Going to Therapy Compilation Part 1

- It's compilation Thursday, therapy edition.
00:01 The Radiologist Goes to Therapy - This was the first therapy session and it was a big hit when I posted it over a year ago. This was also the debut of the radiologist's sunglasses, which are actually the glasses we give to patients after they have cataract surgery. For all of my videos, I try to open with my second best joke and close with my best joke. This has one of my favorite closing jokes/plot twists. Nobody was expecting the double sunglasses. Happy cortical bone season everybody.
00:58 The Neurosurgeon Goes to Therapy - I know all the characters are played by me and this is a weird thing to say, but I think the neurosurgeon and the psychiatrist have great chemistry. They could star together in a buddy comedy. I had a hard time writing for the neurosurgeon because I know very little about that specialty. I didn't meet my first neurosurgeon until about 3 months ago. In this video, I leaned into the neurosurgeon's poor work life balance. I think jokes about neurosurgeons not seeing their families is a little played out, but I didn't have much else to go on, so I tried to make it fresh by using the JC Penny stock photo gag. I think it went over pretty well. I didn't get any angry emails from neurosurgeons. They were probably busy operating.
03:30 The Med Student Goes to Therapy - One of the more heartbreaking things in medicine is when a student works their ass off for 3.5 years and doesn't match into a residency program. In 2021, I made a match day video congratulating all the students who matched. After I posted it, I heard from a good number of students who didn't match. They were distraught and looking for advice/comfort/support. I made this video for them and plan on sharing it every year from now on. Medicine can be a cruel. We need to support each other.
The med student's therapy session is the best one yet. Thanks Dr. G
I feel just like the med student does. Didn’t pass my final clinical dentistry exam. Felt shattered, worthless and like a failure and let down everyone. Thankfully many of my senior clinicians told me exactly what the psychiatrist said. It’ll pass and I’ll become a better dentist than I could’ve imagined.
To anyone who relates, stay strong. You got this. You’re smart, capable and worked your ass off to get where you are. Never forget that
I hope you already eyed the golf club you'll be scaring bone bro with?
Also, don't forget that the psychiatrist is ancient xD
What a complete coincidence, my dental licensure exam was this May and here I am after having failed it. Gonna try again this year.
Med student was definitely relatable and I think at some point we all just go through this stage in our lives
@@fakhruddinnalawala5451 xD? Please explain.Greetings from Thailand; born in Finland.
'For the last time, psychiatry is NOT a surgical disease,' makes me cackle every time. Love your videos, Doc!
Neurosurgery's line, "I sublet" still cracks me up.
I'm not a med student, but that inspirational speech to the med student really got to me. So often do I also feel like I've let people down because I've "failed"
I love these bits of subtle hints of lore, like Jonathan being part of a secret revolution or the psychiatrist being immortal.
That therapy session with the med student was chicken soup for my soul
All I can say is the Therapist has his “carpals, metacarpals, and phalanges” full
- your videos always make me laugh 😂
I don't have an operationng room at home... YET!
Thank you for adding the med student one! I had forgotten about it after I watched it, and it hits harder after having to retake my oral exam for my PhD. Didn't realize how much I needed it until now!
Edit to add: I passed the second time around, and to anyone else who has felt like a failure, you got this!
Congratulations!!! You persevered and deserve to celebrate!
Congrats!!!!!!!! I’m so glad to see the updates that you passed and I’m happy it’s so recent I’m not late to the game!!!! I’m proud of you and hope one day I’ll be like you too😭
@@1mol_wAter Thank you so much! Actually, I passed last year but I realized after I made the comment that I forgot to say it, so I edited to add it as encouragement! But thank you! Best of luck to you in the future!
@@Fumm95 Ahhhhh it’s ok!!!! Bet you’re still thrilled about it… how nice. Would you mind telling me what is your area of research 😭😭
@@1mol_wAter I just realized I never replied to this, sorry! Yeah, I'm a Biostatistics PhD student, with a focus on statistical genetics!
Psychiatrist goes to therapy!!!!!!! Lol, one can dream 😅
Or insurance company ceo goes 🤣 what a laugh that would be
This is actually a very interesting idea!
I remember a teacher who made us realise how difficult it can be to apply to ourselves the advice we give our clients
Psychiatrist basically went to therapy when Jonathan showed up
There is a psychiatrist goes to therapy skit- he gives himself therapy via a mirror.
i think there was one of those! he looked in a mirror for it!
Feels strange to be represented alongside more "formal healthcare" characters 😳👌
ayo @ nursing/medical students, can we agree to see each other more often?? we both need it...
