than in English one because of their inevitable separation.
Yeahhhhh, I prefer the ENG voice. She sounds so young here, and super generic anime voice
Matthew Chaisuwan ew
I don't like her voice in Japanese, breaks the scene and Ambience. And also, because I do understand a little and that I helped myslef with the traduction down below by a fellow poster... I can without doubt say that the English version is more elaborated. And prettier. And sadder.

Pastel Goth girl Go fuck yourself SJW.
when the english version is cringe as fuck cuz she sounds like a teenage girl in her puberty XD
This is the worst version of this scene... French is the best.
Shadow Sea Seriously, French... English is barely acceptable in JRPG games but French? Fuck outta here, mate.
Go watch this scene in french and tell me this Japanese version is better. Nope. no, do not pass go. Japanese version is so unemotional it's hard to believe.
@@milkyhana6619 unemotional?are you sure?
Saying that the English version is better in front of a weeaboo is like breaking the news to your Democratic family that you voted for Trump. English version is better.
One of the MOST UNDER-HEARD comments around here. lol
you earned my internet :)
