I'm shocked that the big10 or the SEC hasn't come out and said " we'd love to have FSU and Clemson, matter of fact we're talking to them daily about joining our beloved conference/conferences. Now ACC, please sue us for tampering" lmfao 🤣 😂 😭 💀
Wouldn’t it be considered tampering if the big 10 & sec just came right out and said they were trying to pull fsu and Clemson from the acc. Wouldn’t those conferences be sued if they said that prior to them being released from the acc.
"Despite the smaller TV contract, the Seminoles were one of the programs to generate the highest revenue during the 2022-23 year. According to Sportico, they had a total operating revenue of $91,476,275, which is the most in the ACC and among the highest totals in the country." Sportico, July 2023 Yet all you haters are saying that Florida State doesn't bring anything to the table. Michael Alford pointed out these numbers to Florida state's BOT in their spring meeting of 2023. FSU would have been the third largest revenue producer in the SEC and/or the Big 12 as of that time last year!! Now y'all are going to tell me that Sankey or Petiti has not seen those numbers? Get out of here! All this is simply a smoke screen so they can't be seen as tampering with an ongoing legal battle which would get them and their conference sued immediately. All the conferences staffs and the University presidents are simply following the lead and what they've been told by their commissioners. Period. Plus we've already been over all of this! Greg Sankey and Tony petiti said right after we filed the lawsuit that invitations would not even be thought about until Florida State was officially out of the ACC!!! Of course they're going to stick to that rhetoric at this time. People simply want to react these days without logically thinking through what they're saying. Fans succumb to clickbait material and believe it to be true without doing any research on their own. It's just sad.
I'm ready for football so we can put this behind us for a while. There was a lot of talk about USC leaving the PAC that was downplayed, then talk that the 4 corner schools would go to the Big 12 while Oregon and Washington will end up in the Big 10, but we had to endure a year of people talking about how that really isn't going to happen. Then it did. Here is the thing with the ACC, SEC, and ESPN, Disney wants ESPN to curtail spending and ESPN threw the large cash pile to the SEC. Sooner or later, ESPN will consolidate their spending, it is just good business. That time may be now, it may be within a year or 2 or it may be when the ACC GOR expire, but in the end, ESPN is only going to have one cash cow conference and they already picked it.
The thing about adding FSU and Clemson to the SEC or Big 10 isn't just whether they add *any* value to the league, it's whether they add enough value to justify giving those particular schools a piece of their pie. If the SEC/Big Ten schools are already looking at making $75-$100 per school, how much more do they need to make to justify giving FSU and Clemson the same? One other thing to consider just in regard to those two schools and the SEC specifically that makes them different from OU/Texas is that their rivalry games with Florida and South Carolina along with their frequent games against other SEC schools means FSU and Clemson are theoretically already part of the SEC's yearly inventory- while adding games against Bama or UGA might be nice, you also add in games against Vandy and Kentucky. Is that worth it considering you already have access to the biggest or second biggest games those schools play every year anyway?
FSU earned over $130m in CFB for the ACC last year. That’s a lot more money than most SEC or B1G teams earned. They would make tens of millions a year for either conference.
@@EuroNole So if you assume they bring along a partner (Clemson or someone else) and that $130m figure carries over to a league that already has big brands and the Florida market they add just over $7 million per school to an 18 school SEC **before** accounting for whatever their own cut of the share is. Is $7 million more really worth it to elevate what amounts to a rival program to the likes of Bama, UGA and the other SEC power players when they are already bringing in $75-$100 million?
@@willpsone Fair question. CFB is no longer market driven, it is brand driven. What is Alabama’s market? Birmingham? No, they are a truly national brand. So is Florida State. The fact that two schools might be in the same geographic area is immaterial. Every brand has their own following. The SEC already had Texas A&M, why add Texas?
I just had a talk with my son. I'm in Oregon, he is in high school, about to be a junior, and he has big dreams. He wants to accomplish big things, and college would help him do that. However, he has a 3.0 GPA. He has a lot of problems with missing assignments. He won't be able to get into the top notch private colleges or the high ranked out of state universities. I was able to tell him that he still has options. He can go to a trade school, or he can go to U of O. U of O is not highly ranked, in fact it's ranked pretty low. However, U of O is now going to be a part of the Big Ten Academic Alliance. That matters. If he goes that route, being part of the BTAA is going to matter to his career. That's a big deal. Academics don't matter to the viewer. They might not even matter to many students that just want to go and play sports. They matter to the parents. They matter to the administrators. They matter to the professors. Right now I'm pushing him to join the automotive maintenance after school group. Having trade skills is a great backup in life.
Josh Pate is thinking like an outsider void or apathetic to the relationships between conference members. If you make move like Josh Pate would make moves, folks, YOU WOULD EFFECTIVELY PUSH OUT OTHER TEAMS FROM YOUR CONFERENCE. Do not "go get inventory". This is devaluing chemistry over matchups and forgetting that chemistry and rivalries is what got you to this point.