The Nero surgeon comment remind me of something Dr. House would tell Dr. Cutty
Today I learn that I am going to realize my dream of becoming a psychiatrist. I’m almost crying. Thank you for your vidéos, they helped me a lot keeping my feelings Up
med student therapy hits hard, I'm a pre-med, applied twice and failed twice now to get any acceptances to schools. I now have to restudy and retake my MCAT and reapply, but part of me is filled with hopelessness about my failures. Thanks for the inspirational speech, it was just the fuel I needed to push through another day.
Plot twist: the psychiatrist is immortal.
Love that one. Although psychiatrist was trying to reframe and bolster med student's disappointment, he did break one rule - don't share other clients (neurology) personal info, 😬 even if it was a set back and he finally matched! 😋
I highly doubt Neurology would file a HIPAA complaint.
@@ferretyluv True!
Love the therapist. Always calm, reassuring, admonishing. Just like the dad I never had.
Also, I just realized, there's no psychiatrist in the Glaucomflecken-verse?
Pharmacology, psychiatry... they're the same just different scope
@@docteursacha7966 In principle, yes, definitely.
But in reality, each has to deal with fundamentally different clients, and that shapes. Like, I know a thing or two about retail, and pharmacists are probably the nicest people handing over a product I know (unless you challenge their knowledge). Psychiatrists are... weird. Just... not in a bad way... but how are they even real?
I’m a psychiatrist. It looks like he focuses on the therapy aspect of Psychiatry which is only a part of what we do. Psychiatrists tend to be more medication management now with some therapy added in
“… along with the stethoscope” 😂😂😂
I just so relate to the Krebs cycle and coagulation cascade joke.
I was a biochemist and med student friends absolutely hated biochemistry. The smell of fear was palpable on biochemistry exam day. Krebs cycle is like a Russian Doll. You think you have learned it and then you find there is an even more complicated version with more steps.
Haven't done it for nearly 40 years. I went into the energy industry but I have never been near an oil field, an oil tanker, a refinery, or a power station. Lots of medicine must be like that. You don't really need to know how or why it works but that it just does and how to fix it when it doesn't.
LMFAO!!So brilliant! You’re the best!!😂😂😂😂😂
My dad is a radiologist and every time he goes outside he wears sunglasses 😂
Always love to see a Dr. glaucoma complection post!
I only started watching your channel a couple months ago, so I am LOVING the compilations!
Subletting the blanket warmer 😂
So close to 1M!
Congrats early.
I forgot the Kreb’s Cycle right after I took the test 😂 I have never needed it in my medical practice, nor the coagulation cascade. I guess they’re good to know just in case
In Sweden they call Kreb's cycle Limonad Hojen "Lemonade Bike" Here's SISU from Suomi-Finland

@@apexxxx10 I wish I spoke Swedish. I’m German so maybe I can read it
Almost to 1mil subs!
Congrats Doc🎉
Brilliant!
im still studying form my JEE and NEET (India.) i already failed on my first try and im going to try again next year. ive been a bit down and the med students therapy session is exactly what i needed to hear
Love it!
Damn....the kreb's cycle one hits hard
"Cortical bone weather" hahaha that made me giggle
We need to see Med Student's first day of Diagnostic Medicine
We need more Dr Bill Bill!
These tend to be my favorite skits:
Urology go to therapy
Icu goes to therapy
Neonatal goes to therapy
Oncology goes to therapy
What happens if you don't match? How do you move forward?
The psych is my favorite character!
Med Student got a wee too personal with the age question. 🤭
The unmatched med student one is my favorite. Pardon the pun, but it is therapeutic
Just take the W, Med Student!
Please do a Jonathan compilation 🙏🩵
Ortho needs to go to therapy due to complaints of weaponized incompetence
Ortho! "Nailing or Plating and don't forget the screws!" Greetings from sunny tropical THAILAND. SISU Made in Suomi-Finland th-cam.com/video/OGbr-aAnKTo/w-d-xo.html
My Neuro surgeon was a pretty nice fellow actually lol
Watching these videos makes me want to go to med school. And I’m 42 with a business degree who is terrible at math and science 💀
Give it a try. Later specialize in Geriatric/Palliative medicine!
Will we ever see ObGyn going to Therapy?
3:27 if psychiatry isn’t a surgical disease, does that mean that it is is fact a mental disease or disorder?
🤔
I want tht ans too why doctors pursue non surgical field .. ok i exclude EM because i know the ans still😅
Psychiatry is not a surgical disease.
First!
That "yet" was a diamond 💎 "it's a good first step" fits anywhere 😂, pure gold 🪙
*Gold Standard like SISU!* th-cam.com/video/OGbr-aAnKTo/w-d-xo.html
Oh, But Psychiatry IS a surgical disease. Ole "Feelings Bro" must have "forgotten" about Deep Brain Stimulation and Bilateral Cingulotomy. ✊️🫶