Florida State is not a disruptive partner. It's very hypocritical of the SEC and B1G to to call ANYONE else a disruptive partner, which is exactly what those two conferences are
Spot on. There's a lot of runway before the next phase of realignment takes off. What the SEC and Big 10 say today doesn't mean its what they will say a year from now.
The reality is that the legal process may either force a settlement or go through more than a year in the courts. Other conferences cannot meddle right now because of contract violations. We will see more clearly in 2026 or 2027.
Is there a scenario in which the ACC crumbles, (along with any media agreements) and then a new conference is generated with select ex-ACC schools, along with an updated tv deal? FSU, Clemson, UNC, UVA, NC State, Miami, Va Tech, Ga Tech, maybe? Everyone else gets left out in the cold.
Ou Texas USC and ucla definitely weren’t disruptive. Ou and Texas almost torpedoed the big 12 which will now our last the acc. And usc and ucla definitely wasnt the domino that led to the pac 12 being torpedoed. They weren’t disruptive at all 😂
FSU is both disruptive & valid to feel/act the way they do. Let’s not pretend they aren’t actively hurting lower level teams in their conference tho just like Texas, OU, UCLA, USC, Oregon & Washington
@@NorthGeorgiaJoshUSC and UCLA did not sue the PAC12, they did not hire lawyers to break their contract early, they did not accuse ESPN of predatory and unfair practices, and they did not wage a public smear campaign to discredit the name and image of the PAC12
4:37 yeah.. if ACC implodes.. B10 and SEC will fight to get the best.. but if FSU/Clemson gets out of grant of rights.. does that invalidate the GOR of other conferences… does that mean other teams have to stay with their current conference… ?
FSU and Clemson aren't leaving the ACC this year, regardless. FSU and Clemson aren't leaving until either the ACC agrees to a settlement or there is a decision in the court cases...because they aren't leaving without their media rights. This entire scenario changes every week...this is all speculation on what the situation might be next year or 2 years from now. I'd be absolutely stunned if anyone announces they are leaving the ACC by the August deadline for the 2025 season.
In the streaming era all conferences will have all markets, the question is, amongst those games (now that anyone anywhere can see any game) which provide the highest caliber games? Who wins those eyes that are no longer regionally locked? Top tier, winning brands fighting it out. The answer to whos going power two is in the past decade of W-L stats.
I like Josh pate. But I really don’t think anything is happening this year or for maybe another year and he has just been click bating people that are fans of ACC teams this off season with fake realignment rumors. Bad look!
This is just a snippet of the large conversation of how the elites are turning the sport we all love into the NFL. Two super conferences, more games that have less meaning, large playoff that allows teams that don’t deserve to be there to have a seat at the table, and paying players to play 6 games at 100%. This needs to stop and we need to go back.
Saying that FSU isn't "cooperative" is a diplomatic way of saying that they're entitled. Their entitlement is a subject of conversation that we're not addressing adequately.
Well what you got to take into consideration is. If they’re actively communicating with other conferences and fsu leaves and goes to Said conference then they have gave the acc a leg to stand on for a lawsuit. So of course they’re gonna say “we don’t want them” they’re gonna say that until fsu is out of acc
I think Josh is jumping the gun on Florida State. Florida State's biggest complaint is money, so why would they pass up on tens of millions of dollars to go to the Big12, it just doesn't make sense.
Is this a troll account? FSU is spending $250m to get out of the ACC to move sideways. You say that they would make tens of millions more in the Big 12, that is utter rubbish. There’s less than zero chance that they are going to the Big 12.
I think he’s referring to them, as well as the LA teams, still in the PAC. He mentioned OU and Texas still being in the Big 12. He’s not talking about football talent, he’s talking about regional conferences. I agree with his point of view. I miss the days these conferences where regional.
@@MrEddiethedog Especially for the Olympic sports. This is going be tough for so many teams. You got to wonder if it’s really worth it. Still, the matchups are going to be epic
As a fan, I’d love to see FSU, Clemson, Miami, and Notre Dame all go to the Big 12. What fun that would be. That being said, I’m with you on going back to the days of SWC and Big 8. I WAS born and a fan back in those days. People don’t remember how big a game like Texas at Baylor was back in those days.
Media Markets do matter. Ask advertisers and affiliate marketing/sales. Local advertising matters and subsequently it matters to rights owners and trickles down conferences whose rights have been purchased. Conference Board members haven’t been told what’s what but this conversation is coming. Love uppity Big10 looking to fill its conference with Blue Blood (academic) Universities like UNC and UVA. We’ll see how this all nets out but don’t see ACC breaking up because ESPN and FOX want to sit back and see what their first stab at shaping the future of college football looks like and the ACC still pays out more than BIG12. Your prediction of big news/ things in July, seems like it will be a whole lot of nothing…
Big ten would be stupid if they don’t except FSU, Clemson, and Notre Dame. They should heavily consider North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Virginia and a school from Texas. I thought they wanted to be a national conference.

Northwestern went from 1-11 in 2022 to 8-5 last season and I can't let you talk down on the Gophers they usually have tough teams. Northwestern is building a state of the art stadium. FSU is going to the Big 10.
I forget. How exciting is it to play Vanderbilt, Missouri, Miss State? Let me guess, Missouri is elite now because they had 1 good year in the last 10 years?
@@JohnDavis-tm3bo That’s because the B1G didn’t have an elevator clause to bring in more teams not named ND. The media rights deal was already signed. USC/UCLA came in as full members because they were part of the media negotiations with the B1G/Fox. So any teams they add removes money from the existing schools. It cuts the pie into smaller pieces. Once the current contract expires, they become full paid members.
both big conferences are still in the digesting stage of adding new members, do not need new ones currently so Clemson, fsu do not have much of a choice, remain in ACC, go to big12 or SUNBELT. they have zero leverage to asked to be paid more, get sweetheart deal than other teams in the big12, just got rid of Texas which had one of those deals, no thanks.
Y'all the only reason why FSU, Clemson and UNC aren't in the big 10 or Sec yet is cause these lawsuits aren't settled the big ten and Sec are just waiting too see how big or little that exit fee will be but it's also only those three schools who have enough value to make it worth. Plus keep in mind Purdue, Vanderbilt, northwestern, Indiana, these schools are getting paid close to a 100 mill a year there literally dead weight what helps carry dead weight more muscle like FSU and Clemson and UNC
@@encycl07pedia- I know they won't lol but it's funny hearing him talk about realignment with the reports that came out about how the SEC and B1G didn't want them
Why would they go to the Big 12? They are basically a JV conference now. ACC is currently still better than them. If they leave it has to be for the SEC or Big10
No Way The SEC is taking FSU - Miami - Clemson,, Not Gonna Happen.. Clemson Ran From The SEC,, Years Ago When The SEC Was Ready To Offer Both Invitations, Both Snubbed Them With Their Noses Up..
In response to 5:10 - 7:04 . I have long advocated for more competitive college football and the prospect of adding games of that magnitude will be a means to an end when compared to having a mismatch on a schedule on a regular basis. I do not have the patience nor the inclination to watch any game that runs up a score against a bunch of players whom may not see the light of day in the NFL. Let me watch Georgia play FSU, Clemson, Texas, and Oklahoma on a regular basis and I'll be certain that will be the big screen game on Saturday.
There are some smart people at UNC Clemson and Florida St that can read financial statements. They know that having to pay athletes 22 million a year on top of everything puts ACC schools at a competitive disadvantage. Unless ESPN renegotiates the TV deal, the ACC is all but dead. Teams have no choice but to find a way out. Comparing the SEC B10 and ACC, the ACC has the largest percentage of dead weight. So whether it’s 2025 or 2036 the ACC needs to figure out if they exist or not.
The purpose of the lawsuit was to piss espN off after the crap they pulled! We’re still pissed off.😡 Here’s McMurphy’s Sherlock Holmes Girl Scout badge😎
Said this back in December, little brother in Tallahassee being loud and aggravating will come back to bite them. Little brother getting politicians involved, going after ESPN, Kirk and anybody else that made an obvious decision about the playoffs. Little brother should go independent like Notre Dame and control their own path.
Exactly. Mofo’s just started to get back on track after Jimbo’s last year and Willie’s tenure and trying to make mafia demands. The problem that ACC/BIG 12 PAC-12 and rest of the conference’s don’t realize is nobody cares unless you win. Change comes with beating the SEC/Big 10 as a whole or at least the heavyweights consistently.
FSU has a winning record against the SEC teams. Check the record out 72-71-6. They can compete and with the additional revenue from joining the SEC or B1G will even do better.
Not quite correct on having the politicians involved. AG Moody's request for the contracts was done on the AG's office own accord and not at the request of FSU. AG Moody's job is to protect Florida entities. Ms. Moody is a UF grad. Maybe and/or plausible on the rest of your post Lastly AG = Attorney General and not Auditor General.
Both FSU and Clemson are always in the top ten schools in football both would be assets for the B1G or the SEC. Both conferences can't comment on taking either team or the ACC will sue them for interference. As soon as both are finally out of the crappy ACC via buyouts THEN the bidding for both top notch schools from the B1G or SEC will happen. As far as going to the "little 12" that not even an option, as there is little change in revenue between the ACC or "little 12".
FSU or* Clemson. They have never both been good at the same time. The lack of competition is why they can’t get the tv deal that the big conferences have.
Yo Josh, you major goofed when you said “people in Florida are watching major Big Ten games”. Really? Gimme a break: other than Ohio State vs Michigan (at the end of the regular season) there ARE NO major Big Ten games worth watching - not south of the Mason-Dixon Line.

Josh, your conference realignment video that reconstituted the old days was brilliant and should be given serious consideration.

Yet all you haters are saying that Florida State doesn't bring anything to the table.

Awesome as always, Josh. Much appreciated!
@@willpsone if the current membership doesn't incrementally gain, I don't see why they would invite any other schools?
@@willpsone Fair question. CFB is no longer market driven, it is brand driven. What is Alabama’s market? Birmingham? No, they are a truly national brand. So is Florida State. The fact that two schools might be in the same geographic area is immaterial. Every brand has their own following. The SEC already had Texas A&M, why add Texas?
Then why add Texas and Oklahoma?
I hope the best for him.
Josh Pate is thinking like an outsider void or apathetic to the relationships between conference members. Florida State is not a disruptive partner. It's very hypocritical of the SEC and B1G to to call ANYONE else a disruptive partner, which is exactly what those two conferences are
Thanks for setting the record straight.👍
Its not disruptive….. FSU wants a piece of the big pie…. Nothing wrong with that!

It's called greed.
And that Josh Pate is completely correct! No one knows!!!
FSUs next BOT meeting is Monday, July 22, 2024. Could there be some true information there?

That’s because the B1G didn’t have an elevator clause to bring in more teams not named ND.
If FSU and Clemson had somewhere to go, they’d be there.

You realize some of those schools will become the teams you hated right?
There are some smart people at UNC Clemson and Florida St that can read financial statements. They know that having to pay athletes 22 million a year on top of everything puts ACC schools at a competitive disadvantage. Unless ESPN renegotiates the TV deal, the ACC is all but dead. Teams have no choice but to find a way out. Comparing the SEC B10 and ACC, the ACC has the largest percentage of dead weight. So whether it’s 2025 or 2036 the ACC needs to figure out if they exist or not.
